Good news! The sign-up bonus for the The Business Gold Rewards card from American Express OPEN has doubled!
You can now earn 50,000 AMEX Membership Rewards points after meeting minimum spending requirements. The normal offer is for 25,000 AMEX Membership Rewards points, so this is a great deal!
It’s especially nice because getting this card will NOT hurt your chances of being approved for any Chase cards you want.
I’ll share more about this offer. And give you ideas about how to use the sign-up bonus for Big Travel!
Apply Soon! Increased Sign-Up Bonus for the AMEX Business Gold Card
You can now earn 50,000 American Express Membership Rewards points with the The Business Gold Rewards Card from American Express OPEN after you spend $5,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of opening your account.
You’ll also earn:
- 3X AMEX Membership Rewards points per $1 you spend in 1 of 5 categories of your choice
- 2X AMEX Membership Rewards points per $1 you spend on the 4 remaining categories
- 1X AMEX Membership Rewards points per $1 you spend on other purchases
- Terms and limitations apply
The $175 annual fee is waived for the first year. And there are NO foreign transaction fees, so it’s a good card to use when you travel abroad.
The bonus categories you can choose from include:
- Airfare purchased directly from airlines
- US purchases for advertising in select media
- US purchases at gas stations
- US purchases for shipping
- US computer hardware, software, and cloud computing purchases made directly from select providers
You’ll earn 3X and 2X points on the first $100,000 in purchases in each of the 5 categories per calendar year. After that, you’ll earn 1 point per $1.
Plus you’ll have access to American Express OPEN discounts and AMEX Offers. And you’ll get a subscription to ShopRunner, which offers free 2-day shipping from dozens of online stores.
The normal sign-up bonus is 25,000 AMEX Membership Rewards points. So getting twice the points is a good deal!
Note: Million Mile Secrets team members Scott and Meghan tell me they recently received a 75,000 point offer for the same card in the mail. So check your mail for targeted offers, and apply for the better offer instead of using my link.
If you haven’t been targeted, 50,000 AMEX Membership Rewards points is still a good deal. Because AMEX small business cards do NOT appear on your personal credit report. And will NOT hurt your chances of being approved Chase cards.
Plus, we don’t know when this offer will end, so if you want the AMEX Business Gold Rewards card, I’d suggest applying sooner rather than later!
Don’t Have a Business?
Remember, you can get this card if you have a small business, like selling on eBay, freelance design, or coaching. You don’t need a big company or corporation to qualify!
Even new businesses can qualify as long as you’re aiming to make a profit.
For sole proprietorships, you can use your Social Security Number instead of an EIN (Employer Identification Number)
Recently Approved for the Lower Sign-Up Bonus?
If you recently applied for this card with the 25,000 AMEX Membership Rewards points sign-up bonus, it’s worth calling the bank to see if they’ll match the better offer.
I can’t guarantee this will work, but it’s certainly worth trying to earn an additional 25,000 AMEX Membership Rewards points!
Had This Card Before?
The AMEX Business Gold Rewards card is a charge card, not a credit card.
There’s NO limit on the number of American Express charge cards you can have. But American Express only allows folks to get the sign-up bonus ONCE per person, per lifetime on ALL their cards.
So if you’ve had this card before, you will NOT be eligible to earn the sign-up bonus again.
What Can You Do With AMEX Membership Rewards Points?
|American Express Membership Rewards Airline Transfer Partners|
|ANA||Asia Miles||British Airways|
|Etihad||Flying Blue (Air France / KLM)||Hawaiian Airlines|
Here are a few ways to get Big Travel with 50,000 AMEX Membership Rewards points:
- $500 when you pay for travel using the American Express Membership Rewards “Pay With Points” option
- 2 round-trip coach tickets within the US on Delta
- 1 round-trip Business Class ticket within the continental US and Canada when you transfer your AMEX points to Air Canada
Note: American Express charges a fee to transfer points to US airlines. And your points usually transfer within 2 days, but can take longer depending on the airline.
You can also transfer AMEX Membership Rewards points to hotels, including Choice, Hilton, and Starwood. But I usually don’t recommend doing that, because you’ll get much more value when you use them for flights on partner airlines.
The usual sign-up bonus is 25,000 AMEX Membership Rewards points, so this is a good deal. Especially because the AMEX small business cards (like this one!) do NOT hurt your chances of being approved for Chase cards.
We don’t know when this offer will end, so if you’ve been thinking about applying I wouldn’t wait too long!
Just remember to keep an eye out in the mail for better targeted offers.
And let me know in the comments if you decide to sign-up for this deal!
