Chase cards have some of the most lucrative sign-up bonuses.  And you can continue earning valuable rewards with Chase cards by using them for your everyday purchases.

The bank also has tougher credit card application rules, which makes it harder to get their cards if you open lots of new accounts with other banks.  That’s why I usually recommend beginners to miles & points start by applying for Chase cards first!

I ranked some of the best Chase cards by category.

Million Mile Secrets List of the Best Chase Credit Cards

Here are highlights of each card!

Best Card for Beginners:  Chase Sapphire Preferred

Link:   Chase Sapphire Preferred

Link:   Our Review of the Chase Sapphire Preferred

The Chase Sapphire Preferred is the #1 card I recommend for beginners in the miles & points hobby.  This card earns Chase Ultimate Rewards points, which you can transfer to airline and hotel partners like Hyatt, Southwest, and United Airlines.  Or you can quickly redeem points to save on airfare, hotels, or car rentals through Chase portal.

When you sign-up for the Chase Sapphire Preferred, you’ll earn 50,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points after spending $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of opening your account.

The sign-up bonus is worth $625 in travel when you book through the Chase portal.

Best Chase Credit Card
The Chase Sapphire Preferred Sign-Up Bonus Can Get You at Least $625 Worth of Travel! You Can Use Points on This Card for a Vacation to the Beautiful California Coast!

Chase Sapphire Preferred cardholders also get:

  • 2X Chase Ultimate Rewards points per $1 on travel and dining
  • Primary car rental insurance – Covers damage due to accident or theft to your rental car, when you pay for the rental with your card
  • Trip delay reimbursement – Get up to $500 back per ticket when your trip is delayed more than 12 hours
  • NO foreign transaction fees

The card’s $95 annual fee is waived the first year, which means you can use the card for free for ~10 or ~11 months.  Then, decide if you like the benefits enough to pay the annual fee.

Million Mile Secrets team member Scott loves his Chase Sapphire Preferred card.  Because it enables him to transfer his Chase Ultimate Rewards points for award flights to Europe and free stays at upscale Hyatt hotels.

Best Card for Travelers:  Chase Sapphire Reserve

Link:   Chase Sapphire Reserve

Link:   Our Review of the Chase Sapphire Reserve

The Chase Sapphire Reserve is the best premium travel rewards credit card!

The Sapphire Reserve sign-up bonus is worth at least $750 in travel.  And you also get a $300 annual credit for travel purchases every cardmember anniversary.  That’s $1,050 in value in the first year, which doesn’t consider other money saving perks you enjoy as a cardholder.

Chase 5 24 Rule
Use Points Linked to Your Sapphire Reserve Account to Save Money on a Trip to Sydney!

When you sign-up for the Chase Sapphire Reserve card, you’ll earn 50,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.

You’ll also get:

The card comes with a $450 annual fee, which is NOT waived the first year.  But you can offset this fee with perks like the $300 travel statement credit and airport lounge access.   Million Mile Secrets team member Keith says this is the #1 card he uses because he earns tons of valuable bonus points dining out!

Be sure to run the numbers when deciding between the Chase Sapphire Preferred and Chase Sapphire Reserve.  For example, you’re effectively paying a $150 annual fee with the Chase Sapphire Reserve ($450 annual fee – $300 travel credit).  After the first year with the Chase Sapphire Preferred, you’ll pay a $95 annual fee.  So you’ll pay effectively pay $55 more each year ($150 – $95) to get many extra perks, like lounge access, more bonus points on travel & dining purchases, rental car discounts, and much more!

Note:   Chase has these restrictions for their Sapphire-branded credit cards.  So you can NOT have more than one Sapphire-branded credit card open at the same time.

Best Card for Cash Back:  Chase Freedom Unlimited

Link:   Chase Freedom Unlimited

Link:   Our Review of the Chase Freedom Unlimited

The Chase Freedom Unlimited has probably the easiest points earning structure.  If you don’t want to bother with rotating bonus categories, this card is a great option for earning valuable Chase Ultimate Rewards points.

With this card, you earn 1.5X Chase Ultimate Rewards points (1.5% cash back) per $1 you spend on all purchases with NO limit.  And when you open the Chase Freedom Unlimited card, you can earn a $150 bonus (15,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points) after you spend $500 on purchases within the first 3 months of opening your account.

With the no-annual-fee Chase Freedom card, you can earn 5% cash back (5X Chase Ultimate Rewards points) on up to $1,500 in spending in rotating categories each quarter when you activate the bonus.  The bonus categories are typically very useful, like gas stations or grocery stores!

Million Mile Secrets team member Scott has kept his no-annual-fee Freedom card for years.  He really likes the rotating 5X categories to earn 5 points per $1 spent.  Then, he moves the points he earns to his Chase Sapphire Preferred account.  And that’s how he flew for nearly free to Portugal to see the magical castles on the hills of Sintra.

A $500 Cash Back Sign-Up Bonus On a No-Annual-Fee Card Is an AMAZING Deal!

This is the highest bonus I’ve ever seen on this card.  And it also comes with:

  • 5% cash back (5X Chase Ultimate Rewards points) on the first $25,000 spent in combined purchases at office supply stores and on phone, internet and cable TV services each account anniversary year
  • 2% cash back (2X Chase Ultimate Rewards points) on the first $25,000 spent in combined purchases at gas stations and restaurants each account anniversary year
  • 1% cash back (1X Chase Ultimate Rewards point) on all other purchases
  • Primary car rental insurance (CDW) when renting for business purposes, covering damage due to collision or theft to your rental car when you pay with your Chase Ink Cash card.  Secondary coverage when renting for personal reasons

Million Mile Secrets team member Scott has had this card a long time because it has no annual fee.  He uses it as restaurants (when his Chase Freedom doesn’t have restaurants as a 5X bonus category, of course!) to keep his small business expenses separate.

Best Chase Hotel Credit Card:   The World of Hyatt Credit Card

Link:   The World of Hyatt Credit Card

We LOVE Hyatt at Million Mile Secrets!  They have great hotels with a good balance of value and comfort.

With The World of Hyatt Credit Card, you can earn up to 60,000 Hyatt points after meeting tiered spending requirements.  You’ll earn:

  • 40,000 bonus Hyatt points after you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of opening your account
  • Another 20,000 bonus Hyatt points after you spend an additional $3,000 on purchases within the first 6 months of opening your account

That’s an INCREDIBLE bonus, considering you can reserve astronomically expensive hotels, like the Park Hyatt Milan, for 30,000 Hyatt points per night.  Rooms at that hotel can go for ~$700 per night!

I Could Relax on This Patio for Days!

You’ll also get:

  • 9 Hyatt points per $1 spent at Hyatt – 4 bonus points per $1 when you use your card at Hyatt hotels & 5 base points per $1 you can earn as a World of Hyatt member
  • 2 Hyatt points per $1 on restaurants, on airline tickets purchased directly from the airlines, on local transit and commuting and on fitness club and gym memberships
  • 1 Hyatt point per $1 on everything else
  • 1 free night each anniversary year at a category 1 to 4 Hyatt hotel or resort
  • An additional free night at a category 1 to 4 Hyatt hotel or resort after spending $15,000 in an anniversary year
  • Automatic Hyatt Discoverist Status (more bonus points per stay, upgrades to a preferred room based on availability at check-in, late check-out upon request, etc.)
  • 5 qualifying night credits every year
  • 2 qualifying night credits after every $5,000 you spend on the card
  • NO foreign transaction fees

The card comes with a $95 annual fee.  That’s $20 higher than the other Chase Hyatt credit card offer.  But you can get MUCH more value from this card than the previous, so it’s well worth it.

The card also comes with Chase Visa Offers, which can help you save money on purchases you’d make anyway.  It’s easy to sign-up and find out which discounts you qualify for.  Just activate the offers you want, and you’ll get a rebate when you make a qualifying purchase!

Best Chase Airline Credit Card:   British Airways Visa Signature® Card

Link:   Chase British Airways

Link:   Our Review of the Chase British Airways Card

With the Chase British Airways card, you can earn up to 100,000 British Airways Avios points after meeting tiered minimum spending requirements.

I love it only from the information i saw. ive never used a credit card before. i hope i can get one through this giveaway thanks

Love the Chase Sapphire Reserve! Can’t beat the earning power and it’s so easy to redeem points through the Chase site. Airport lounge access through Priority Pass is a key perk as well.

We like the Chase IHG card best, although we have several of the others. We like to stay at Holiday Inn Express when we’re on the road because of easy access, they’re clean & comfortable, and the hot breakfasts make it quick & easy to get back on the road.

Chase Sapphire Preferred because the points are so flexible!

Chase UnitedMileagePlus Visa – great bonus and benefits. I’m taking my family to Europe!
