INSIDER SECRET: Small-business American Express cards won’t appear on your personal credit report, which means they don’t add to your Chase “5/24” count.

Today, Amex has introduced a cash-back business card, the American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card. The card doesn’t currently have an intro bonus, but it does earn 2% cash back on purchases up to $50,000 per calendar year, then 1%. This card is replacing the SimplyCash® Plus Business Credit Card from American Express.

The card is very similar to the The Blue Business®️ Plus Credit Card from American Express, which earns 2X Amex Membership Rewards points on purchases up to $50,000 per calendar year, then 1X.

Right now the Amex Blue Business Cash doesn’t have an intro bonus, so I would wait to apply until there is some sort of introductory offer, because once you have or have ever had the card, you won’t be eligible for a welcome offer ever again.

This is a small-business card, but you may qualify even if you’re not running a full-time business. Check out this article to learn more about how to qualify for a business card and take a look at our step-by-step guide on how to complete an Amex business card application. One nice thing about Amex business cards is that they don’t appear on your personal credit report, so if you open one it won’t add to your Chase “5/24” count and restrict you from earning a valuable Chase credit card bonus down the road.

It’s nice that the Blue Business Cash has no annual fee (see rates and fees), but there are other cash-back credit cards and business cash-back credit cards that earn 2% back in rewards.

I have the Amex Blue Business Plus card which also has no annual fee (see rates and fees), but I like it better because it earns 2X Amex Membership Rewards points on purchases up to $50,000 per calendar year, then 1X. I value 2 Amex points much more than 2% in cash back because there are so many ways to increase your Amex points value by transferring Amex Membership Rewards points to travel partners.
