Best credit cards for Amazon purchases

The best card to use for any purchase – Amazon or not – is the card you’re currently trying to meet minimum spending on to unlock a big bonus.

After you’ve done that, consider one of these cards to earn more rewards for your Amazon shopping. You’ll want to use a card that earns rewards on non-bonused spending

Capital One Venture

Best Amazon credit card for easy-to-use travel rewards

Why this card is great for Amazon purchases

Capital One Venture cardholders earn 2 Capital One miles per dollar spent on ALL purchases (including at Amazon). Many readers love the Capital One Venture card because the miles you earn are super easy to use. You can just pay for travel with the card, including airfare, hotel stays, car rentals, Airbnb rentals, and much more. Then, redeem miles to offset the purchase.

Each mile is worth 1 cent toward travel. And there’s no minimum redemption increment when redeeming miles, unless you’re using miles to partially pay for a travel purchase. In that case, the minimum is 2,500 miles ($25). After you use your card to pay for a travel purchase, you have 90 days to “erase” it using your miles.

Intro bonus details

This card has a lucrative intro bonus that’s easy to redeem. The Capital One Venture card comes with 50,000 Capital One miles (worth $500 in travel) after spending $3,000 on purchases within the first 3 months.  You can learn how to meet the minimum spending here.

And you’ll get:

Annual fee

The card has a $95 annual fee, which is waived the first year. As long as you spend $4,750 per year, the rewards you’ll earn will offset the annual fee, because this card earns 2 Capital One miles per dollar. So spending $4,750 means you’ll earn 9,500 Capital One miles, which you can then redeem for $95 in travel rewards.

Capital One® Spark® Cash for Business

Best Amazon credit card for cash back rewards on business purchases

Why this card is great for Amazon purchases

Capital One Spark Cash cardholders earn unlimited 2% cash back per dollar spent. It doesn’t get any simpler than that.

The nice thing about earning cash back is you can put your rewards toward any expense. This is useful because when you’re traveling there are lots of expenses that don’t qualify as travel.

Intro bonus details

With the Capital One Spark Cash for Business card, you’ll receive a $500 cash bonus when you spend $5,000 in the first three months — and earn $1,500 when you spend $50,000 on purchases in the first six months of your account opening.

Annual fee

The card has a $95 annual fee that is waived the first year.

AMEX Blue Business Plus

Best Amazon credit card for small business purchases

Why this card is great for Amazon purchases

The no-annual-fee AMEX Blue Business Plus (See Rates & Fees) card earns 2 Amex Membership Rewards points per dollar spent on all purchases, on up to $50,000 spent each calendar year (then 1X thereafter).

Amex Membership Rewards points are extremely useful for folks looking to save money on travel. You can transfer points directly to any of AMEX’s transfer partners (both airline and hotel) to book award travel. For example, you can transfer Amex Membership Rewards points to Delta, JetBlue, and others to book award flights.

It’s handy to be able to transfer Amex Membership Rewards points to JetBlue because the airline has no blackout dates. So it’s really simple to save money on flights when you’re flying to destinations like New York or Orlando.

Intro bonus details

No welcome bonus

Annual fee

This card has no annual fee. But because it’s a small business card, you’ll need to show business income. However, how to qualify for a small business credit card might be easier than you think. For example, you can be eligible for small business cards if you sell things for a profit on eBay. And you can apply for small business cards using just your social security number.

Citi American Airlines Platinum Select

Best Amazon credit card for purchase protection

Why this card is great for Amazon purchases

The Citi American Airlines card is amazing for purchase protection, like extended warranty coverage. This can come in handy when you’re buying big ticket items at Amazon.

This benefit will extend the manufacturer’s warranty on eligible items by an additional 24 months (total coverage between both the manufacturer’s warranty and extended warranty cannot exceed 84 months).

With this coverage, Citi will repair or replace the item. Or reimburse you up to the amount charged on the card (up to $10,000). This can be extra valuable when you’re making big purchases.

Intro bonus details

When you intro for the Citi American Airlines Platinum Select card, you’ll earn 50,000 bonus American Airlines miles after spending $2,500 on purchases in the first 3 months of account opening.

Annual fee

This card has a $99 annual fee, which is waived for the first 12 months.

Ink Business Unlimited℠ Credit Card

Best Amazon credit card for business purchases with no annual fee

Why this card is great for Amazon purchases

Purchases made with the Ink Business Unlimited card earn 1.5% cash back (1.5X Chase Ultimate Rewards points) on every purchase. That’s great in and of itself, but it gets even better if you can pair this card with other Chase Ultimate Rewards credit cards.

For example, when you can pool the points earned with your Ink Business Unlimited card onto the Chase Sapphire Reserve® card and then your Chase Ultimate Rewards points are worth 1.5 cents each toward travel booked through the Chase Travel Portal.

That means you’d essentially be earning 2.25% back in travel rewards on every purchase with the Ink Business Unlimited.

Intro bonus details

With the Chase Ink Business Unlimited card, you’ll earn a $500 bonus (50,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points) after spending $3,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening.

The card has no annual fee.

Everybody has their favorite way to shop Amazon and get great travel rewards. I like to use my Chase Business Ink Cash to buy Amazon gift cards at Office Max and do all my Amazon shopping with those gift cards. I earn 5X Ultimate Rewards points which I transfer to my Chase Sapphire Reserve UL account for the great options of Southwest with double value with my companion pass, United, Hyatt, or the Chase travel portal.

“Best Amazon Credit Card for Cash Back Rewards on Business Purchases” should definitely be the Amazon Business Prime Card. No annual fee and 5% back destroys Capital One Spark Cash for Business.

Would you use a chase freedom card with 1.5 on every purchase that you can transfer to chase reserve for travel or a chase amazon card with prime? Is that a no-brained to use the latter?

Simply put, the Chase Amazon rewards card beats all others (whether or not you are a Prime customer).

Even if you have the Chase Sapphire Reserve (which doubles your Ultimate Rewards), the most you would get out of Chase Freedom is 1.5% x 1.5 = 2.25%

While Chase Amazon rewards gets you 3% (without Prime) or 5% (with Prime).

The only time of the year when you should use Chase Freedom on Amazon.com is in Q4 when it’s a 5% bonus category (usually). Then you end up with 5% x 1.5 = 7.5% back.

Hi Debanjan – good points, but consider it’s sometimes possible to get much more than 2.25 cents per point worth of value when you transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points directly to travel partners.

For example, I’ve transferred Chase Ultimate Rewards points to United Airlines for Business Class award flights and to Hyatt for free Hyatt hotel nights. These types of redemptions got me significantly more value than 5% cash back rewards.

Correction: CSR gives you 50% more points, not double

Also my first Chase Freedom reference was for the Freedom Unlimited. Second was the regular one.

It definitely depends on your travel goals. Personally, I use the 2 card Chase combination you described. But if you prefer to earn straightforward cash back, then the Chase Amazon card is a great choice!

In addition to the Amazon cash back, I recommend signing up for MyPoints and going through their website to earn MyPoints rewards on Amazon purchases in many categories.

Thanks for sharing the tip!

I believe the Barclays Jet Blue credit card earns 2 points on Amazon purchases also.

I believe you’ll only earn 1 point per $1 on Amazon purchases. That said, JetBlue points are valuable because the airline has no blackout dates. So it could still make sense to use that card. Thanks for commenting!
