Emily: As we drove up to the Hyatt Regency in Maui, I told Daraius that from the outside, we could be driving by any of the resorts in Orlando, Florida!
Daraius: I’ve never been to a resort in Florida, so I replied “Yeah!” I didn’t want to pay the $20 valet parking fee, so I drove to the lobby and unloaded our bags (and Emily!) and parked in the self-parking lot which is $14 per night.

Emily: We checked in, and were offered a choice of food and beverages as our Diamond elite amenity, but chose the 1,000 Hyatt points instead.
Daraius: I really wanted to try the Sesame Seared Hawaiian Ahi (form the Diamond amenity list), but I wasn’t feeling well and just wanted to go to bed. The hotel has a central atrium and 2 towers on each end (Napali and Lahaina).
Our room was in the Napali tower. There was construction work in the lobby of the Napali tower, but we didn’t hear any noise from our room. But that could change as the construction picks-up.
Emily: The living room of our suite was cozy and comfortable. You could tell that it was an older hotel, but it was still quite comfortable.
We had one room with a table and chairs, couch and chair, and TV.
The couch was a sleeper sofa, or had a pull-out bed, making this a good room for families.
The views from our suite were amazing! Seeing the ocean with palm trees and mountains in the background, there was no mistaking that we were in Hawaii!

I appreciated that the Hawaiian decor emphasized the fact that we were in Hawaii.
While not overly spacious, the living room can easily accommodate four people.

Daraius: My only (small) complaint was that the table was very small and Emily and I both couldn’t work comfortably from the same desk. Then again, when are they ever two desks to work on!
Emily: It was nice having extra space and a coffee & tea maker in the room since I didn’t have to run down to the lobby to get tea in the morning.
The living room had a flat screen TV, a fridge, and a regular coffee maker.
There was also a walk out patio…
…with a view of the ocean! There was no mistaking that we were in Hawaii!
There was a separate bedroom area.
I loved being able to wake up and see the ocean without having to get out of bed. Daraius spent most of the first 2 days on this bed because he was under the weather.
I liked the additional privacy feature of the shutter doors separating the living area from the bedroom. This was very handy when Daraius was sleeping and I wanted to read or do work in the living room.
I also liked the iPhone charger on the nightstand because it made charging our phones more convenient.
There was another flat screen TV, and another fridge for food and drinks. However, there was no microwave in the room.
The bedroom had another walk out patio with a beautiful view.
The bathroom was a good size and had a large countertop.
The amenities were large Spa Moana products. They smelled very tropical and were good quality.
Daraius: They smelled too fruity and I didn’t like them. I’d rather eat a mango!
The shower was a standard hotel shower.
There was a small storage area in the bathroom.
I liked being able to put both of our suitcases in the walk-in closet and have them out of sight.
The room was very spacious and comfortable. We loved the breeze that came through our windows and were lucky to stay in this suite for 2 nights!
