When comparing rewards credit cards it makes sense to look at the rewards you’ll earn and the travel perks you’ll get with the card. But depending on the card’s payment network, you might have extra benefits that you weren’t even aware of.
For example, your Visa card could come with the additional designation of Visa Signature or Visa Infinite and entitle you to different benefits.
We’ve covered the benefits you get with the Visa Infinite card and this guide details all the extras you may have with your Visa Signature card.
Visa Signature benefits explained
The list below covers all of the discounts, coverages and extra programs that could be attached to your Visa Signature card. But what is available, and the specific terms or limitations of those perks, will vary depending on the card. So be sure to review your card’s benefits guide for a full breakdown.
Auto rental collision damage waiver
If you pay for a rental car with an eligible Visa Signature card you’ll be covered for damage or theft. The specific terms vary by card and card issuer, so check your benefits guide for details, like coverage limits. Many of the best credit cards for rental cars include primary coverage that pays out before any other insurance. This can be incredibly valuable because, by not needing to file a claim with your insurance provider, you can keep your premiums low.
This insurance doesn’t include liability coverage for injury or damage to other vehicles. So there are instances when you’ll need to pay for rental insurance if your personal car insurance doesn’t apply to rentals or if you don’t own a vehicle.
Roadside dispatch
Visa Signature roadside dispatch is available 24/7. For a set price per call they will help you schedule everything from towing to locksmith services.
Travel and emergency services
If you run into trouble anywhere in the world, Visa Signature cardholders (including spouses and dependent children under 22) have access to a multilingual call center. The call center can assist you in an emergency with a medical or legal referral, translations, lost luggage, transportation assistance and more.
You can reach the call center at 1-800-992-6029 within the U.S. or call collect 804-673-1675, if you’re outside the U.S. The travel and emergency services center will only help put you in contact with the appropriate service, you will still be responsible for paying for that service.
Extended warranty
When you make a purchase with your Visa Signature card, eligible U.S. manufacturers’ warranties will be doubled in length up to one additional year.
Visa Signature Hotel Collection
When you book through Visa Signature Hotels you’ll receive benefits similar to what you’d get with hotel elite status. This includes:
- Upgrades at check-in (when available)
- Late checkout (when available)
- Complimentary Wi-Fi
- $25 food or beverage credit
- Free breakfast for two people
- VIP guest status
- Best-available-rate guarantee
For the best-rate guarantee to apply you’ll need to find a cheaper price online within 24 hours of booking and submit this form. The booking details will need to be the same (hotel, number of guests, room type and dates) and the offer must be public.
These benefits are similar to what you’d get with Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts or the Chase Luxury Hotel Collection. If you have an eligible American Express card or Chase credit card, you’ll want to compare the benefits because many properties are available with all of the programs.
Rental car discount with Silvercar
Silvercar is a luxury car rental service that only rents Audi vehicles. With your Visa Signature card, you can visit this site to receive a promo code for up to 15% off.
GroundLink discount
GroundLink is a chauffeured car service that provides airport transportation or point-to-point service throughout the U.S. and 110 countries worldwide. With your Visa Signature card, you are eligible for a 10% discount and a $20 credit.
Visa Signature Concierge
The Visa Signature Concierge can help you book travel, make dining reservations or even find a special gift. You can contact the concierge at 1-800-953-7392.
Visa Offers + Perks
The Visa Offers + Perks program is similar to an online shopping portal and offers discounts or bonus items at 80 merchants. You save at select restaurants or get a discount with retailers like, 1-800-FLOWERS, Vistaprint or Lenovo.
Top Visa Signature cards
Many of the best Visa Signature credit cards come with additional perks and travel protections that can save you tons in the long run. These benefits can include return protection, purchase protection, trip delay reimbursement, trip cancellation and interruption insurance and baggage delay coverage. But the specific insurance you get varies by card. The top Visa Signature cards are:
- Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card
- Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card
- Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card
- Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® credit card
Bottom line
Depending on the payment network of your travel credit card, you may be entitled to additional benefits. The top-tier Visa Infinite or World Elite Mastercard credit cards come with a handful of potentially valuable benefits, but often have bigger annual fees. But, with Visa Signature cards you can still get solid perks with an annual fee that is typically under $100.
Our favorite card with the Visa Signature designation is the Chase Sapphire Preferred, which earn transfer Ultimate Rewards points and comes with top-notch travel insurance perks.
