M life is the loyalty program of MGM Resorts.  M life members earn points when staying at MGM Resorts.

You get the benefits of both memberships if you’re a Hyatt Gold Passport member and a M life member when you stay at participating MGM Resort hotels in Las Vegas or any Hyatt hotel worldwide.  So you can earn both Hyatt and M life points, room discounts, VIP Line night club access, buffet line passes, and more!

Update:   Read my post to learn about changes to Hyatt’s loyalty program.  Some Las Vegas hotels have changed categories.

If you’re a Hyatt Gold Passport member and a M life member, you get the benefits of both hotel chains when you stay at Hyatt and at M life hotels in Las Vegas.

M life hotels in Las Vegas include:

You Can Earn Hyatt Points at These 12 M Life Resorts

Earn Hyatt Points at M life Las Vegas Hotels

Link:   M life program

You can earn Hyatt points when you stay at participating M life resorts in Las Vegas booked through the Hyatt website, the MGM website or calling Hyatt at 800-591-1234.

If you book directly through the hotel’s website, use a card such as the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Ink Plus, or (no longer offered) Chase Ink Bold to earn 2X Chase Ultimate Rewards points.  And the Chase Hyatt card earns you 3 Hyatt points per $1 spent at Hyatt.  However, the MGM hotels in Vegas won’t earn you 3x points at Hyatt.  Or use your Barclaycard Arrival Plus for 2.1% back as a statement credit.

Bookings through online travel agencies like Expedia and Orbitz do NOT count.  However, it could be worth giving up the Hyatt points if you can find a really cheap rate.

To earn Hyatt points, you have to be a Hyatt Gold Passport member AND an M life member.  Tell the front desk that you want to earn Hyatt points for the stay.  And put your Hyatt Gold Passport number and M life numbers on the reservation.

You’ll earn 5 Hyatt points per $1 of eligible spending which includes your room costs and up to $5,000 in M life charges to your room.  You do NOT earn Hyatt points on casino spending.  This is probably so folks don’t buy casino chips and cash them out to earn points.

You Can Earn and Use Hyatt Points at Aria Las Vegas

Redeeming Hyatt Points at M life Las Vegas Hotels

You can redeem Hyatt points at any of the participating M life hotels as follows:

1.   25,000 Hyatt points per night

  • Aria
  • Bellagio
  • Mandalay Bay
  • THEhotel at Mandalay Bay

2.   20,000 Hyatt points per night

  • MGM Grand
  • Mirage
  • The Signature at MGM Grand
  • Vdara

3.   15,000 Hyatt points per night

  • Monte Carlo
  • New York, New York

4.   12,000 Hyatt points per night

  • Luxor

5.   8,000 Hyatt points per night

  • Excalibur

But unlike using Hyatt points at Hyatt hotels where the resort fee is waived, you WILL pay the resort fee when you use Hyatt points at M life hotels.  And sometimes M life hotels in Las Vegas are really cheap.

For example, to stay at the Excalibur on the night of November 17, 2014, you would pay ~$53.  If you used Hyatt points, you would pay 8,000 Hyatt points.  So you’d only get a value of ~0.7 cents per Hyatt point ($53 cash cost of room / 8,000 Hyatt points).

2014-08-08_16-46-21

I Would Rather Pay ~$53 for 1 Night at the Excalibur Than Use 8,000 Hyatt Points

But the same 8,000 Hyatt points could be used for 1 night at the Grand Hyatt Amman in Jordan instead of paying ~$252 a night!  Which means you get a value of ~3 cents per Hyatt point.

Because Some Las Vegas Hotels Are Cheap, You Might Be Better Off Saving Your Hyatt Points for Expensive Hotels

So it might not be worth using your Hyatt points to stay at M life hotels.  But you should always do what’s best for you.

You can also use the 2 free nights from the Hyatt card at M life hotels.

Hyatt Platinum & Diamond Benefits

If you’re a Hyatt Platinum elite member or Hyatt Diamond elite member, you will NOT get free internet and breakfast (Hyatt Diamond elite members).

And you can NOT use your Diamond suite upgrade certificates at the M life resorts.  But you will get the 15% (Hyatt Platinum elite) and 30% (Hyatt Diamond elite) Hyatt point bonus on your stay.

Benefits for Matching Your Hyatt Status to MGM

Hyatt Platinum members get the same benefits as M life Gold members such as access to the VIP Line to night clubs for you and a guest.

You do get benefits at M life hotels in Las Vegas IF you match your Hyatt Platinum or Hyatt Diamond status.

So if have Hyatt Platinum status, you would get M life Gold status.  And as a Hyatt Diamond member, you’d get M life Platinum status.

Success!  My Hyatt Diamond Elite Status Was Matched to M life Platinum Elite Status

Bottom Line

You get the benefits of both memberships if you’re a Hyatt Gold Passport member AND a M life member when staying at participating M life hotels in Las Vegas and any Hyatt hotel worldwide.

This means you’ll earn both Hyatt and M life points for your stay.  And you’ll get room upgrades, priority check-in, VIP line night club access and more!

You earn 5 Hyatt points per $1 spent on eligible spending which includes your room and up to $5,000 in incidentals.  But it does NOT include gambling!  And you have to book your hotel through Hyatt or MGM Resorts.

You can redeem Hyatt points at Las Vegas M life hotels but you will pay resort fees.  And it might not be worth using Hyatt points if you can get a cheap hotel rate.

You do NOT get free internet and breakfast as a Hyatt Platinum or Hyatt Diamond elite member.  And you can NOT use a Diamond suite upgrade.

What’s been your experience with matching your Hyatt elite status to M life?

  1. Step 5 seems to hang so that Step 6 never appears.

  2. Agreed, cannot get past Step 5. Any ideas?

  3. I signed up months ago when. Sign Up was easy enough.
Unfortunately, the actual program did little/nothing for me. I stayed at Bellagio last weekend for 3 days and did not get premium check in. no upgrades, I was on backside of hotel. no VIP access to clubs. Oh and no points earned for the several thousand spent on shows, dinners, spa etc.
I did get 10% off souvenir mugs. woo hoo.
I am Hyatt Platinum and Mlife Gold.

Basically this is a worthless program. All hype and no benefits.

    Dont bother with the program.

  4. I have Hyatt Platinum status and am interested in M Life Gold benefits. Would I get the VIP line night club benefits even if I don’t stay at one of the above hotels?

  5. @Dave – Just show your MLife Gold Card. There are multiple places in Vegas to pick one up if you don’t already have it.

  6. This is an attempt to post a real comment again since moderator deleted original.
I signed up for Mlife months ago. I stayed at Bellagio last weekend.
I did not get priority checkin, I did not get VIP club access, I did not get upgrade.
I did get 10% discount on few souvenir mugs. woo hoo.

I paid for dinner and show each night, spa services, etc and received no real benefit of Mlife.

Too much hype and no real benefit.

  7. I don’t think you are getting $3 per point in Jordan

“But the same 8,000 Hyatt points could be used for 1 night at the Grand Hyatt Amman in Jordan instead of paying ~$252 a night! Which means you get a value of ~$3 per Hyatt point.”

  8. Just to clarify: you do NOT get 3 points per dollar using a Hyatt card at MGM properties. Since they aren’t true Hyatt’s they aren’t processed the same. Also regarding status: I have been upgraded every time I stay at an MGM property and have availed myself of the VIP line as well. Not sure why @william didn’t get the same.

  9. I signed up for this months ago too, but haven’t made any attempt to make use of it yet. Yesterday, I learned of a similar partnership between SPG & Total Rewards, the “loyalty/rewards” program of Caesars properties in L.V. & Atlantic City. Not sure whether this is new or not, but I’d never seen it talked about on any of the blogs. Might be nice to have a piece covering this option. Thanks, as always, for your wonderful blog!

  10. Was anyone finally able to get past step 5? I keep getting stuck at the spinning circle of death…

  11. @William (and others)…

In order to get any M-Life credit, comps and free-play, you’ll absolutely need to go pickup an M-Life card from one of the M-Life service desks at any of the MGM hotels after you complete your sign up and opt in with your current Hyatt Platinum or Diamond status.

You WILL need to use that card EVERYWHERE you spend money to get tier and comp credits – slots, table games, restaurants, shows, etc. Otherwise, the casino has no way to track your spending.

You also have to show it for access to VIP lines at the nightclubs, you can cut in front of all the losers at the Buffet, you can use the “invited guests” line at say, ARIA when you check in and should you need a taxi, you can cut that line as well.

Plenty of perks, and I have used them repeatedly. Using a Hyatt credit card will not get you any bonus points/$ as these are not Hyatt properties, nor will you get any upgrades or free breakfast from your HYATT status, however.

  12. “Was anyone finally able to get past step 5? I keep getting stuck at the spinning circle of death…”

Called Hyatt, they said there is an issue with the Mlife status linking site and a known issue. Hyatt said that it could be fixed by Sept 18th.

  13. Getting the best price for hotels is really important but the location of the hotel is definitely important as well. The closer you are to the places you want to visit the better. I found this site http://reservationbooth.com, you can find lots of hotels at a cheaper price here and at a location you want.

  14. 1. The Original Post says it is rip off to use Hyatt points for Vegas stays. This is true for Sunday to Thursday. In Vegas, the price for Friday and Saturday is generally 3 times the rate for the other nights. But it takes the same number of Hyatt points. Excalibur for this Friday costs $189 cash, or just 8,000 Hyatt points. You can transfer Amex points to Hyatt.

    2. I haven’t found an M Life benefit that is worth the hassle of getting the card. The supposed VIP line for clubs is crap. You can get on guest lists, and then not even have to pay. M Life makes you pay top dollar. The only decent benefit for M Life is the limo ride from the airport but you need to be Noir level.

  15. Does mlife gold allow guests to skip the buffet line with you?
