American Airlines has released more Economy Web Specials deals.  And right now there are a bunch of discounted domestic awards starting at 5,000 miles one-way, including flights to Orlando (hello, Disney!).

These web specials come and go without warning, so if you see a route you like you should grab it while you can.  Just know that Economy Web Special awards can’t be changed.

If you want to be notified when more deals like this pop up, then subscribe to our newsletter.  And if you want to be stocked up on American Airlines miles for the next time, these cards have limited-time increased bonus offers:

You won’t find a better price for getting to Orlando to visit Universal Studios with American Airlines miles than these deals

American Airlines Economy Web Specials

There isn’t an official expiration date on these deals, and most of these discounts are for shorter flights.  But are some especially good prices on certain flights to Orlando and spots in the Caribbean!

American Airlines’ Economy Web Specials are impossible to predict.  They can be as low as 5,000 miles one-way, which is a great discount over the standard 12,500 miles American Airlines charges for a saver one-way award flight that’s over 500 miles.  But they can also price out at more than double the saver award rate for certain flights.

From the looks of it, the days when the Economy Web Specials are outrageously priced are the days when there aren’t any saver level awards available and the discount is for an Anytime award, which are more expensive to begin with.

Here is a sampling of the discounted one-way flights right now:

  • Charlotte to Cancun from 12,000 miles
  • Chicago to Montego Bay, Jamaica from 7,500 miles
  • Miami to Belize from 7,500 miles
  • New York (LGA and JFK) to Orlando from 5,000 miles
  • Philadelphia to Aruba from 7,500 miles
  • Philadelphia to Orlando from 5,000 miles

My teammate Jason booked a one-way flight from Chicago to Philadelphia just yesterday for only 6,500 American Airlines miles!  So it’s always worth a quick search to see if the flight you want might be discounted.  Just remember, the best deals will go quickly.  So if you’ve had your eye on a certain ticket you might want to take a minute to see if Economy Web Specials awards are available for it.

Look forward to see how I can travel with less points.

Do you still need one of the AA credit cards to take advantage of the economy web specials?

Jason Stauffer

No, you can just search for them on American’s website.

I cannot see any web specials on AA.com when I log onto my account and put down Austin to LAX in December as you show in article. Any idea why? I do not have AA credit card and wonder if this is the reason.

Hi Ben!

I just did a search on the aa.com website and was able to find 5k mile Economy web specials for most of December 2019.

From the aa.com home page, I selected the following options for booking a flight: I selected a 1-way flight, checked the box for “redeeming miles”, flying from AUS to LAX, for 1 passenger.

Let me know if you’re able to see the web specials this way, thanks!

Thanks, I see them now. Does AA show any where on their site which cities have economy web specials?

Hi Ben!

I don’t think there’s a dedicated sale page that lists all of the available routes, so unfortunately you’ll have to check pricing for the specific route you’re interested in.
