Late last year American Airlines switched to dynamic pricing. Although this was a blow to their frequent flyer program, we continue to see a number of incredible award deals through their Economy Web Specials. Some deals are significantly cheaper than we’ve ever seen.
Here’s what you need to know about American Airlines’ Economy Web Specials deals. If you want to be notified when more offers like this pop up, then follow us on Facebook and Twitter or subscribe to our newsletter.
What is an American Airlines Economy Web Special?
American Airlines’ Economy Web Specials offer award tickets at extremely discounted prices. For example, you can find domestic awards starting at 5,000 miles one-way — sometimes even on transcontinental routes. Many routes have been available for 7,500 miles or 10,000 miles, which is still a discount of 2,500-5,000 miles off the standard AA Award chart prices.
Deals like these are some of the best uses of American Airlines miles. Although there isn’t an official expiration date on these deals, once they’re published, they rarely last long.
How to find an Economy Web Special
There’s no easy way to find an Economy Web Special without doing legwork and running various searches on American Airlines’ website. These web specials come and go without warning, so if you see a route you like, you should grab it while you can. Just know that Economy Web Special awards can’t be changed, even if you have American Airlines status.
Here are a few examples of deals we’ve seen in the past:
New York (JFK) to Austin (AUS) for 5,000 miles + $5.60 one-way:
Los Angeles (LAX) to New York (JFK) for 5,000 miles + $5.60 one-way:
Chicago (ORD) to Miami (MIA) for 5,000 miles + $5.60 one-way:
