There’s a new offer to earn 70,000 Hilton points when you sign-up for the American Express Hilton Honors card and spend $1,000 on purchases within the 1st 3 months of opening your account. This is the best bonus I’ve seen for this card! And there’s NO annual fee.
I’ll share the details. And give you ideas about how to use 70,000 Hilton points!
About the AMEX Hilton Honors Card
There’s a better offer for the AMEX Hilton card to earn 70,000 Hilton points when you spend $1,000 on purchases within the 1st 3 months of account opening.
Along with 70,000 Hilton points, you’ll also get:
- 7 Hilton points per $1 spent at most Hilton hotels
- 5 Hilton points per $1 spent at US gas stations, US restaurants, and US supermarkets
- 3 Hilton points per $1 spent on all other purchases
- Free Hilton Silver elite status (late check-out, 2 free bottles of water, and 15% points bonus on Hilton points earned)
- Free Hilton Gold elite status (free breakfast and better upgrades) after spending $20,000 in a calendar year
- Terms & limitations apply
This card has NO annual fee. So it’s a good card to get and keep forever to help boost your credit score. But, it has a ~3% foreign transaction fee, so it’s NOT a good card to use overseas.Hilton hotels include Conrad, Canopy, Curio, DoubleTree, Embassy Suites, Hampton Inn, Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, Hilton Grand Vacations, Home2Suites, Homewood Suites, Tru, and Waldorf Astoria brand hotels.
Keep in mind you can only earn the sign-up bonus on an AMEX personal card once per lifetime. So if you’ve ever earned a bonus from this card, you can NOT get it again.
Who Should Consider This Card?
The AMEX Hilton card is a good choice for folks who are looking for a NO annual fee card that rewards their loyalty to Hilton hotels. Or folks who like a good welcome offer! 🙂
It comes with automatic Hilton Silver elite status, which gets you a 15% points bonus on stays at Hilton hotels. And I like that it earns 3X Hilton points everywhere!
My favorite Hilton card is still the Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve Card, because you earn 2 weekend nights at almost any Hilton after completing the minimum spending requirements. Plus, Hilton Gold elite status is included!
And frequent Hilton travelers might prefer the American Express Hilton Honors Surpass, because it earns the most points for paid Hilton stays.
There are 2 other offers for the AMEX Hilton Honors card which earn fewer points, but with a lower minimum spending requirement:
- Earn 50,000 Hilton points + a $50 statement credit when you spend $750 on purchases within the 1st 3 months of account opening
- Earn 60,000 Hilton points when you spend $750 on purchases within the 1st 3 months of account opening
With the new 70,000 point offer, you’ll get 10,000 or 20,000 more Hilton points for only $250 more in spending. That’s a better deal for most folks.
But as always, run the numbers and choose the offer that’s best for you!

Generally, if you complete the minimum spending ~5 to ~7 days before your account closes for the month, you’ll receive the points at the end of the billing cycle.70,000 Hilton points is enough for 14 award nights at Hilton Category 1 hotels.
And it’s also enough for 7 award nights at Hilton Category 2 hotels!
For example, you can stay at the Hampton Inn & Suites Mexico City – Centro Historico hotel in Mexico City, for only 10,000 Hilton points per night. You could get a stay worth ~$900 with 70,000 Hilton points!
Or you could stay a night at the upscale Conrad Miami for 50,000 Hilton points. And still have 20,000 points left!
Considering rooms here cost ~$400, that’s a fantastic deal!
Emily and I used our Hilton points for a stay at the Hilton Molino Stucky Venice.
A great way to start exploring Hilton hotels you can book with points is with Hilton’s own points search tool.
Emily and I always check TripAdvisor before we book a hotel. And to see where we can use Hilton points for hotel stays, we search Hotel Hustle (which even shows if award rooms are available) and AwardMapper.

There are 2 other offers to earn 50,000 Hilton points + a $50 statement credit or 60,000 Hilton points after spending $750 on purchases within the 1st 3 months of account opening. But for an extra $250 in spending, it’s worth it to go for the higher offer.70,000 Hilton points is enough for 14 nights at a Hilton Category 1 hotel or 7 nights at a Hilton Category 2 hotel.
