The Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card is a great no annual fee card option for folks who still want to earn transferable points or receive a quick and sizable sign-up bonus.

The card also comes with a list of benefits that makes keeping it long term a no-brainer. Some benefits are standard with most credit cards, but others are particularly valuable or unique to Capital One.

Here’s what you need to know about Capital One VentureOne credit card benefits.

Capital One VentureOne benefits

When you sign up for a new VentureOne credit card, you can earn 20,000 Capital One miles after you spend $500 on purchases within the first three months of account opening. That’s worth at least $200 in travel and can be redeemed toward any travel-related purchase.

But depending on your travel plans and preferences, you can get even more value from your miles by transferring the miles to any of the Capital One transfer partners. My favorite transfer partners are Air France/KLM Flying Blue, Singapore Airlines and Virgin Atlantic. If you can find value in any of the transfer partners, the ability to move around your miles can be a great perk.

You’ll also never pay an annual fee on the VentureOne card, making it a great option of folks with minimal credit history looking to improve their score for the long term. And because this isn’t a “premium” credit card, it’s easier to get approved for than some other Capital One credit cards.

In addition to these features, the VentureOne card offers the following benefits:

Earning rate

You’ll earn 1.25 Capital One miles per dollar you spend on all purchases. There are no rotating bonus categories or confusing aspects to this card’s earning structure.

Travel benefits

Benefits only available to accounts approved for the Visa Signature card. Terms apply.

No foreign transaction fees

If you love traveling overseas, it’s wise to bring a credit card that won’t ding you or charge you an additional fee for making purchases outside of the US. The VentureOne card is one of my favorite credit cards with no foreign transaction fees.

Rental car insurance

You’ll get secondary rental insurance when you pay for a rental car using your VentureOne card. This benefit is handy, but you can get even better coverage with one of many credit cards that offer primary rental car insurance.

24-hour travel assistance

Capital One will send you an emergency replacement credit card and even a cash advance if you lose your card and need help. This is great as a back up that you hopefully never need to use.

Protections

$0 fraud liability

With this benefit, you won’t be held responsible for unauthorized charges made with your card so you can have peace of mind using your card anywhere and everywhere. This can save you lots of hassle in the unfortunate event that your card gets compromised or stolen.

Card lock and virtual credit card numbers

In addition to $0 fraud liability, Capital One will allow you to “lock” your credit card from their app in case you notice that you lost it or it was stolen. You can also request virtual credit card numbers to use online in order to protect your real card account information. Both of these are additional nice-to-haves that give Capital One account holders more peace of mind.

Extended warranty

When you use the VentureOne to purchase an eligible item, the card will double the manufacturer’s warranty up to an additional year on eligible warranties of three years or less. That lets you avoid purchasing additional warranties when making big-ticket purchases.

Account monitoring benefits

CreditWise from Capital One

Capital One actually offers CreditWise to anyone (even if you’re not a Capital One customer), and it’s a great monitoring tool for keeping an eye on your credit to prevent against identify theft or credit reporting mistakes.

Eno Assistant

Account Alerts from Eno®: The Eno virtual assitant uses machine learning and AI to determine if it suspects suspicious activity on your card and will send you messages via the Capital One app. You can chat with the assistant like a real human to resolve the issue.

Is the Capital One VentureOne worth it?

If you’ve already got all of the best travel credit cards you’re interested in, the Capital One VentureOne is worth opening. It offers a decent sign-up bonus — and no annual fee means you can keep the card long term and use it to build credit history without worrying about paying a dime.

You also get some benefits like no foreign transaction fees and the ability to transfer miles to travel partners, but those are more common to find on other credit cards as well.
