  1. Hi,

My wife and I have about 300,000 American miles. We were hoping to use them to go to Italy. Is there a way we can redeem these miles on American and also redeem these miles to pay for the hotel as well? When I look at the American website, it seems to say I have to use like 200,000 and then pay a couple of thousand dollars on top of that.

  2. George L. Wiley

How many miles do I have?

  3. Hi,

I recall couple of your past post where you had used miles to book first class/business class tickets for travel to India.
Can you please remind me, which Airline miles should one accumulate for such redemption? I am right now collecting miles on american Airlines.

If I recall correctly, you had mentioned about collecting Alaska/american airlines miles and then spend it on other international Airlines.

  4. Hi Daraius:

I have 40,669 early return miles and is almost impossible to book a trip with them as the places they fly are somehow limited are there any other ways to use those miles? I try to exchange them for advantage miles using the and I couldn’t . they also don’t have a charity program.

I have a United Card with 53000 miles and also ther Barclay World MC with 45000 miles…I also have an Amex delta but with only few miles…Id love to travel to Venice Italy in January…any suggestion on how to accomplish that in the smartest way possible? Should I get the KLM card instead or the AA and use the lower mileage necessary to get there? With United it takes about 60K miles for a round trip for 1 person….any suggestion will be highly appreciate it…thank you!!!

  7. I’m trying to find out how many miles does it take to get from Seattle WA to Madrid Spain with my alaska mileage plan

  8. I’m looking to book my honeymoon in November 2016. I have about 200,000 Chase points. I was wondering what is the best way to use my points to get Thailand?

  9. We are staying at the Hyatt Zilara in Cancun, using your suggestion for getting the Hyatt credit card and using the 2 free nights (each) for the stay. We also transferred points to make it a week. Thank you! The hotel is lovely, it’s only been open a year and everything is new or remodeled, clean, and fun. There’s lot of cabanas to sit under around the pool or beach, the food is excellent with many choices, and the rooms are large and airy. And everything is included! We are totally enjoying our stay.

  10. My wife and I would like to take our sons and their girlfriends on a one week beach vacation for spring break next year – 2017. We would like to leave from California – preferably Oakland or San Francisco the night of March 24 or early March 25 and return on March 31 (when our BA points expire). Combined, we have 106,000 British Air points, 100,000+ Hawaiin Air and 50,000+ Alaska Air points. We were thinking of going to Maui and/or Kauai, but would consider other beach locations. We will be flying from KC, but can get to CA using other points, and one son will be flying from DC or NY using other points. How can we stretch our points the farthest.

  11. I have a lot of AMEX miles, and some United and Delta. I’d like to route from Los Angeles to Auckland to Melbourne, return Sydney to Los Angeles. Any thoughts?

  12. I have abount 50k points with Chase Saphhire, wanna to transfer them to one of the airlines.

Not sure which one should I pick among British Air, Southwest, and United. I usually fly to West Coast, Vancouver or Hong Kong.

Also i have another 100 k with American Express, not sure where to transfer the points to?
Choices between British Air, ANA, Delta, Asia Miles, Air Canada and Emirates…

Thanks in advance for your valuable opions.

  13. Hi Daraius,
Which is the best way to redeem a one-way flight from Japan to Thailand? I have AA, BA Avios, SPG, and Thank You. Business class or premium economy is fine.
    Thank you,
