The Chase Amazon card earns 3% cash back on every purchase you make with Amazon. But if you have an Amazon Prime membership, you’ll earn 5% cash back! That’s a great return for a card with NO annual fee.
You’ll also earn:
- 2% cash back at restaurants, gas stations, and drugstores
- 1% cash back on all other purchases
And now, the card will earn you the same cash back rate at Whole Foods as it earns with Amazon! Cardholders will earn 3% back, and folks with Amazon Prime will earn 5% back. This does NOT appear to be a promotion, but a permanent change.
Is This a Good Deal?
Amazon Prime is a subscription service from Amazon that costs $99 per year. It’s certainly NOT worth subscribing to Amazon Prime just to get an extra 2% cash back for your purchases. But I love the service, because it gets you things like:
- Free 2-day shipping on items sold by Amazon (which are a LOT of things!)
- Unlimited movies and TV shows from their collection
- Unlimited music streaming
- Unlimited storage space for your photos
- Early access to sales and deals
- 1 free Kindle e-book a month
If you’re like most of us at Million Mile Secrets, you already have Amazon Prime. So if you also have the Chase Amazon Prime card, this is a great way to save on healthy and delicious purchases you might make anyway!
Note: I do NOT recommend the Chase Amazon Prime for folks new to the miles and points hobby. That’s because there are better Chase credit cards you should open first. And if you’ve opened 5+ cards from any bank (NOT counting Chase business cards and these other business cards) in the past 24 months, it’s unlikely you’ll be approved for those more valuable cards.
Bottom Line
You can now earn bonus cash back at Whole Foods with your Chase Amazon Prime card! You’ll earn 3% back for using your card, and 5% back if you also have an Amazon Prime subscription.
Emily and I don’t earn a commission on the Chase Amazon Prime, but we’ll always let you know about a good deal!
