Via Point Me to the Plane, you can get up to a 40% bonus on Hyatt points purchases through October 25, 2016.

I like this deal because it’s available to everyone.  And it might be a good way to top off your account if you need points for an award stay.

Similar previous deals were targeted to cardholders or to certain Hyatt members.

Hyatt Buy Points Promotion

Through October 25, 2016, folks can earn up to a 40% bonus on Hyatt points purchases.

To get the deal, log-in to the buy points promotion page.  Then, you’ll see all of the options to purchase points.

There are 2 bonus categories.  You’ll earn a:

  • 30% bonus when you buy between 5,000 and 9,000 Hyatt points.
  • 40% bonus when you buy 10,000+ Hyatt points.

Hyatt limits points purchases to a maximum of 55,000 Hyatt points per year.

Should You Take Part in This Deal?

Hyatt points usually cost $24 for every 1,000 Hyatt points (2.4 cents per point).

But this promotion reduces the price to ~1.7 cents per point.  For example, you can pay $240 for 14,000 Hyatt points, which includes the 40% bonus.

You’ll want to do the math to see if buying points makes sense.

For example, you can pay $528 for 22,000 Hyatt points and 8,800 bonus points.  That’s enough to book an award night at a Category 7 Hyatt hotel like the luxurious Park Hyatt New York, which costs 30,000 Hyatt points per night.

Save Over $500 on a Stay at the Top-Tier Park Hyatt New York, Which Regularly Costs $1,000+ per Night

I found an award night available November 3, 2016.  The same night costs ~$1,066 if you paid cash.  So paying $528 for the points through the promotion would save you more than 50% off your stay!

Remember, Hyatt cardholders can combine this deal with the 10% points back promotion through October 31, 2016.  But only if you registered before August 31, 2016.

Note:  Hyatt points purchases are through a 3rd party.  So you will NOT earn bonus Hyatt points if you pay with a Hyatt credit card or a card with a travel bonus category.

Besides buying points, you can earn points by using the Chase Hyatt card.  Remember, Chase’s stricter application rules do NOT apply to this card!

Hyatt is also a Chase Ultimate Rewards points transfer partner.  So you can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points from cards like the Chase Sapphire Reserve, Chase Sapphire Preferred, or Chase Ink Plus to Hyatt at a 1:1 ratio.

Bottom Line

You can get up to a 40% bonus on Hyatt points purchases through October 25, 2016.

You’ll want to do the math to see if the promotion makes sense for you.  Buying points for an award stay could potentially save you money compared to the actual cost of a room night.
