For a limited time, Citi has increased the sign-up bonus on the Citi Hilton HHonors card to 50,000 Hilton points after you complete the minimum spending requirement.
And you’ll get a $50 statement credit if you spend $50 or more on your 1st Hilton stay within the 1st 3 months of opening your account.
This isn’t the highest bonus I’ve seen for the card. But normally, the sign-up bonus is 40,000 Hilton points and no statement credit, so this is still better than the regular offer.
Let’s see what you get with this card!
What’s the Deal?

With this improved offer for the Citi Hilton HHonors card, you’ll earn 50,000 Hilton points after you spend $1,000 on purchases in the 1st 4 months of opening your account.Hilton hotels include Conrad, DoubleTree, Embassy Suites, Hampton Inn, Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, Home2Suites, Homewood Suites, and Waldorf Astoria brand hotels.
With this card, you’ll also get:
- 6 points for every $1 you spend at Hilton hotels
- 3 points for every $1 you spend at supermarkets, drug stores, and gas stations
- 2 points for every $1 you spend on everything else
- Free Hilton Silver elite status (late check-out, 2 free bottles of water, and 15% points bonus on Hilton points earned)
- Free Hilton Gold elite status (free breakfast and internet) after staying 4 times at Hilton in the 1st 3 months or after spending $20,000 in a calendar year
- 10,000 Hilton points at the end of a calendar when you spend $1,000 or more at Hilton hotels
The Citi Hilton HHonors card has NO annual fee. But it’s not good for travel abroad, because it adds a 3% foreign transaction fee.Note: Starting August 2015, all guests will get free Wi-Fi at Hilton hotels if they book their stay directly through Hilton. However, they’ve introduced this perk early at some hotels.
Many folks have been able to earn the sign-up bonus again even if they’ve had the card before.
But according to Citi, you can NOT get the bonus if you’ve opened or closed the same card in the past 18 months.
There Are Lots of Other Ways to Earn Hilton Points!
The Citi Hilton HHonors card isn’t the only way to earns Hilton points! And there are better Hilton cards. My favorite Hilton card is the Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve, because you get 2 weekend nights at almost any Hilton when you complete the minimum spending requirements. Plus Hilton Gold elite status (free breakfast and internet)!
And you get 1 weekend night certificate after spending $10,000 per cardmember year (starting from your annual fee date) that can be used at almost any Hilton hotel.
That said, if you already have the Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve card, or prefer a card with NO annual fee, the Citi Hilton HHonors card is a good choice. Or you can have both because they’re considered “different card products.”Note: Citi only allows 1 credit card application per day, and no more than 2 personal cards in ~65 days. And you have to wait ~8 days between applications.
Just remember, you’ll get Hilton Silver elite status with the Citi Hilton HHonors Visa. But to earn Gold elite status, you’ll have to spend $20,000 or more in a calendar year, or stay at Hilton 4 times in the 1st 3 months of opening your account.Hilton hotels, other cards earn more points for Hilton stays.
Because the Hilton HHonors Visa is issued by Citi, you get Citi Price Rewind protection for certain purchases.
For a limited time, the sign-up bonus on the Citi Hilton HHonors Visa Signature Card has been increased to 50,000 Hilton points after you meet minimum spending requirements.
Plus you’ll earn a $50 statement credit when you spend $50 or more on your 1st Hilton stay within the 1st 3 months of opening your account.
This is better than the regular offer of 40,000 Hilton points and no statement credit. But there have been offers as high as 60,000 Hilton points in the past.
If you already have other Hilton cards, or prefer a card with no annual fee, this could be a good choice for you!
How would you use 50,000 Hilton points?
