Folks who travel with large families should appreciate this deal!
I’ll tell you about this new offer. And let you know why this is NOT a good card for folks just beginning in miles & points.
Barclaycard Choice Visa Sign-Up Bonus Increased for a Limited-Time
There’s an improved offer for Barclaycard Choice Privileges card through May 31, 2017!
You’ll earn 40,000 Choice points (enough for 5 award nights at many locations) after spending $1,000 on purchases in the first 90 days of opening your account. That’s 8,000 more Choice points than the last offer we saw, and the highest offer ever for this card.
This card also comes with:
- Complimentary Gold elite status (extended award booking window, 10% bonus points on stays, welcome amenity at US Comfort Suites locations)
- 15 Choice points per $1 spent at eligible Choice Hotels when you book with your Choice Privileges membership number (free to join!)
- 5 Choice points per $1 spent on Choice points or gift cards
- 2 Choice points per $1 spent on everything else
- 8,000 bonus Choice points each anniversary year you spend $10,000+ on the card
- NO annual fee
This card adds foreign transaction fees, so it’s not a good card to use outside the US.
What Can You Do With 40,000 Choice Points?
Choice Hotels doesn’t have an award chart, but award nights range from 6,000 to 35,000 (higher in Australasia) Choice points per night. You can also book award nights using points & cash. But it’s not always the best deal.
Plus, you can book incredible 5-star hotels through Preferred Hotels. But these hotels can cost up to 60,000 points per night.
So the 40,000 point sign-up bonus could be worth 6 free nights at lower-end Choice locations. Or you can splurge on a free night at a 5-star Preferred Hotel!
Who Should Consider This Card?Choice Hotels are usually budget and family-friendly, and you can find them in small towns where other hotel chains are NOT. That’s helpful for folks who visit family in non-touristy destinations. Or if you just like to road trip!Choice Hotels include:
Chase will NOT approve you for their cards if you’ve opened 5+ credit cards in the past 24 months (with the exception of certain small business cards). But if you already have lots of cards, and like Choice Hotels, this might be a good deal for you.Note: Barclaycard usually only approves folks for 1 or 2 cards per year. So take a look at other cards, like the Barclaycard Arrival Plus World Elite Mastercard, before you apply! Here’s my review of the Barclaycard Arrival Plus.
Through May 31, 2017, the Barclaycard Choice Privileges card has an increased 40,000 point sign-up bonus .after meeting minimum spending requirements. That’s enough points for 6 free nights at lower category hotels. And enough for a free night at a 5-star Preferred Hotel.
Emily and I don’t get a commission for this card, but we’ll always help you get Big Travel with Small Money!
