Update: One or more card offers in this post are no longer available. Check our Hot Deals for the latest offers.Via ‘dem flyers, there’s a better offer available for the Hilton Honors Surpass Card From American Express.
You’ll earn 80,000 Hilton points after you spend $3,000 on purchases in the 1st 3 months of opening your account.
Usually, the sign-up bonus is 60,000 Hilton points after meeting minimum spending requirements. So this is a good deal (and almost the highest offer I’ve seen for the card!).
Let’s find out if it’s worth signing-up!
What’s the Deal?

With this new offer, you’ll earn 80,000 Hilton points when you sign-up for the American Express Hilton Honors Surpass card and spend $3,000 on purchases in the 1st 3 months of opening your account.
You’ll also get:
- Free Hilton Gold Elite status (free breakfast and internet)
- Free Hilton Diamond status when you spend more than $40,000 in a calendar year (better upgrades)
- 12 points for every $1 you spend at Hilton hotels
- 6 points per $1 you spend at US restaurants, supermarkets & gas stations
- 3 points per $1 you spend on everything else
The annual fee of $75 is NOT waived for the 1st year.
This card earns the most Hilton points for paid stays. So it’s the best card for folks who spend a lot of money at Hilton hotels.
Hilton hotels include Conrad, DoubleTree, Embassy Suites, Hampton Inn, Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, Home2Suites, Homewood Suites, and Waldorf Astoria brand hotels. And the American Express Hilton Honors Surpass card gets you Hilton Gold elite status, which can save you lots of money (free breakfast!).
Remember, you can only earn the sign-up bonus on AMEX personal cards ONCE per person, per lifetime. So if you’ve had this card before, you can NOT get the bonus again.
However, if you have other Hilton cards, like the American Express Hilton Honors, Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve Card, or Citi Hilton HHonors Visa Signature Card, you CAN get the bonus on this card, because it’s considered a different card product.
Remember, because this is an AMEX card, you’ll save money with access to AMEX Offers and free ShopRunner shipping.
This is a great offer! You could use 80,000 Hilton points for a splurge at a fancy Hilton hotel (sometimes worth $700+ per night!), or stretch them for more nights at lower-category hotels.
Check out my top 10 hotels to use Hilton points, and my favorite Hilton hotels in Europe, the US, Australia & the South Pacific, Asia, the Caribbean, and on US beaches.
Don’t forget, if you know where and when you want to travel, use the Hilton Honors Point Search Tool to quickly find hotels.
Lots of Ways to Earn Hilton Points!
There are plenty of other ways to earn Hilton points.
My favorite is still the Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve card. That’s because the sign-up bonus is 2 weekend nights at almost any Hilton after you complete minimum spending requirements.
That said, you could always get both cards! Read this post for help deciding which Hilton card is right for you.
Bottom Line
There’s a better sign-up bonus on the Hilton Honors Surpass Card From American Express! You’ll earn 80,000 Hilton points after you meet minimum spending requirements.
I’m not sure how long this offer will last.
My favorite Hilton card is still the Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve. But the AMEX Hilton Honors Surpass card is a good choice if you already have other Hilton cards, want Hilton Gold Elite status, or spend a lot on Hilton hotels.
