The sign-up bonus on the American Express Surpass card has increased to 75,000 Hilton points after spending $3,000 within 3 months. The usual offer is for 60,000 Hilton points. But the increased offer ends on May 5, 2014.

Up to May 5, 2014, you can get 75,000 points from the American Express Hilton Surpass card after spending $3,000 within 3 months.
However, f you currently have an American Express Hilton Surpass card, you can’t get the 75,000 point offer. And soon AmericanExpress may be limiting sign-up bonuses.
Save ~$45 a Day!
You get free Hilton Gold elite status as long as you have the Hilton Surpass card (and also the Citi Hilton Reserve card).
Hilton Gold status gives you free internet & breakfast! So you save money – especially in Europe where breakfast and internet are expensive. You could save $45 per day ($30 for breakfast for 2 and about $15 for internet) just by having Hilton gold status!
- 12 Hilton points for every $1 spent at Hilton hotels
- 6 points per $1 spent at restaurants, supermarkets & gas stations
- And 3 points per $1 spent on everything else
- Terms and limitations apply
But the $75 annual fee is NOT waived for the 1st year and the card has a 2.7% foreign transaction fee. So it’s not the best card to use outside the US.
Relax at the Airport
You get a Priority Pass membership (a $99 value) when you have the American Express Hilton Surpass card.
A Priority Pass membership is similar to a Lounge Club membership. You can usually use any Priority Pass lounge location worldwide regardless of what airline you’re flying.
But you pay $27 per visit per person. So this may not be worth it.
Fewer Points but a $50 Statement Credit
Last week I posted about a 50,000 points and a $50 statement credit offer on the Citi Hilton card up to April, 18, 2014. This Hilton card is issued by Citi so you should be able to get approved for this card as well as the AMEX Surpass card.
That said, make sure to not apply for more than 1 Citi card every 8 days and no more than 2 Citi cards every 65 days.
You get free Hilton Silver status on the Citi Hilton which gets you into the health clubs for free at Hilton hotels. You also earn an extra 15% of your points on paid stays.
Hilton Surpass vs. Hilton Reserve Card
If I had to pick just ONE Hilton card, I’d pick the Citi Hilton Reserve card. That’s because you get 2 free weekend nights valid at almost all Hilton hotels and because there are no foreign transaction fees on the Hilton Reserve card.
75,000 points sounds like a lot of points, but it isn’t enough for even 1 night at a top category Hilton hotel! But could get you a few nights at the mid-tier Hilton hotels.
Here’s a post which compares the American Express Hilton Surpass card and the Citi Hilton Reserve card.
That said, you could apply for the Hilton Surpass card if you want to stock up on Hilton points.
You can get 75,000 points from the American Express Hilton Surpass card unto May 5, 2014. You also get free Hilton Gold status with the American Express Hilton Surpass card which means free breakfast and internet!
