Up to $50 off your next Amazon order with 1 single Amex point (targeted)

Signing up for credit cards through partner links earns us a commission. Terms apply to the offers listed on this page. Here’s our full Advertising Policy.

Reminiscent of a previous Amex promo, there’s a targeted offer making its rounds allowing you to save up to 40% off your order (up to $50 total) when you pay with just one Amex Membership Rewards point.

If you’ve qualified for this offer in the past, it’s worth checking this one, too. To qualify, you’ll need to have a card that earns Amex points, like The Platinum Card® from American Express, the American Express® Green Card or others from our list of the best Amex cards, linked to your Amazon account.

Save at Amazon with Amex Membership Rewards

This deal officially ends on September 30, 2020, at 11:59 p.m Pacific Time — or when 50,000 customers have redeemed the offer. There are actually two offers, although you’ll likely only qualify for one. The offers are as follows:

  • Save 40%, up to a max of $50 savings when you redeem one Amex Membership Rewards point at checkout
  • Save $20 when you spend $50+ on eligible products and use at least one Amex Membership Rewards point at checkout

To earn the discount you must:

  • Click the “Click to activate” button found here (you’ll need to be signed in to your Amazon account)
  • Spend on eligible products (sold and shipped by Amazon)
  • Use at least one Amex Membership Rewards point from an eligible linked card to pay for the purchase

You will see the savings applied at checkout — and remember that paying for Amazon purchases with Amex Membership Rewards points is normally a bad deal. Amex points are more valuable when you transfer them to travel partners, but in this case, using a single point to save up to 40% is a no-brainer. We value Amex points at two cents apiece, but with this deal, you could be getting a value of up to $50 per point. Just make sure you use only one point when taking advantage of this promotion.

Note, this discount doesn’t apply to digital content and the discount may not be used for Amazon gift cards. That said, you can use it to get discounts on third-party gift cards with retailers like Airbnb, Southwest Airlines, Whole Foods, DoorDash, and more.

Finally, there’s a current Amex Offer where you can earn up to 2,000 bonus Amex points when spending at Amazon. If you’re able to stack both deals, you’d be getting a serious return on your spend.

I haven’t been “eligible” for these offers the last few times. Disappointing.

I tried it with my Azn and my spouse and both of us got “You are not eligible for this offer.”

Is this a one shot deal? Or can it be multiple purchases up to 250 total?

I can’t find anything that works. Tried Panera Bread gift card and toilet paper and some other items shipped by amazon. What do you suggest?

In order to qualify for the credit the item must be shipped and sold by Amazon. There are some items that qualify for even Amazon Prime shipping that aren’t sold by Amazon.
