Update: One or more card offers in this post are no longer available. Check our Hot Deals for the latest offers.

If you’ve been spending at lot with Amazon this deal is for you. You can save up to 40% off your order (with savings up to $50) when you pay with just one Amex Membership Rewards point. If you’ve qualified for this offer in the past it’s worth checking because recently some accounts have been targeted again.

To qualify for this deal, you’ll need to have a card that earns Amex Membership Rewards points, like The Platinum Card® from American Express, the American Express® Green Card or others from our list of the best Amex cards, linked to your Amazon account. And although they’re targeted, I was able to sign up easily (even though I qualified for this promo in the past), so it’s worth checking your account.

Save at Amazon with Amex Membership Rewards

This deal officially ends on June 30, 2020, but Amazon could end the promotion at any time or extend it further, which it has done frequently in the past. There are two offers, although you’ll likely only qualify for one. The offers are as follows:

  • Save 40%, up to a max of $50 savings when you redeem one Amex Membership Rewards point at checkout.
  • Save 30%, up to a max of $30 savings when you redeem one Amex Membership Rewards point at checkout.

To earn the discount you must:

  • Click the “Click to activate” button found here (you’ll need to be signed in to your Amazon account)
  • Spend on eligible products (sold and shipped by Amazon)
  • Use at least one Amex Membership Rewards point from an eligible linked card to pay for the purchase

You will see the savings applied at checkout and remember that paying for Amazon purchases with Amex Membership Rewards points is normally a bad deal. Amex points are more valuable when you transfer them to travel partners, but in this case, using a single point to save up to 40% is a no-brainer. We value Amex points at two cents apiece, but with this deal, you could be getting a value of $50 per point. Just make sure you use only one point when taking advantage of this promotion.

Note, this discount doesn’t apply to digital content and the discount may not be used for Amazon gift cards. That said, you can use it to get discounts on third-party gift cards with retailers like Airbnb, Southwest Airlines, Whole Foods, Doordash and more.

There’s one more deal that’s floating around, which ends on July 31, 2020.

Finally, there’s a current Amex Offer where you can earn up to 2,000 bonus Amex points when spending at Amazon. If you’re able to stack both deals, you’d be getting a serious return on your spend.

TMN has posted how to be eligible for this offer if you initially got the “You are not eligible for this offer”.

https://themoneyninja.com/get-30-off-at-amazon-when-using-1-amex-point/

I tried it with my Azn and my spouse and both of us got “You are not eligible for this offer.”

These comments do not go with this article. Very confusing.

Is this a one shot deal? Or can it be multiple purchases up to 250 total?

I can’t find anything that works. Tried Panera Bread gift card and toilet paper and some other items shipped by amazon. What do you suggest?

Just bought a $200 Southwest gift card and received the 20% off.

In order to qualify for the credit the item must be shipped and sold by Amazon. There are some items that qualify for even Amazon Prime shipping that aren’t sold by Amazon.
