Over the years I’ve collected millions of points and miles with travel rewards credit cards.  And I’m always looking for unique ways to spend them.  Many people within the points and miles community (myself included) can get carried away with earning, and not burning!

About a year ago, I came across the Singapore Airlines Suites on my Facebook feed, and it instantly became my goal.  These seats are consistently ranked as some of the best in the world.

To reach this goal I’ve been focusing on earning American Express Membership Rewards points because they transfer at a 1:1 ratio to Singapore Airlines.  But these aren’t the only flexible points that transfer to Singapore Airlines.  So if you’re interested in earning Singapore Airlines miles, I’ll share some options for doing just that with other transferable points too.  Because Singapore Airlines miles have lots of great uses, like allowing you to book super cheap award flights to Hawaii!

This Is What Makes Earning American Express Membership Rewards Points Worth It!

Transfer Flexible Rewards, Like American Express Membership Rewards Points to Singapore Airlines

There are several ways to earn points to transfer to Singapore Airlines, including Chase Ultimate Rewards, Citi ThankYou Points, and American Express Membership Rewards.  Because I’m over the Chase 5/24 rule, I knew that I had to focus my efforts on other bank’s cards.  I’m an American Express fan because AMEX Membership Reward points have lots of useful transfer partners.  And you can covert AMEX Membership Rewards points to Singapore Airlines miles at a 1:1 ratio.

To get enough miles to book a Singapore Airlines First Class award takes some major points earning.  We will be spending 115,000 Singapore Airlines miles on a First Class flight from Singapore to London.

My wife and I both got The Platinum Card® from American Express and earned the 60,000 AMEX Membership Rewards point welcome bonus.  To earn the intro bonus, you’ll need to spend $5,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening.  So if you include the points we earned from meeting the minimum spending we have each earned 65,000 AMEX Membership Rewards points (60,000 AMEX-point bonus + 5,000 AMEX points for spending).

Just opening that card got each of us over halfway to our dream flight!

Then along came the American Express® Gold Card.  We were both able to get a 50,000 AMEX Membership Rewards point welcome bonus after meeting the minimum spending requirements, which isn’t the typical public offer (targeted offer, subject to change at anytime).  But you can get the same deal if you’re referred by a friend to the card.  My favorite perk of this card is the 4X AMEX Membership Reward points you earn at restaurants, and US supermarkets (on up to $25,000 per calendar year, then 1X AMEX Membership Rewards points after that).

The points we’ve earned with our AMEX Gold cards has given us what we need to transfer to Singapore Airlines and be on our way!  I love the American Express Gold Card as I am an avid foodie, even with living in Salt Lake City, Utah, which is an average foodie city at best.

Investing in a credit card with the ability to transfer points has paid off incredibly as we are getting ready to book our Singapore Airlines adventure!

If you’re interested in booking a similar trip all of these cards earn flexible rewards points that can be transferred to Singapore Airlines at a 1:1 ratio:

  • Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card
  • Chase Sapphire Reserve®
  • Citi Premier℠ Card
  • Ink Business Cash℠ Credit Card
  • Ink Business Preferred℠ Credit Card
  • Ink Business Unlimited℠ Credit Card
  • The Business Platinum® Card from American Express
