IHG, like other hotel chains, have multiple brands to meet the needs of different types of guests.

For example, business travelers might choose one brand for upscale amenities, like a hotel lounge or business center.  While folks traveling on an extended vacation might choose a brand with full kitchens in hotel rooms to save on eating out.

IHG hotels include:

Here’s what you can expect at each brand!

1.   Candlewood Suites

Candlewood Suites is an all-suite extended-stay hotel brand.  You’ll typically find business travelers at these hotels during the week because rooms are spacious with fully-equipped kitchens.

This brand might not be ideal for family getawaysBecause most Candlewood Suites hotels don’t have a pool.

But it can be easy to find available award nights at these hotels.  For example, team member Keith used IHG points for a Friday night stay at the Candlewood Suites Denver West Federal Center when he was taking a road trip through Colorado.

2.   Crowne Plaza

Crowne Plaza hotels are typically in great locations, including in major cities or near airports.  Guests at these hotels are often business travelers because they’re located near corporate hubs or convention centers.

But folks traveling for leisure might find the hotel locations attractive.  For example, the Crowne Plaza Lima is located in the popular Miraflores district, which is next to restaurants, cafes, and museums.  And it’s just ~2 miles to the popular Huaca Pucllana ruins.

3.   EVEN Hotels

There are only 6 EVEN Hotels.  They are all within the US, including 3 in New York City.

This hotel brand is designed for health-conscious travelers.  You’ll typically find excellent fitness centers and in-room training areas with medicine balls.

And for breakfast or dinner, you’ll find many healthy menu items, including lots of organic options!

4.   Holiday Inn

There are more than 1,100 Holiday Inn hotels throughout the world.

This brand is a great option for families because children ages 19 and under stay free when sharing their parents’ room.  And up to 4 kids ages 12 and under eat free any time of the day in any Holiday Inn on-site restaurant.

5.   Holiday Inn Club Vacations

Holiday Inn Club Vacations can be a fantastic option for families or large groups.  This vacation ownership chain includes 13 locations, mostly in popular tourist or beach destinations.

You do NOT have to be a vacation owner to stay at these hotels.

Million Mile Secrets team member Jasmin used the free anniversary night from her Chase IHG card to stay at the Holiday Inn Orange Lake Resort in Orlando.  She booked a huge 2-bedroom villa that slept 8, with a full kitchen, living and dining room, in-suite laundry, and patio.

6.   Holiday Inn Express

Holiday Inn Express is the largest brand within the IHG chain with nearly 2,500 hotels.

These hotels are typically simple in design and are great for a short-term stay if you want an affordable price without fancy amenities.  In the US, these hotels also offer complimentary buffet breakfast.

Once you check-in, you won’t have to leave because hotels offer lots of amenities, including kids’ clubs, swimming pools, restaurants, and lounges.

8.   Hotel Indigo

Other IHG hotel brands have similar characteristics throughout all their locations.  But Hotel Indigo is a chain of boutique hotels.  So each location has a unique design, which is meant to reflect the character and history of local neighborhoods.

We stayed at the one you mention above in Orlando–Holiday Inn Club vacations. It was wonderful!

Should Kimpton Hotels not also be part of the list?

Million Mile Secrets

You’re correct that Kimpton is an IHG brand. Unfortunately, you can’t use IHG points to stay at these hotels though.

Excellent Article.. Thank you so much!

We have enjoyed the Intercontinental in Monterey, right on Cannery Row, and the Intercontinental in Amsterdam. Both were outstanding facilities with good service.
