Earning sign-up bonuses by applying for new credit cards is the quickest and easiest way to accumulate points to save money on travel or earn cash back. That’s one reason I applied for a second Ink Business Preferred Credit Card.
When you sign-up for the Ink Business Preferred card, you’ll earn 100,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points after meeting minimum spending requirements. This is the highest sign-up bonus among any travel credit card that earns Chase Ultimate Rewards points. You can cash out that bonus for $1,000 in cash or easily book $1,250+ in travel, once things get back to normal.
Unlike with American Express cards, it’s possible to earn a bonus on more than one of the same Chase business credit card. But admittedly, I was a bit skeptical that Chase would approve me given I already have the card. Plus, the second Ink Business Preferred is my sixth active Chase small business card.
I actually was not instantly approved after submitting my card application. I had to call the reconsideration line and provide additional information about my business activities. After a ~10 minute call, they shifted credit from one of my other small business cards and approved me. You can check out our guide with Ink Business Preferred approval tips to see everything you should know before applying for the card or if you’re not approved right away. And if you need help applying, read our step-by-step guide to completing a Chase business card application.
Apply for the Ink Business Preferred 100,000-point offer
The best part is I applied for both Ink Business Preferred cards using just my social security number. I don’t have separate tax ID numbers (EINs) or corporate entities. I just apply as a sole proprietorship.
One of the main reasons I applied for a second Ink Business Preferred was to help organize my expenses between my different business activities. For example, I resell items for profit on eBay, do some real estate consulting and also work as a freelance writer. So having separate business cards for different business activities helps me track expenses.
Right now the Chase Ink Business Preferred card offers the best welcome offer of any Chase credit card. You can earn 100,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points after spending $15,000 on purchases within the first three months of account opening. With the Ink Business Preferred, you can redeem Chase Ultimate Rewards points for cash back at one cent per point or get even more value by redeeming them for travel (including airfare, hotels and car rentals) through the Chase Ultimate Rewards travel portal or transfer points to hotel and airline partners. At a minimum, the sign-up bonus is worth $1,250 in travel through the Chase travel portal.
The Ink Business Preferred has a $95 annual fee which isn’t waived for the first year. However, given that the welcome bonus alone is worth at least $1,000, this makes it a rewards credit card that is well worth it for virtually everyone who qualifies for business credit cards.
If you don’t have multiple businesses and aren’t eligible for more than one Ink Business Preferred, you could still apply for a different version of the Ink card for the same business. Both the Ink Business Cash Credit Card and the Ink Business Unlimited Credit Card have no annual fee and are solid business credit cards that earn cash back. Currently, both cards comes with a $750 bonus cash back after you spend $7,500 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.
