Can You Receive the Sign-Up Bonus Again on the Wells Fargo Propel World AMEX Card?

I applied for a second Wells Fargo Propel World American Express Card.  Am I eligible for the 40,000 point sign-up bonus, since I already received it the first time I applied?

I haven’t tried it myself, but according to comments on Doctor of Credit, you CAN earn the sign-up bonus more than once on the same Wells Fargo card.

But, you can now only apply for the Wells Fargo Propel World AMEX card in-branch.

To apply for 1 of the Wells Fargo Propel cards, you’ll need an existing Wells Fargo relationship.  And, you can only apply for the Wells Fargo Propel World AMEX card in-branch.

The 3 Wells Fargo Propel AMEX cards are considered different card products.

Folks on Reddit report you can NOT downgrade or “product change” between the 3 cards.  But, Doctor of Credit of reports you can earn the sign-up bonus on the same card more than once.

To get a 2nd Propel card, you’ll need to submit a new application.

Here’s a summary of the perks on the 3 Wells Fargo Propel cards.

Wells Fargo Propel World AMEX

The Propel World AMEX offer is no longer available online.  With this card, you’ll get:

• 40,000 points after spending $3,000 in the first 3 months
• 3 points per $1 you spend on purchases directly from airlines (online travel agencies don’t count)
• 2 points per $1 you spend on purchases directly from hotels (online travel agencies don’t count)
• 1 point per $1 you spend on everything else
• 10% annual points bonus if you have a bank account with Wells Fargo (more if you have an investment account)
• $100 statement credit for airline incidentals (like baggage fees, lounges, onboard food & drink)
• No foreign transaction fees
• Travel perks including a luxury hotel program, concierge, and vacation, cruise, and car rental discounts
• Annual fee of $175, waived for the first year

Folks on FlyerTalk say you can redeem Wells Fargo points for more than 1 cent per point.  This means the bonus on the Propel World card (40,000 points) could be worth over $600 in travel, which is a great deal!

Wells Fargo Propel 365 AMEX

The Wells Fargo Propel 365 AMEX gets you:

• 20,000 points after spending $3,000 in the first 3 months
• 3 points per $1 you spend at US gas stations
• 2 points per $1 you spend at US restaurants
• 1 point per $1 you spend on everything else
• 10% annual points bonus if you have a bank account with Wells Fargo (more if you have an investment account)
• No foreign transaction fees
• Travel perks including a luxury hotel program, concierge, and vacation, cruise, and car rental discounts
• Annual fee of $45, waived for the first year

If you already have the Propel World card, the Propel 365 is the next best option.  Because the 20,000 point sign-up bonus is worth at least $200.

Wells Fargo Propel AMEX

The Wells Fargo Propel AMEX is the newest addition to Propel card lineup.

There’s no annual fee, but no sign-up bonus either.  You’ll also get:

• 3 points per $1 you spend at US gas stations
• 2 points per $1 you spend at US restaurants
• 1 point per $1 you spend on everything else
• 10% annual points bonus if you have a bank account with Wells Fargo (more if you have an investment account)
• Travel perks including a luxury hotel program, concierge, and vacation, cruise, and car rental discounts

Remember Wells Fargo points on all 3 Propel cards expire 5 years from the date you earn them.  But, there’s no limit to how many points you can earn!

Depending on your travel goals, the Propel AMEX cards can be good for some folks.  But if you’re considering any Chase cards, apply for those first because of Chase’s stricter approval rules.

Third-Party AMEX Cards

The 3 Wells Fargo Propel cards are issued by Wells Fargo under the AMEX brand.  This means they do NOT count towards the AMEX card limits.

The same goes for other 3rd-party AMEX cards like the US Bank AMEX cards.

• Auto Rental Collision and Liability Insurance
• Emergency Assistance
• Extended Warranty
• Lost Luggage Insurance
• Retail Protection

You can also use your Propel AMEX card to register for AMEX Offers available on:

This can be an easy way to save money at places like DoubleTree or Jet.com.

You will NOT be able to register your Propel cards for AMEX offers through your AMEX account.

Bottom Line

You can earn the sign-up bonus on the Wells Fargo Propel World AMEX card more than once.  But, you can now apply for this card in-branch only.  Or, you could apply online for one of the other Propel AMEX cards.

Before you apply for the Wells Fargo cards, I’d suggest getting the Chase Sapphire Preferred.  It’s the top card I recommend for folks new to miles & points.

The 3 Wells Fargo cards could be good for folks who’ve already opened the maximum number of cards they can get from Chase, Citi, Barclays, or other big banks.  Remember, you’ll need an existing Wells Fargo relationship to apply.
