A couple of weeks ago, I let you know that you can earn lots of Marriott points by participating in upcoming social media promotions.  And via Live From a Lounge, Marriott is celebrating the eclipse with one of these social media deals!

You can earn 50 Marriott points for sharing on Twitter where you’re viewing today’s solar eclipse!

Tell Marriott Where You’ll Be for Today’s Eclipse and Get Free Points!

That’s not a lot of points, but I’ll tell you why earning even 50 Marriott points can be useful!

The Great American Eclipse is finally here!  And Marriott is celebrating by giving folks 50 Marriott points for either:

  • Tweeting where you’re viewing the solar eclipse along with hashtags #SolarEclipse2017 and #RewardsPoints
  • Sharing this tweet with your followers

Sharing a tweet takes literally just ONE second.  So these could be the easiest points you’ve ever made!  But the deal is only good for today.

You can’t do much with 50 Marriott points.  But something is better than nothing.  And small promotions like this can add up!

Want More Marriott Points?

If you’re short on Marriott points, there are plenty of credit cards you can open to earn them quickly.

The Chase Marriott Rewards Premier personal card comes with 80,000 Marriott points after spending $3,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening.  Plus 7,500 Marriott points when you add an authorized user who makes a purchase in the first 3 months of opening your account.

And the Chase Marriott Rewards Premier small business card comes with 80,000 Marriott points when you spend $3,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of opening your account.

Note:   If you’ve opened 5+ cards from any bank (NOT counting Chase business cards and these other business cards) in the past 24 months, it’s unlikely you’ll be approved for the personal version of this card.  However, the Chase Marriott Premier Business card is NOT affected by this rule!  So it’s possible to get it even if you’re over the “5/24 rule”.

You can also open AMEX Starwood credit cards and transfer the points to Marriott at a 1:3 ratio (1 Starwood points = 3 Marriott points)!  The Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express  comes with 25,000 Starwood points after spending $3,000 within the first 3 months of account opening.

And the Starwood Preferred Guest® Business Credit Card from American Express comes with 25,000 Starwood points after spending $5,000 within the first 3 months of account opening.

Bottom Line

Today only, you can earn 50 Marriott points by either tweeting at Marriott where you’re viewing the solar eclipse along with hashtags #SolarEclipse2017 and #RewardsPoints.  Or for sharing this tweet with your followers.

That’s a super easy way to earn a few points!

Enjoy the quick points, and happy eclipsing!

Please provide some easy way to reply or enter drawings for those of us who don’t tweet.

Still just leaving this up. You really need to take this down and post a follow up of the facts before someone believes you!

Thank you for catching the mistake! It’s been fixed. Enjoy the eclipse!

This headline and article is not true. Please send some more time fact checking/researching instead of selling credit cards.

The info has been updated. Thank you for notifying us! It’s never our intention to mislead our fantastic readers. 🙂

Points earned on social media don’t count for keeping your points from expiring. I would hate for someone to lose their points because they thought this would work.

You’re right! And the post has been updated. Enjoy the eclipse!

These things do not count towards keeping your account active but they are a great way to earn some extra points.
