Folks who shop at Sam’s Club can choose from several terrific credit cards to earn miles or cash back on purchases.

Some cards include warehouse clubs, like Sam’s Club, as a bonus category.  So it’s possible to earn bonus cash back on purchases you were already planning!

I’ll share the best credit cards to use at Sam’s Club, including several with no annual fee.

The best card to use at Sam’s Club might depend on your recent applications.

For example, if you recently got a new card and are working to meet minimum spending requirements, I’d recommend using that card until you earn the sign-up bonus.

But after that, here are 5 excellent cards to use to earn rewards!

1.   Discover it

Folks can do well at Sam’s Club with the no annual fee Discover it card when wholesale clubs are included in card’s 5% cash back rotating quarterly bonus categories.

For example, wholesale clubs are included in the 5X categories through June 30, 2017.  We’ll have to see if it stays on after!

With the 5X bonus categories, you can earn $75 cash back on up to $1,500 in purchases each quarter after you activate the bonus.

And for new cardmembers, Discover will match the cash back you’ve earned at the end of your first 12 billing cycles.  So any purchases you made in the 5% bonus categories will get you 10% cash back!

2.   Bank of America Cash Rewards

There are 2 no annual fee Bank of America cash back cards which include wholesale clubs as a bonus category.

With the BankAmericard Cash Rewards Visa and MLB BankAmericard Cash Rewards card, you can earn 2% cash back at wholesale clubs on up to $2,500 in spending each quarter.

You’ll also get a 10% bonus if you deposit your cash back into a Bank of America checking or savings account!

For example, when you redeem $50 cash back, you’ll get $55 in your bank account.

3.   AMEX Starwood Cards

With the AMEX Starwood card, you’ll earn 1 point per $1 spent at Sam’s Club.

That means every $1 spent on the AMEX Starwood cards is worth up to 1.25 airline miles!

You’ll earn 1% cash back on every purchase, and another 1% cash back when you make payments, as long you meet the minimum payment on your monthly statement.

Chase Ultimate Rewards points are my favorite type of flexible rewards.  Because you can get Big Travel when you transfer points to partners like Hyatt!

Bottom Line

There are lots of terrific credit cards to use at Sam’s Club to earn miles, points, or cash back.

For example, earn 5% cash back at Sam’s Club with the no annual fee Discover it when wholesale clubs are included in rotating quarterly bonus categories.

Or use the AMEX Starwood card to earn valuable Starwood points, which you can transfer to airline partners.

But if you’re purchasing a big-ticket item like a a new television or computer, you might want to use a card like the AMEX Premier Rewards Gold.  Because you’ll get extended warranty benefits.

  1. article states that you can use visa ONLY online. this is incorrect, used my Freedom last night.

  2. Costco only takes Visa in the club, but I used Discover to buy $1500 worth of Costco cash cards on Costco.com. It triggered the 5% bonus. AmEx is the only card that this trick doesn’t work for.
