This is a terrific perk for your Starwood hotel stays.  Because you earn extra bonus points and get late check-outs and room upgrades when available.

Here’s how.

Step 1.   Log-In to Your AMEX Account

First, log-in to your AMEX account.  Make sure your AMEX Platinum Card is selected.  Then click on the “Benefits” page.

Step 2.   Enroll for Starwood Gold Elite Status

Next, scroll down to find the Starwood Preferred Guest Gold status benefit and click on “Enroll in Starwood Gold.“

Step 3.   Enter Starwood Number of the Person You’re Giving Gold Status To

The last step is to enter the Starwood loyalty number you want to gift with Starwood Gold elite status.

Step 4.   Wait for Confirmation From Starwood

It can take up to 72 hours for Starwood Gold status to become active.  You’ll get an email from Starwood once it’s done.
