Marriott is running one of the best miles & points sweepstakes we’ve ever seen!  Folks can enter this contest for a chance to win 3,750,000 Marriott points.  Here are the details:

You don’t need to make a Marriott booking to enter this contest.  You can also enter by filling out handwritten entries on 3 X 5 inch note cards (sound familiar??) with the following information:

  • Full name
  • Address
  • Day and evening phone numbers
  • Email address
  • Marriott account number
  • Date of birth

You can submit up to 20 note cards (so your hand won’t cramp as badly as similar promotions in the past!).  But only one per envelope.

You can do a LOT with 3,750,000 Marriott points.  That’s enough for 53 nights at top-tier Ritz-Carlton hotels, like the Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman, or Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch.

The Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch Costs ~$1,500 per Night During Ski Season. But You Can Book a Free Night for 70,000 Marriott Points

Plus, because of the Marriott Starwood merger, you can transfer Marriott points to Starwood at a ratio of 3:1 (3 Marriott points = 1 Starwood point).  So you can use your Marriott points for Starwood hotels, too.  Or transfer your points from your Starwood account to valuable airline partners for free flights!

You can earn lots of Marriott points by applying for the Chase Marriott personal and small business cards.  Both cards come with a sign-up bonus of 80,000 Marriott points after meeting minimum spending requirements.

You can also apply for the improved sign-up bonuses that come with the AMEX Starwood personal and small business cards.  Until April 5, 2017, these cards come with an increased sign-up bonus of 35,000 Starwood points after meeting tiered minimum spending requirements.

Because you can transfer Starwood points to Marriott at a 1:3 ratio, these AMEX Starwood sign-up bonuses are equal to 105,000 Marriott points each!

Just remember, Chase won’t approve you for the Marriott credit cards if you’ve opened 5+ new credit cards from ANY bank in the past 24 months (excluding certain small business cards).  And you won’t receive the sign-up bonus on the AMEX Starwood cards if you’ve earned them in the past.

Bottom Line

Marriott is giving away 3,750,000 Marriott points to a lucky member who enters their sweepstakes by May 31, 2017.  Folks can enter multiple times by making reservations through Marriott’s mobile app.  Or submitting hand written entries through the mail!

  1. Even better – if you are non-US all you have to do is send 20 e-mails for a total of 60 entries.

  2. Xerxes Herrington

Can you only send in 1 envelope with 20 entries?

  3. Has ANYONE in the known world, EVER won the grand prize via the mail – in method?? These companies only state this method for legal reasons, and most likely just dump all mail ins into the trash. Only bona fide method is RNG.

    • mo: This is being handled by the same company that handled the IHG Priceless contest last year. That one had “lesser” prizes, so it was obvious that they did not throw out our entries since most of us won various point prizes and some others.

So, no, they won’t be thrown out and will be counted.

That being said, this isn’t worth it to me. I’m not a “gambler.” I’m not spending $10 in postage and supplies and that must of my time just for a tiny chance at the grand prize. With the IHG Priceless promotion, it wasn’t “gambling” because you were guaranteed wins that would make it worth it. But, for this one, just not worth my time. I don’t buy lotto tickets. For those that do, then go for it! 🙂

In any case, they will be counted, I’m sure.

  4. I actually have won a grand prize by mail several years back. $10k in cash. Not a bad day that was. After taxes of course, it was not so much.

  5. What would they report to the IRS as the value for taxes?

    • per the offical rules they are valuing it at $46k+, but they also give the winner 10k to help pay the taxes, if the winner is a US resident.

  6. Where do you send the handwritten notecard?

  7. For the notecard option, can you please provide the address of where to mail them to? Thank you!
