Don’t forget! If you haven’t activated your Chase Freedom 4th quarter 5X points (5% cash back) category bonus already, today, December 14, 2016, is your last chance!
Here’s how to make the most of this quarter’s bonus. And how to get Big Travel from the Chase Freedom!
Earn Chase Ultimate Rewards Points Quickly With the Chase Freedom Bonus Categories!
Link: Chase Freedom
Each quarter, the Chase Freedom has rotating 5X bonus categories (5% cash back). This quarter you’ll earn 5X Chase Ultimate Rewards points at department stores, wholesale clubs (like Sam’s Club), and drug stores.
But you must activate the bonus! And December 14, 2016, is your last chance to register for this quarter’s bonus. It runs through December 31, 2016.
Even if you activate now, you’ll earn 5X points for bonus category spending from October 1, 2016 onward. I
Note: Grocery purchases at stores like Walmart and Target do NOT qualify for 5X bonus points.
How Does the 5X Ultimate Rewards Points Bonus Work?
That means you can earn up to 7,500 Chase Ultimate Rewards points ($75 cash back) every 3 months. So it’s possible to earn up to 30,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points ($300 cash back) each year (5X points X $1,500 X 4 quarters).
Why the Chase Freedom Is One of My Favorite Cards
And don’t forget, if you also have the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Sapphire Reserve, Chase Ink Preferred, Chase Ink Plus (no longer available), or Chase Ink Bold (no longer available), you can move Chase Ultimate Rewards points earned from the Chase Freedom to one of those accounts.
And then transfer your Chase Ultimate Rewards points to terrific travel partners like United Airlines, Hyatt, and Southwest for Big Travel!
The Chase Freedom also comes with:
- 15,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points ($150 cash back) when you spend $500 on purchases in the first 3 months of opening your account
- 2,500 Chase Ultimate Rewards points ($25 cash back) when you add an authorized user and make a purchase within the first 3 months of opening your account
- Unlimited 1% cash back on non-bonus purchases
Just remember, Chase has changed their card application rules. So if you’ve opened 5 or more credit cards in the past 24 months, it’s unlikely you’ll be approved for any Chase Ultimate Rewards points-earning cards, like the Chase Freedom.
Note: The Discover It is a similar no-annual-fee card with rotating bonus categories. And if you’re a new cardmember, Discover will match your card’s cashback earnings after 12 billing cycles (including the $50 sign-up bonus!). So 5% bonus categories turn into 10% bonus categories for the first year!
Today, December 14, 2016, is the last day you can activate the Chase Freedom’s 4th quarter bonus categories, which include department stores, wholesale clubs (like Sam’s Club), and drug stores.
You can earn up to 7,500 bonus Chase Ultimate Rewards points ($75 cash back) every 3 months by activating these categories!
