I made a last-minute trip to Australia to surprise my mom on her 60th birthday where she was visiting my sister. And I planned this trip literally 3 days before I left.

Because it was my mom’s 60th birthday, I surprised her with a 2 night stay at the Park Hyatt Sydney. I paid cash for the 1st night and used 30,000 Hyatt points for the 2nd night.
I emailed the hotel in advance explaining that it was her birthday, and they upgraded her to an Opera Deluxe room for both nights.
And it had a fantastic view of the opera house!
The room was spacious with a king sized bed and soaker tub. With the door open, you could see the harbor and opera house from the bathtub!
The bathroom had a good sized counter with double sinks…
…and in my expert opinion, the amenities smelled good. My mom liked the bath salts…
…and the comfy robes hanging in the bathroom. It was almost spa-like.
There was a little dining area which had a great view of the opera house.
Every night there was a little treat waiting in the room.
In warmer weather, the balcony would be a nice place to relax with a coffee and a good book!
A few minutes after we went to her room, we were surprised with a yummy birthday cake!
But the most memorable part of the room was the gorgeous view of the Sydney Opera house.
The upgraded room and special touches from the Park Hyatt Sydney staff made this a memorable visit for my mom!
See my next post for our tour of the Sydney Opera House!
