Great news!  From View From the Wing, you can get FREE oneworld Ruby status on American Airlines.  That gives you perks like free checked bags, priority check-in, and priority boarding!

Because Air Berlin is offering folks free Silver Elite status, which is equivalent to oneworld Ruby status, for 4 months.  And all you have to do is sign-up by November 30, 2016!

This could help you save time at the airport if you’re traveling over the busy holiday season. 😉

American Airlines Elite Status

Getting Free oneworld Ruby Elite Status Will Save You Time at the Airport When You Fly American Airlines, Because of Perks Like Check-In and Boarding!

Here’s how to take advantage of this deal!

Free oneworld Ruby Status

Link:   Air Berlin Free Elite Status Offer

When you sign-up for free Silver Elite status with Air Berlin through this deal, you’ll get free oneworld Ruby Elite status for 4 months.  This gets you perks like 1 free checked bag, and priority security, check-in, and boarding.

And if you earn at least 8,500 Air Berlin miles or fly 8+ Air Berlin flights within the first 4 months of registering, your Silver status (aka oneworld Ruby Elite status!) will be extended for another 12 months.

The offer is set to expire November 30, 2016, but I’d recommend applying sooner rather than later, because Air Berlin could pull it anytime!  Especially if lots of folks start signing-up.

American Airlines Elite Status

Get 1 Free Checked Bag With oneworld Ruby Elite Status!

And don’t forget, to get oneworld Ruby Elite status perks on an American Airlines flight, you’ll have to add your Air Berlin frequent flyer number to your American Airlines ticket.

By adding your Air Berlin frequent flyer number to your ticket, you’ll earn Air Berlin miles, NOT American Airlines miles.

Some folks suggest switching your frequent flyer number on your reservation back to American Airlines after you’ve checked in and gone through security.  That way you’ll get the perks, but can still earn miles on American Airlines.

But you should be able to get Elite perks on both paid AND award tickets.

How to Register

To register, go to the offer page.  The Air Berlin page will be in German, but you can use Google to translate the page to English.

From there, you’ll be able to register for 4 free months of Air Berlin’s Silver Elite status, which is equivalent to oneworld Ruby Elite status.

Filling out the registration form is easy, and only takes ~1 minute!

Although it will take a few days to show on your account, so if you want to use the Elite status perks for Thanksgiving travel, sign-up now!

Is it Worth It?

If you have an upcoming American Airlines flight and don’t already have elite status, this deal is certainly worth it!  Because signing-up is quick and easy.

But it probably isn’t worth it if you don’t have a trip planned with American Airlines anytime soon.  Unless you know you’ll meet the additional requirements for having your status extended another 12 months.

If you need more American Airlines miles for a particular trip, check out my post about all the ways to earn American Airlines miles.

Or considering sign-up for a card like the Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite(TM) MasterCard®.

With this card, you’ll earn 50,000 American Airlines miles after meeting minimum spending requirements.  But the $450 annual fee is NOT waived the first year.

Bottom Line

Through November 30, 2016, Air Berlin is offering folks free Silver Elite status, which is equivalent to oneworld Ruby Elite status.  That offers perks on American Airlines flights like 1 free checked bag, and priority check-in and boarding!

So, if you have an upcoming American Airlines flight and don’t already have American Airlines Elite status, this is a great deal!

If you’re interested in taking advantage of the offer, I’d apply sooner rather than later.  Because Air Berlin could decide to remove it anytime!

  1. Hi, Is everyone trying to access the site. Its very slow

  2. The website is very slow but it loaded after about a minute. I applied but have not received the confirmation email yet. Has anyone recieved the email yet? Also, does anyone know how I will be able to put my air berlin number onto an existing american airlines reservation?

    • Folks have already reported getting their emails. Just remember, it will take a few days for the Elite status to reflect on your account.

The easiest way to add your Air Berlin number to your ticket is to call American Airlines to have it added.

    • I received the confirmation email to activate my account. I dont know how to go about putting the Air Berlin # on the existing AA reservation. I tried calling AA to put the Air Berlin # on the reservation but they were not ale to help since Air Berlin is not the carrier for my flight. Can someone help?

  3. An unexpected error has occurred. Please try again later, or ask the contact center for more help.

    Anyone getting that?

  4. How do i add my AirBerlin # to my American Airlines ticket?

  5. I registered and got status as: Classic. Any one can help telling me anything during registration I did wrong? Thanks!

  6. Has anyone who commented below, been successful in getting the Air Berlin # added?

  7. I also got just the Classic status and 300 awards miles.

  8. Done! I have a flight Dec. 1 booked with AVIOS on AA metal. Will my new status reflect in time to get a free checked bag on my MIA to SJU flight? Thanks for the awesome tip!

  9. Does this provide any perks on an AA award flight (which requires your AA miles number to be associated with the ticket)?

  10. Has anyone received the confirmation yet? I signed up on Sunday(11/20) but so far no reply.

  11. after four days and still showing Classic status. Does it take some to=ime for them to change it?

  12. Hi,

I signed up on November 21 and still classic status. Has anyone who already commented or signed up received silver status?

  13. I think it is important to note, that with the AAdvantage cards via Citi most have 24 month language now. So you can only get the bonus every 24 months for all cards in the product range.
