If you’ve been considering applying for either the AMEX Gold Delta or AMEX Platinum Delta personal card, now is a great time to apply.  Because both cards are offering increased sign-up bonuses through November 9, 2016!

Gold Delta SkyMiles Card From American Express

If you go to Delta’s homepage, you’ll see the 50,000 Delta miles sign-up bonus offer for the AMEX Gold Delta card in the bottom right-hand corner of the page.  Do NOT use this link!  Because you’ll only get a $50 statement credit in addition to the sign-up bonus.

  • Priority boarding
  • Discount on Delta SkyClub lounge passes

The $95 annual fee is waived the first year.

Note:   If you don’t think you’ll use the statement credit for a Delta purchase, or don’t want to fuss with a test booking, here’s a direct link to the improved offer.  But it only includes a $50 statement credit when you make a Delta purchase in the first 3 months of opening your account.

Platinum Delta SkyMiles Card From American Express

Link:   Platinum Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card (personal)

With the personal version of the AMEX Platinum Delta card, you’ll earn 70,000 Delta miles and 10,000 Medallion qualification miles after spending $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of opening your account.  That’s TWICE the usual bonus of 35,000 Delta miles!

And if you make a Delta purchase in the first 3 months of account opening, you’ll earn a $100 statement credit.

But you must apply by November 9, 2016.

You’ll also get:

  • First checked bag free for yourself and up to 8 traveling companions on the same reservation
  • 2 miles per $1 you spend on Delta
  • 1 mile per $1 you spend on everything else
  • 20% discount on certain Delta in-flight purchases
  • Priority boarding
  • Domestic round-trip companion certificate each year on your card anniversary
  • Discount on Delta SkyClub lounge passes
  • 10,000 Medallion qualifying miles and 10,000 bonus miles when you spend more than $25,000 in a calendar year.  And an additional 10,000 Medallion qualifying miles and 10,000 bonus miles when you spend $50,000 in the same timeframe.
  • Pay With Miles
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Terms and restrictions apply

The $195 annual fee is NOT waived for the first year.

Just remember, American Express only allows folks to get the sign-up bonus ONCE per person, per lifetime on ALL their cards.  So if you’ve had any of these cards before, you won’t be eligible for the sign-up bonus again.

But if you already have the business version of the card, you can still get the personal card, because they’re considered different card products.

Don’t forget to check out my posts about the increased sign-up bonuses on the business versions of the Delta AMEX cards!   And more ways to use your Delta miles, like for a trip to Europe, or how to use the sign-up bonuses from the AMEX Delta cards for $1,000+ off flights without searching for award tickets.

Bottom Line

Through November 9, 2016, the personal versions of the AMEX Gold Delta card and AMEX Platinum Delta card are offering increased sign-up bonuses.  These match the better offers for the business versions of these cards!

You’ll earn 50,000 Delta miles after meeting minimum spending requirements with the AMEX Gold Delta card.  And 70,000 Delta miles with the AMEX Platinum Delta card.

To find the better offer for the AMEX Gold Delta card, make a test booking and you’ll see the 50,000 Delta miles offer with the chance to earn a $100 statement credit.

That’s a great deal for both of these cards.

And although the annual fee is waived for the first year on the AMEX Gold Delta card, it is NOT waived for the Platinum version.  But paying the annual fee could still be worth it, because the bonus for the Platinum version is double the usual sign-up bonus.

We don’t earn a commission for the personal AMEX Delta cards, but we’ll always share the best offers!

  1. Terrific Info.. Thanks!

Can you receive the bonus if you have had the card with a bonus in the past?

  2. @misty – It is once per lifetime, so you can’t get the bonus if you had the card in the past.

  3. I had the Delta gold before. If I get the Platinum can I get the 70000 as it is a different product? Thank you.

  4. If AMEX is on top of things you won’t get a bonus on either card if you have had the card before. If you’ve had the personal and go for the business card you’ll get the bonus. I also believe the Platinum card is considered a different product so you should get the bonus there too. Personally I’d don’t think this is that great a deal in the broad sense as Delta awards are almost always higher than United or American so your miles don’t go as far with Delta. I prefer cards tied to United and American for more value….but….if live near a Delta hub I guess they could be very useful.

  5. Pr worth it if you’re on delta nonstop. Otherwise redemption rates are high, availability is low, and no transfer partners. Chase has to be blowing everyone out of the water-which the CSR would be my first recommendation hands down!

  6. If you currently have the Gold Delta card and received a bonus for that can you get the bonus for the Platinum Delta card if you have never had it.

  7. Minimum spend required is $3000 not $5000…

  8. what triggers the delta $50 or $100 credit? Buying giftcard an option?

    • @Chad @Henry C – I’ve heard of folks getting the bonus on both the Gold and the Platinum version.

@rahul – No personal experience, but I suspect it should work.

      @Pritish – Thanks! We’ve fixed it.

  9. Thank you for this offer. Can the Delta purchase in order to get the $100 Platinum credit for be as small as a drink on a Delta flight?

  10. If anyone needs a link for 70K Delta Platinum Personal card (no longer publicly available), I can send you a link if you provide your email address

  11. Does anyone need a referral or link for Platinum Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card credit card? Send me a note with your email and I’ll send you the referral. The offer below is only available by referral at the moment, and is double what American Express is offering without a referral.

10,000 Medallion® Qualification Miles (MQMs) and 70,000 bonus miles after they use their new Card to make $3,000 in purchases within the first 3 months†. In addition, they can earn a $100 statement credit after they make a Delta purchase with their new Card within the first 3 months.†
