Via Doctor of Credit, the sign-up bonuses on the Capital One® Spark® Cash for Business and Capital One Spark Miles for Business cards have been increased.

You’ll earn $500 back after you spend $4,500 on purchases with the Capital One Spark Cash for Business in the first 3 months of opening your account.

And 50,000 Capital One Spark Miles (worth $500 in travel) with the Capital One Spark Miles for Business card after meeting the same minimum spending requirement.

But the sign-up bonuses have been increased to $500 for the Spark Cash card.  And 50,000 Capital One Spark miles (worth $500 in travel) with the Spark Miles card.  Those are good sign-up bonuses!

The annual fee of $59 on both cards is waived for the first year.  Neither card adds foreign transaction fees.

These Are Good Cards for Travel Abroad Because They Don’t Add Foreign Transaction Fees

With the Capital One Spark Cash for Business, you’ll earn unlimited 2% cash back on all purchases.

And the Capital One Spark Miles for Business gets you 2 Capital One Spark miles per $1 you spend everywhere.  Capital One Spark miles are worth 1 cent each when redeemed for air travel.  So it’s like getting 2% back.

There aren’t blackout dates, and you’ll earn miles on your ticket.  So this is a good deal for folks who book paid airfare, especially last minute or at busy times.

I do NOT normally recommend Capital One cards, because they pull all 3 main credit bureaus when they process your application (instead of 1 like most banks).

So the effect on your credit report is like applying for THREE credit cards instead of ONE.

Many Folks Avoid Applying for Capital One Cards Because They Pull All THREE Credit Bureaus

But these are good sign-up bonuses!  So some folks might consider them, especially if they already have lots of cards from other banks.

Or if they haven’t applied for a lot of cards lately, so they don’t mind the 3 inquiries on their credit report.

That said, there are other cards that earn a similar cash back rate, including the Fidelity Investment Rewards American Express or Citi DoubleCash.

And business cards like the American Express SimplyCash, Chase Ink Cash, or Chase Ink Plus might be a better choice for folks who don’t want 3 inquiries on their credit report!

Remember, these are business cards.  Many folks don’t realize they’re eligible to apply because they don’t think they have a business, or their business is too new.  Read my post about how you might qualify for business cards!

Bottom Line

The sign-up bonuses on the Capital One Spark Cash for Business and Capital One Spark Miles for Business cards have been increased to $500 (or 50,000 miles, worth $500 in travel) after completing minimum spending requirements.

These are great sign-up bonuses!  But they’re not for everyone.

That’s because Capital One pulls your credit report from all THREE credit bureaus when you apply!  Normally, banks only look at ONE.

But if you already have a lot of cards from other banks, or don’t mind 3 credit pulls for 1 card, this could be a good deal for you.

I’d love to hear your experiences with Capital One cards!

  1. Hi there,
I’m an avid reader of your blog and love all the great credit card deals and traveling tips you’ve provided!! thank you so much!

I’m planning on moving to Taiwan permanently and was wondering if you know much about foreign transaction rates. The cap1 sparks card doesn’t charge foreign transaction fees, but is the exchange rate competitive to the point that earning a 2% cash back on international purchases would offset the spread? I”m considering using this card for everyday spend in taiwan (and obviously pay it off with saving account in the US).

  2. I am on my 3rd card.
Bonus comes almost instantly when you hit the 4500 spend limit.

  3. great…. applied for the card one day before the offer moved from $300 to $500; bad timing

  4. Mr. CheesePuff got a targeted offer for this same card in Dec./Jan, I believe. It has no annual fee (not “fee waived”) and appears to be the same business Spark card. FYI it took Cap One FOREVER to get the card to us; I think it was over 2 weeks.

@Daraius, do you know know how relaxed Cap One is about business cards? Do they give you the third degree, or do they just look at your personal income and credit score?

  5. After comparing more carefully, there are some interesting differences. Ours was no-fee, but with 1.5 points/dollar, and 0% interest for 6 months.

  6. “Existing or previous Spark cardholders may not be eligible for this one-time bonus.”

Any idea what the “May not be eligible” entails? I just got approved and bonused on this card within the last three months. Next week I should be ok to apply for a couple more cards. If there is any data on two approval/bonuses for this card it would be great to know.
    Thank you

  7. Sweet deal, $500 cash back. Thanks for the heads up!

(Can’t imagine why one would opt for the 50,000 “miles” offer which has more limited redemption options than with 50,000 cents.)

  8. I have an LLC. Will they pull my personal credit or just look for my business credit? For Sri, who noted he’s had three cards, did you cancel previous cards and reapply? Thanks!

  9. Are the Miles and Cash cards considered different enough to get both, with bonuses?

Could you apply for both in the same day, with just one pull, x 3, and get both cards?

Anyone on the “may not be eligible?”

  10. When you move “cash” to miles or “miles” to cash, and combine them, they are both treated as $.01, 2x on travel redemptions.

  11. For those wanting both types – I applied for the $500 cash version, was approved and got the bonus. A month later I applied for the $500 travel rewards version, was approved and got the bonus.

  12. Just a heads-up concerning the Capital One Spark Cash bonus. I recently was approved for this card at a branch, then met the minimum spend within a couple of weeks. But I did NOT get the bonus. When I inquired about this, they told me the bonus is only given to those who apply online. After almost two weeks of phone calls to Capital One, along with a couple of visits to the branch, they finally gave me the bonus. So I recommend applying for his card online.
