American Express has increased the sign-up bonus on the Hilton Honors Surpass card. For a limited time, you’ll get 80,000 points after you spend $3,000 in the 1st 3 months.
But you have to apply by February 28, 2015. This isn’t my link, but I’ll always tell you about the best available offers!

What’s the Deal?
Link: Hilton Honors Surpass Card from American Express
Until February 28, 2015, you’ll get 80,000 points when you sign-up for the American Express Hilton Honors Surpass card and spend $3,000 in the 1st 3 months.
You’ll also get:
- Free Hilton Gold Elite status (free breakfast and internet)
- Free Hilton Diamond status when you spend more than $40,000 in a calendar year (better upgrades)
- 12 points for every $1 you spend at Hilton hotels
- 6 points per $1 you spend at US restaurants, supermarkets & gas stations
- 3 points per $1 you spend on everything else
The annual fee of $75 is NOT waived for the 1st year.
The sign-up bonus sounds like a lot of points, but remember Hilton points aren’t worth as much as other hotel chains and airlines. And you’ll pay a $75 annual fee which is NOT waived for the 1st year.
But this card does get you free internet and breakfast by including gold status. So that could save you money, especially in expensive areas like Europe or the South Pacific.
Is It Worth It?
If you need more Hilton points, or have a lot of paid Hilton stays, it could be worth getting this card.
Bear in mind the sign-up bonus might only be worth 1 night in a top-tier hotel.
But folks who enjoy stretching their points could get several nights at a lower-tier hotel from the sign-up bonus.
You’ll still get free Hilton Gold status, but the sign-up bonus is 2 free weekend nights at (almost) any Hilton after you spend $2,500 in purchases in the 1st 4 months.
Plus you get 1 free weekend night when you spend over $10,000 on the card in a calendar year.
But you won’t earn as many points on Hilton or regular spending with this card. And the annual fee (not waived for the 1st year) is slightly higher at $95.
Note: You can only get ONE sign-up bonus per personal AMEX card per lifetime. So if received the bonus before, you won’t get it again.
But folks who already have a lot of AMEX cards might consider the Hilton Honors Surpass if they haven’t had it yet.
American Express has increased the bonus on the Hilton Honors Surpass card to 80,000 points when you spend $3,000 in 3 months. This is the highest offer I’ve seen for this card!
You’ll get the bonus when you apply by February 28, 2015, and complete the minimum spending.
This is a good card for folks who want extra Hilton points or have a lot of paid Hilton stays. Otherwise, I still prefer the Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve card.
