Don’t forget!  If you haven’t activated your Chase Freedom’s 2nd quarter 5X points (5% cash back) category bonus already, June 14, 2016, is your last chance!

Last Chance To Activate 5X Bonus At Grocery Stores Warehouse Clubs
Costco Will Accept Visa Cards In-Store Starting June 20, 2016. So You’ll Be Able to Take Advantage of This Quarter’s Bonus at Warehouse Clubs With the Freedom Card!

Here’s how to make the most of this quarter’s bonus at grocery stores and warehouse clubs.  And how to get Big Travel from the Chase Freedom card!

Here’s the Deal

Link:   Activate the Chase Freedom Bonus Categories

Making everyday purchases in Chase Freedom’s rotating 5X points (5% cash back) bonus categories is a great way to earn more Chase Ultimate Rewards points.

But you must activate the bonus!  And June 14, 2016, is your last chance to register for this quarter’s bonus at grocery stores and warehouse clubs.  That runs through June 30, 2016.

And because Costco will accept Visa cards in-store starting June 20, 2016, you’ll be able to get 5X points for your Costco purchases too!

Note:  Grocery purchases at stores like Walmart and Target do NOT qualify for 5X bonus points.

How Does the 5X Ultimate Rewards Points Bonus Work?

You’ll earn 5 Chase Ultimate Rewards points (5% cash back) per $1 on up to $1,500 in spending in bonus categories each quarter.

That works out to a maximum of 7,500 Chase Ultimate Rewards points or $75 cash back every 3 months.  For a maximum of 30,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points ($300 cash back) each year (5X points x $1,500 x 4 quarters).

Why the Freedom Card Is One of My Favorites

I’ve kept the Chase Freedom in my wallet for a long time, because it has no annual fee and is a great way to earn lots of Chase Ultimate Rewards points.

And don’t forget, if you also have the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Ink Plus, or Chase Ink Bold (no longer available) card, you can move Chase Ultimate Rewards points earned from the Chase Freedom to one of those accounts.

And then get Big Travel by transferring your Ultimate Rewards points to terrific travel partners like United AirlinesHyatt, Southwest, and Marriott!

Considering the Freedom Card?

Right now, the sign-up bonus on the Chase Freedom is 15,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points ($150 cash back) when you spend $500 on purchases in the first 3 months of opening your account.  You can read my review of this offer here.

You’ll also get another 2,500 Chase Ultimate Rewards points ($25 cash back) when you add an authorized user who makes a purchase in the same timeframe.

Just remember, Chase has changed their card application rules.  So if you’ve opened ~5 or more credit cards in the past 24 months, it’s unlikely you’ll be approved for any Chase Ultimate Rewards points-earning card, like the Chase Freedom.

Also, read my posts on how to get $225 worth of flights with the Chase Freedom’s sign-up bonuses.  And how to use it for Big Travel on Southwest, United Airlines, American Airlines, and at Hyatt hotels.

And don’t forget, on June 15, 2016, you’ll be able to activate the Chase Freedom’s 3rd quarter bonus categories, which includes restaurants.  Don’t worry, you won’t invalidate this quarter’s bonus by activating another!

@Jana I’m wondering the same thing

Will it work for Costco at the gas pump?

I’ve been using the card at Aldi and receiving the 5% bonus.
