Fairmont is a smaller, upscale hotel chain, although it’s now owned by Accor Hotels. Many of their locations are incredible, like the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise in Canada. While 1,000 Aeroplan miles isn’t worth much on its own, this is an easy way to boost your Aeroplan balance if you’re saving for an award. Or keep your miles from expiring by having new activity in your account.
Aeroplan miles expire if you don’t earn or redeem miles for 12 months.
Air Canada is a member of Star Alliance, which means you can use Aeroplan miles to book flights on any Star Alliance partner, including United Airlines and Lufthansa. Keep in mind, you’ll usually pay fuel surcharges depending on the airline and route.
If you want more Aeroplan miles, you can transfer American Express Membership Rewards points or Starwood points to Air Canada at a 1:1 ratio.
And if you like Fairmont Hotels, you can sign-up for the Chase Fairmont card and earn 2 complimentary nights after spending $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of opening your account. Here’s my review of the Chase Fairmont card.
If you sign-up, let me know how long it takes to get your 1,000 free Aeroplan miles!
