The Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts (FHR) is a benefit available with cards like The Platinum Card® from American Express and The Business Platinum® Card from American Express. When you book through FHR you’ll get perks similar to elite status benefits, like:
- 12pm check-in, when available
- Guaranteed 4pm late checkout
- Room upgrades when available
- Free daily breakfast for two
- Free in-room Wi-Fi when available
- A benefit unique to your hotel, like a $100 dining credit, free meal or spa service
- Third or fourth night free at certain hotels
These benefits apply to 1,000+ hotels worldwide, and right now there is a targeted Amex Offer where you can earn a 16,000 Amex Membership Rewards points bonus when you make a single purchase of $800+ on a prepaid hotel booked through the Amex travel site by September 30, 2019. This is in addition to the 5X Amex Membership Rewards points you’ll earn for booking a prepaid hotel through the Amex travel site with your Amex Platinum or Business Platinum card.

Some of the FHR properties are also part of major hotels chains including Waldorf Astoria (Hilton), Ritz Carlton (Marriott) and Park Hyatt hotels. When you book through the FHR website you’ll still earn hotel points and be able to take advantage of your elite status perks. But that isn’t the case if you book through the Amex travel site, which is what the offer specifically says you need to do in order to qualify.
