Along with my full time job, I own and manage a vacation rental.  This side hustle allows me to qualify for small business credit cards.

I can’t reiterate enough how earning bonus rewards for my business expenses has helped my miles & points balances grow.  I have saved thousands on travel with the rewards I’ve earned with a number of different American Express business credit cards.  And there’s one in particular that I will never give up:  The Blue Business®️ Plus Credit Card from American Express.

In my opinion, the AMEX Blue Business Plus is a no-brainer for any small business owner.  I’ll explain why.

For starters, the AMEX Blue Business Plus is a no-annual-fee card (See Rates & Fees).  Plus, it earns 2X AMEX Membership Rewards points per $1 on up to $50,000 in purchases per calendar year (then 1X AMEX Membership Rewards point on all purchases).

Being able to earn bonus points and transfer those points directly to airline and hotel partners all without paying an annual fee (See Rates & Fees) is virtually unheard of in the world of travel rewards credit cards.  This is why the AMEX Blue Business Plus is such a great card for small business owners who qualify.

And earning 2X points per $1 on $50,000 in purchases per year (1X points thereafter) is an excellent deal, because similar small business cards have a lower earning rate for ongoing purchases.

Even better?  AMEX small business cards do NOT appear on your personal credit report.  So opening a new one won’t hurt your chances of being approved for Chase cards due to Chase’s 5/24 rule.

I also have The Business Platinum® Card from American Express with which I get a 35% points rebate on tickets purchased through the AMEX travel portal on my selected airline (United Airlines).  So I “stack” deals and earn 2X points with my AMEX Blue Business Plus and use the points rebate from my AMEX Business Platinum to save even more!  It’s a good feeling to know I’m maximizing things on both the earnings and redemption side of things.

Do you have a particular card you use for your small business?  And if so, why?  I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
