Keep in mind most resort style hotels charge extra fees, even when you use points.  Unfortunately, hotel resort fees are hard to avoid.  I’ve shared my tips on what you can do about them.

I’ll let you know the fees you can expect to pay at these hotels.

1.   The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort

For a special occasion, you can use Starwood points for a luxurious stay at

The resort hotel has a private beach and amazing panoramic views where you can watch the sunset.

A free night at the hotel costs 30,000 to 35,000 Starwood points per night.  You’ll also pay ~$25 nightly resort fee.  You’ll get big savings using points because nightly rates can easily cost $700+ if you pay cash.

And the experience can be well worth it.  Because the service, location, and attention to detail at The St. Regis Punta Mita can’t be found at many other hotels.

2.   The Westin Dawn Beach Resort & Spa, St. Maarten

If you’re looking for beautiful Caribbean views, you can stay at The Westin Dawn Beach Resort & Spa, St. Maarten.  Every room at the hotel has a balcony overlooking the ocean or island.

Emily had a fantastic time in Mexico at nearby Playa del Carmen.
