Million Mile Secrets reader, Sanjay e-mailed about Ritz-Carlton credit card benefits:
Can the Chase Ritz-Carlton $300 annual travel credit be used towards baggage fees on foreign airlines when neither the origin or destination is in the US?
Great question, Sanjay!
The answer is yes! The $300 annual travel credit is one of the Chase Ritz-Carlton card’s many terrific benefits. Because getting a statement credit for baggage fees helps offset the card’s annual fee.

I’ll explain how the $300 travel credit works.
How Does the Ritz-Carlton $300 Airline Credit Work?

With the Chase Ritz-Carlton card, you can earn a $300 annual travel credit each calendar year for qualifying airline purchases, which includes:
- Airline lounge passes
- Baggage fees
- In-flight entertainment & Wi-Fi
- In-flight meals
- Seat upgrades
There are no restrictions on which airline you use to make these purchases. But unlike other credit cards, you won’t get an automatic statement credit for travel purchases.
Instead, you’ll have to call Chase directly to request the credit for your qualifying airline purchases.
So if Sanjay pays baggage fees on an international airline with his Ritz-Carlton card, he’ll have to contact Chase to request the credit.
Remember, to qualify for the credit, you must contact Chase within 4 billing cycles of the charge appearing on your statement.
Earn the Travel Credit 2 Times With 1 Annual Fee
The annual travel credit resets each calendar year. So if you applied for Chase Ritz-Carlton today, you could get $300 in credit by the end of 2016. Then get another $300 in the beginning of 2017.
This is an easy way to offset the $450 annual fee.
In addition, you also get these perks with the card to make up for the annual fee.
- $100 discount on multi-passenger, domestic round-trip itineraries purchased through the Visa Infinite Discount Air Benefit – with no limit on the number of times you can use the discount
- $100 hotel credit for dining, spa, or other recreational activities with each paid stay of 2 nights or longer at participating Ritz-Carlton hotels
- $100 statement credit for Global Entry
Earn 3 Complimentary Nights
It’s a great time to consider the Chase Ritz-Carlton card, because you can currently earn 3 complimentary nights at Tier 1 to 4 Ritz-Carlton hotels after meeting minimum spending requirements!
Then, use the complimentary nights at fantastic hotels in Asia, Europe, or the US.

Bottom Line – Ritz-Carlton Credit Card Benefits
There are no airline restrictions for the Chase Ritz-Carlton $300 annual travel credit. After you pay for qualifying travel purchases like baggage fees or in-flight entertainment, just call Chase to request the credit.
Remember, you can get $600 in travel credit with just 1 annual fee. Because you can get $300 by the end of 2016 and $300 again in early 2017.
It’s also a great time to consider the Chase Ritz-Carlton card, because you can earn 3 complimentary nights as a sign-up bonus after meeting minimum spending requirements to use at luxurious Ritz-Carlton hotels.
