Choice Hotels is offering an elite status match!

If you have elite status with a competing hotel chain, you can email your details to Choice and they’ll match you to an equivalent status.  You’ll get point bonuses, extended award booking windows, and welcome gifts for stays!

This is a no-brainer if you have the IHG Rewards Club Select credit card or Chase Hyatt cards, because you’ll automatically have Platinum elite status you can use to match to Choice Hotels status.  Just like using IHG Platinum elite status to match to Hilton Diamond status!

I’ll explain how to get your status matched!

To submit a status match, just email with the following information:

  • Full name
  • Choice Privileges member number (free to join!)
  • Proof of elite status in other hotel program (screenshot of your hotel loyalty card or account status page)

You should receive a response within 24 to 48 hours letting you know about your new Choice status.  Your Choice elite status will be valid through December 31, 2017.

Choice Hotels include Ascend CollectionCambria SuitesClarion, Comfort InnComfort SuitesEconoLodgeMainStay SuitesQuality InnRodeway InnSleep Inn, and Suburban brand hotels.

Elite membership benefits with Choice Hotels are not as good as other hotel brands.  But some benefits are better than none!  And they could be helpful if you’re planning an upcoming summer road trip!

The best perk for Choice elite members is the extended award booking window.  Regular members can only book award nights up to 30 days in advance.  But you can book further ahead if you have status!

With Choice Gold status, which normally requires 10 nights (including award nights) per calendar year, you get:

  • 10% elite point bonus
  • 250 bonus points or a snack and beverage at check-in for stays at US Comfort Suites hotels
  • 50-day booking window for reward nights
  • Exclusive reservations and customer services phone numbers (US and Canada members only)

With Choice Platinum status you get:

  • 25% elite point bonus
  • 250 bonus points or a snack and beverage at check-in for stays at US Comfort Suites hotels
  • 75-day booking window for reward nights
  • Elite luggage tags (US members only)
  • Exclusive reservations and customer services phone numbers (US and Canada members only)

To earn Platinum status, you’d normally have to stay 20 nights in a calendar year (including award nights).

Choice also has Diamond status, which offers added benefits, but the highest available status you can match to is Choice Platinum.

Because you automatically get Platinum elite status with the Chase IHG or Chase Hyatt cards, you can submit a screenshot of your loyalty account with IHG or Hyatt to Choice and hopefully earn Platinum status.

Or you can try submitting your automatic Gold status earned from the Hilton Honors™ Surpass® Card from American Express or Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve Card to see if they’ll match you to Choice Gold status.

Bottom Line

Choice is offering to match your elite hotel status up to Choice Platinum.  To reach this level you’d normally have to stay 20 nights (including award nights).

Email with your member number and proof of competing hotel chain status and they’ll get back to you in 24 to 48 hours with your new status level.

This is an easy deal for folks with automatic Platinum status from the Chase IHG or Chase Hyatt, or Gold status from the Hilton Honors Surpass or Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve.  Even if you don’t have Choice stays planned, it’s worth matching in case you book a last-minute trip!

I’m not a fan of Choice specifically Clarion, parents just had a bad experience at a location in IN. Side door was unlocked, someone loudly knocked on door early morning claiming to be security than took off after front desk was called. Manager never showed up to follow up. I hear some of the Comfort Suites are nice so may consider one in the future.

Platinum is the max Choice will match to. It does give you an extra month to book. Few if any Choice hotels have suites or executive levels for room upgrades so the top level status doesn’t matter. Choice is great in Europe !

Just emailed! Thanks for the tip!
