Save Big Money or Earn Bonus Points With AMEX Offers

AMEX Offers are a valuable perk exclusive to American Express cards.  You can register nearly all American Express cards except corporate cards and gift cards.  Cards that qualify include:

AMEX Offers can save you lots of money on purchases you might make anyway.  We’ve seen recent deals for $10 off a $50 purchase at restaurants, 5,000 bonus AMEX Membership Rewards points for purchasing Amazon Prime, and $70 off a $350 stay at Waldorf Astoria & Conrad Hotels.

Team member Jasmin likes to stock up on household products, kids’ snacks for school, etc. whenever the AMEX Offer pops up.  And if you know what you’re doing, you can actually turn these discounts into a profit!  Team member Meghan made ~$1,000 by taking advantage of a recent AMEX Offer!

Plus, the bonus points or statement credits you receive from AMEX Offers are applied after your purchase.  So you can take advantage of any other money-saving tactics without worrying that they won’t combine with AMEX Offers.  You can use shopping portals, promotional codes, coupons, and more.  Just be sure you meet your offer’s minimum spending requirement!

Note:   Both statement credits and bonus AMEX Membership Rewards points will post within 90 days after you redeem your AMEX Offer.  But in my experience, it usually posts within a few days.

Before You Shop, Check Your Account to See If Adding an AMEX Offer Will Save You Money

To take advantage of AMEX Offers, you’ll have to register your American Express cards.  You can log into your American Express account to see which offers you were targeted for.

AMEX Offers are usually in limited supply, so if you see a deal you want, you should add it immediately.  And the offers change frequently, so check your account often!

How to Register Your American Express Card for AMEX Offers

Check out this video guide on how to register for AMEX Offers or follow the steps below!

Step 1.   Log Into Your American Express Account

Sign-in to your American Express account, and scroll to the bottom of the page.  You’ll see a section that says AMEX Offers & Benefits.  This is where you’ll see all the AMEX Offers available for your cards.

Because AMEX Offers are targeted deals for each individual AMEX account, you may see different offers depending on which AMEX card you’re viewing.

Step 1 – Scroll to the Bottom of Your Account to Find AMEX Offers

Step 2.   Click “View All”

There are LOTS of AMEX Offers available for each card.  Click “View All” to make sure you aren’t missing anything good!

Step 2 – Click “View All”

Step 3.   Click “Add to Card”

Search the list for an AMEX Offer you’re interested in.  To see more information, just click an offer, and it will expand with the full terms & conditions.

When you find one you want, click Add to Cardnext to the offer.

Step 3 – Click “Add to Card”

You’ll then see the offer under the “Added to Card” tab at the top of the AMEX Offers section.

See Which Offers are Available, Which You’ve Already Added, and How Much You’ve Saved

There’s also a “Savings” tab, where you can view the offers you’ve redeemed, and how much you’ve saved.

How to Get the Credit More Than Once

Update:   Unfortunately, you are no longer able to add the same AMEX offer to multiple cards. 🙁  Some folks have reported being able to add certain offers to multiple cards, but it’s a case by case basis.  And in the past AMEX has taken back the statement earned from multiple cards in the same account.  So even if you can add it multiple times, you still might not get the extra savings.

If you have multiple AMEX cards, you can try to get the statement credit for each card!

While some offers will not be available on all your cards, some of them will be.  But when you add an AMEX Offer to one of your AMEX credit cards, it will disappear from the list of available offers for ALL your cards.  Fortunately, there’s a way around this!

You can open each of your AMEX cards in a separate browser tab, and add the offer to multiple cards simultaneously.

Use Multiple Browser Tabs to Add the Same AMEX Offer to More than 1 Card

If you think you’ll spend enough at a certain merchant to benefit from more than 1 statement credit, this is a no-brainer.

What If You Forgot to Use the Multi-Tab Trick?

If you’ve added an offer to your AMEX card, and later wish you had used the multi-tab trick to add it to other cards, there’s a way to make the offer reappear in your other accounts!  But it’s a bit of a pain.

Step 1.   Click “Remove Card From Online Management” on Your Account Page

Select “Account Services” at the top of your account page, and click “Remove Card from Online Management“.

Step 1 – Click “Remove Card From Online Management”

Step 2.   Choose Which Card You Want to Remove

Select the card that you’ve already added the AMEX Offer you’d like to have on your other cards, and click “Remove Card“.

Step 2 – Remove the Card

The card will no longer appear in your online account (you may have to log-out before it disappears).  And all AMEX Offers you’ve added to the card will now reappear, available for your other American Express cards.

You can then re-add the card you’ve unlinked from your account by returning to “Account Services” and clicking “Register a New Card“.

Add Your Card Back by Clicking “Register a New Card” and Entering Your Card Information

Note:   It was once possible to add AMEX Offers via social media.  Unfortunately, you can NOT do this anymore.

You can, however, add cards to the American Express bot through Facebook Messenger.  I’ll show you how it works on your mobile device!

Add Offers Through Facebook Messenger

Step 1.   Type “AmericanExpressUS” Into Facebook Messenger

You’ll find the AMEX bot by typing “AmericanExpressUS” in the search bar at the top of the app.  Once you find and select it, tap “Get Started” at the bottom of the page.

Select the American Express Bot

Step 2.   Log Into Your AMEX Account

You will then be prompted to sign-into your AMEX account via the app.  Click “Log-In” to link your cards with the AMEX bot.

Log-In to your AMEX Account

Step 3.   Agree to the AMEX Terms

Before your cards are officially linked to Facebook Messenger, you’ll have to check a box agreeing to the American Express terms.

Agree to the Terms

Step 4.   Type “AMEX Offers” Into Your Conversation With the AMEX Bot

Now that your cards are linked, the AMEX bot knows which AMEX Offers you qualify for!  Just type “AMEX Offers” into the conversation window, and the bot will give you the option to see which offers are available, which are nearby, which are already registered to your card, and even how much you’ve saved so far.

Type AMEX Offers to See All Offers Available for Your Accounts

I think it’s easier to add AMEX Offers through your AMEX account instead of through the Facebook Messenger bot.  But some folks might prefer this interface.

Bottom Line

You can save lots of money or earn bonus points on purchases you’d probably make anyway with AMEX Offers.  Just register your eligible American Express cards, and receive statement credits on everyday spending!

It’s possible to get the same statement credits or points for multiple cards by using the multi-tab trick.  So the more American Express cards you have, the more you can save!

AMEX Offers are just another reason I keep American Express cards year after year.  The savings these offers give me help to offset any annual fees I might be paying.  So I can enjoy the other benefits of the card for cheap!

Removing a card unfortunately doesn’t remove added offers anymore, if you accidentally added offers to the wrong card.

I added an offer to the wrong card and can’t seem to get it to regenerate using your methods. Any tips?

Hi Jay!

Unfortunately it’s no longer possible to add the same offer to multiple AMEX cards. And the offers you’ll receive are specific to that card, not your entire AMEX account. So if you see an offer available on one of your cards, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s available for all of your cards.

I have been able to take advantage of quite a few AMEX Offers, the most recent being the 1800flowers $15 off $50. I was planning to buy flowers anyway, so the timing was perfect. Plus, I shopped through the AA eshopping portal to earn 10 AA miles/dollar and to qualify for their 500 bonus miles V-Day promo.

And I got free shipping because another benefit to my SPG AMEX is free Shoprunner membership, of which 1800flowers is a participating merchant! Win, win and win!
