1 Card Bonus = Unlimited Opportunities. Here Are 5 Fun Trips to Consider!
American Airlines miles are a valuable way to see more of the world. And this sign-up bonus is enough to travel to amazing bucket-list places.
Here’s our guide on how to use American Airlines miles. Now let’s look at where you could go!
1. Amazing Asian Metropolises
American Airlines flies to:
- Hong Kong
- South Korea
You can use 70,000 American Airlines miles to visit any of them round-trip in coach! And if you can travel off-peak, you’ll only need 65,000 American Airlines miles (the exact dates vary by country. Click “Details on award travel” on that page to see the dates).
Seoul has been on my list for a long time. Or you could visit Hong Kong, one of the busiest and most vibrant places in the world. If you want to visit another city in China, like Beijing or Shanghai, you could do that too!
There’s also Japan – one of my favorite places on earth. Any of these would make an incredible trip for urban exploration, authentic food, and endless shopping. You could even book 2 one-way flights from different cities and take a cheap flight between them to get a 2-for-1 trip in Asia!
2. See the Ancient Wonders and Colorful Nature of Ecuador or Peru – and Bring a Partner!
I love traveling to South America! Every time, I’ve had the best food and always found locals to be kind and approachable.
You can fly found round-trip to Ecuador or Peru for 60,000 American Airlines miles in a fancy Business Class seat! Or stretch your miles and pay 40,000 American Airlines miles for a coach award ticket.
If you can fly off-peak January 16 through June 14, or September 7 through November 14, you’ll only pay 35,000 American Airlines miles round-trip in coach. So the sign-up bonus on the CitiBusiness American Airlines Platinum Select card is enough for 2 round-trip off-peak coach awards!
You could visit the ruins at Machu Picchu in Peru, like Joseph did. Or see the rainforests in Ecuador, with some of the most diverse animal species in the world.
The choice is yours – and both would make for spectacular Instagram photos! 😉
3. Anywhere in Europe for Fun, Sun, and so Much More
American Airlines flies to tons of major cities in Europe, like Barcelona, London, and Rome. You can use 60,000 American Airlines miles for a round-trip coach award flight to any of their European destinations.
And if you can travel off-peak, which is January 10 to March 14, and November 1 to December 14, you’ll pay 45,000 American Airlines miles instead.
Europe is always a good idea! Everyone on our team has traveled to Europe at some point. I love France and Spain, while Scott has spent time in Eastern Europe. And Jasmin recently took her daughter to Ireland.
There are so many places you could see. Just remember to check the cash prices before you book a trip, because sometimes you can get a killer deal. Save your miles for when flights are expensive!
4. Nearly 3 Off-Peak Trips to the Caribbean, Mexico, or Central America
When you travel off-peak in coach to the Caribbean, Mexico, or Central America, you’ll pay 25,000 American Airlines miles round-trip in coach. The dates are September 7 through November 14, and April 27 through May 20. After completing the minimum spending requirements, you’ll have 74,000 American Airlines miles at least (and more if you spend in bonus categories!).
That’s soooo close to 3 award tickets to the Bahamas, Cancun, Cozumel, or Costa Rica – and that’s just to start!
Regular prices are 30,000 American Airlines miles round-trip in coach. So you’ll still have enough for 2 award flights, with plenty of miles left over.
This region is huge! Mexico has everything from resort cities to gigantic urban centers like Mexico City to ancient Mayan temples.
Or you could visit the Caribbean to get an island experience. And of course Central America includes fun countries to explore, like Costa Rica, Guatemala, Nicaragua, and Panama.
Bring a friend or 2 and turn it into a fun trip of relaxing or hiking!
5. Nearly 2 Tickets to Hawaiian Paradise
Award flights to Hawaii cost 45,000 American Airlines miles round-trip in coach. When you fly off-peak, which varies whether you’re flying to or from Hawaii, that drops to 40,000 American Airlines miles.
With the 74,000 American Airlines miles you’ll earn by meeting the minimum spending, you’ll have most of what you’ll need for 2 off-peak award flights. Take your honey to Hawaii! 😉
So far, I’ve been to the Big Island, Oahu, and Maui. But I’m dying to visit Kauai, and Maui again. If you’ve never been, you must! Each island has its own vibe and natural features. And it’s fun to island-hop and feel them out.
The sign-up bonus on the CitiBusiness American Airlines Platinum Select card is your chance to discover or revisit your favorite Hawaiian island!
Unlock the world with the CitiBusiness American Airlines Platinum Select card! You’ll earn 70,000 American Airlines miles after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 4 months of opening your account.
You could visit incredible destinations in Asia, the Caribbean, Mexico, and South America. It’s not every day you can get 1 or 2 award flights with a single sign-up bonus (and nearly 3 to the Caribbean, Mexico, or Central America).
And this is currently the biggest of any American Airlines card. The offer is for a limited time, so get it while you can!
