Via Travel Update, you can use your status with another airline to get elite status with Virgin Atlantic.
This means you can enjoy perks with Virgin Atlantic like earning bonus miles, free checked bags, seat upgrades, and more!
It isn’t hard to match your status. Plus, you’ll have status for 12 months after your status is matched.
I’ll explain how to match your status!
Match Your Airline Status With Virgin Atlantic
For a limited time, Virgin Atlantic is offering a status match to Virgin Atlantic Silver or Gold status, if you can prove you have elite status with certain airlines, including:
- British Airways
- American Airlines
- United Airlines
- Jet Airways

Whether you’ll get Silver or Gold status with Virgin Atlantic depends on which elite status level you have with one of the qualifying airlines.
For example, you need Executive Platinum status with American Airlines to get matched to Gold elite status with Virgin Atlantic.
To get the status match, you’ll need to send the following information to [email protected]:
- Proof of your elite status with a qualifying airline (like an account statement)
- Your Virgin Atlantic frequent flyer number
- Proof of a future reservation with Virgin Atlantic
Is It Worth It?
If you qualify, getting a status match is a no-brainer. Because it only takes a couple of minutes, and you never know when a travel opportunity might come up!
That said, Virgin Atlantic Silver Elite status isn’t that great. You’ll get benefits like priority check-in and the ability to select your seat in advance.
Gold status is much more valuable, because you’ll get perks like free checked bags, priority boarding, free seat selection, access to the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouses, and more!
Plus, Virgin Atlantic Gold members get additional benefits when flying with Delta, like bonus miles, free checked bags, priority check-in and boarding, and access to available Delta Comfort+ seats 24 hours before departure.
So if you fly Delta a lot and qualify for a status match, it’s definitely worth it!
