Good news!  Via Doctor of Credit, you can get 10% off car rentals and hotel stays booked through the Chase Ultimate Rewards Travel Portal through March 31, 2017.  On up to $2,500 in combined hotel and car rental purchases.

So if you spend the full $2,500, you’ll get $250 cash back.  That’s a pretty good deal!

Get Bonus Cash (or Points!) Back When You Use Your Chase Ink Cash Card to Book a Rental Car Through the Chase Travel Portal

Here are the details of the promotion.

Link:   Chase Ink Cash

Through March 31, 2017, you can get 10% cash back (10X Chase Ultimate Rewards points) on hotel stays and car rentals when you use your Chase Ink Cash card to book through Chase’s Travel Portal.

You’ll earn 10X on up to $2,500 in combined spending.  So the maximum you can earn through this promotion is $250 or 25,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points ($2,500 in spending X 10% or 10 points per $1).

Normally, you’d only earn 1% cash back (1 Chase Ultimate Rewards point per $1) on hotels and car rentals with the Chase Ink Cash.  So you’ll earn a LOT more with this deal!

Plus, I let you know earlier this week that Chase is offering the same deal for folks with the Chase Freedom and Freedom Unlimited cards.  That said, it might be better to use your Ink Cash card for car rentals, because it comes with primary car rental insurance when renting for business purposes.

Million Mile Secrets Team Member Scott Can’t Get Enough of the All-Inclusive Hyatt Zilara Cancun. If You Make the Most of This Offer, You’ll Earn Enough Points for a Free Night at This Beautiful Hotel!

And don’t forget, if you also have a card like the Chase Sapphire PreferredSapphire Reserve, and other Ultimate Rewards earning cards, you can potentially get even more value from your points by transferring points to hotel and airline partners:

If you spend the maximum ($2,500) and earn 25,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points, you’d have enough to transfer to United Airlines for a round-trip domestic coach ticket.

Or a night at a the all-inclusive Hyatt Zilara Cancun where Million Mile Secrets team member Scott has stayed on numerous occasions.  He loves the hotel’s wide variety of restaurants and top-shelf beverages that are included.  😉

Is It Worth It?

This deal might seem like a no-brainer, but there are a few disadvantages.

For example, you will NOT earn hotel points or elite stay credits when you book through Chase’s Travel Portal.  And there’s no guarantee you’ll have your elite status recognized during your stay, so you might miss out on valuable perks like free breakfast or late check-out.

Be Careful, When You Book Through Chase’s Travel Portal, Your Elite Status Might Not Be Recognized. Meaning You Could Miss Out on the Hotel’s Tasty Breakfast!

And not every single hotel or car rental agency appears on the Chase Ultimate Rewards Travel Portal.  So if the hotel you want isn’t listed, you’re out of luck.

And as always, I suggest shopping around and comparing the prices you see on the Chase Ultimate Rewards Travel Portal to other sites.  Just to make sure you’re getting the best deal!

Bottom Line

Chase Ink Cash cardholders can get 10% cash back (10X Chase Ultimate Rewards points) on hotels and car rentals booked through the Chase Ultimate Rewards Travel Portal.  On up to $2,500 in combined spending through March 31, 2017.

That’s a good deal.  But don’t forget, you won’t earn hotel points or stay credits when you book hotels through the portal, and you might not have your elite status recognized.

  1. Emily, you are my absolute favorite travel hacker to read. You seem like such a fun person. All these recent photos you’ve uploaded your red hair looks so good and your outfits are so cute! Never stop being awesome!

Also, I would really love if y’all did a post on how to maximize value on Amazon purchases if you have any tips? I buy a TON from Amazon and my current way of doing it is using United’s app to purchase and Amazon giftcard on my SPG FOR 0.5 United Miles and 1 SPG point per dollar.

  2. You glossed over the fact that the Ink Plus gives primary rental insurance *ONLY* if you’re renting the car for business. If it’s a personal rental, then you’re stuck with secondary. This point alone would give me serious pause about not using the CSP or CSR to book the rental. Is foregoing insurance worth the extra 7% earning? YMMV, but probably not for me.

  3. I used my Ink Cash through the Chase Portal on Mar 22 and I still haven’t gotten my 10x points. How long did it take for you to get your 10x points, if you got it?
