Million Mile Secrets reader, Angela, commented:

I got the Wyndham Rewards card recently and the bonus should be posting any day now.  I’ve already noticed that beginning in January, almost all higher end hotels will not be available for “Go Free” award nights.

That is a bummer because I wanted to book now for February.  On FlyerTalk, they do say that the all-inclusive hotels won’t be participating (as some were to begin with).

I’ve also noticed that a lot of their hotels are not participating in the “Go Fast” program.  If all you can use your free nights for are low end hotels, who will want the card?

A few months ago, Wyndham made changes to its rewards program.  They announced all hotels could be booked for 15,000 Wyndham points.

But there’s been some confusion surrounding this new program.

Are the Wyndham Rewards Wyzard and His New Rewards Program Not as Magical as They 1st Appeared?

With Wyndham Rewards, you can now book hotels for 15,000 Wyndham points per night (Go Free) or 3,000 Wyndham points plus cash (Go Fast).

Wyndham Advertises That This New Points Structure Is Good for ANY Wyndham Rewards Hotel

Wyndham hotels include:

This is an excellent deal if you if you can book more expensive Wyndham hotels with just 15,000 Wyndham points.  And you can quickly earn the points you need for 2 to 3 award nights with the Barclaycard Wyndham Rewards cards.

But it will now be more expensive to book their budget hotels.

But Are ALL Wyndham Hotels Really Included?

Angela is having difficulty booking award stays at Wyndham’s top-tier hotels.

If their high-end and all-inclusive hotels aren’t included, this isn’t such a great value.  So what’s the deal?

All-Inclusive Hotels

Folks on FlyerTalk mentioned they couldn’t find available award nights for Wyndham’s all-inclusive hotels.

A Wyndham representative responded saying these hotels are excluded:

All inclusive resorts do not participate in the Wyndham Rewards Program.  If you require assistance in locating a property or would like to book at one of our Tryp hotels, please contact Member Services at 1-866-996-7937 and an agent would be happy to assist you.

But then they said they were included:

Sorry for the confusion, all-inclusive hotels do qualify for the Go Free rate of 15,000 points per night.

Can you please private message me the dates that you were looking at the below hotels so we can further research why there isn’t availability for the Go Fast rate of 3,000 points per night plus cash?

Confusing, right?!

So I did a quick search for award nights at the Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach in the Bahamas and they were available!

I Found Award Nights at the All-Inclusive Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach for Only 15,000 Wyndham Points per Night!

But I’m not given the option to book the Go Fast rate of 3,000 Wyndham points plus cash.

High-End Hotels

Similarly, folks mentioned on FlyerTalk that they aren’t able to book some of Wyndham’s most desired locations including Koloa Landing Poipu Beach in Kauai.

But doing a dummy search I found award nights available at this hotel.

Koloa Landing Poipu Beach Has Award Nights Available for 15,000 Wyndham Points per Night!

And again, no Go Fast rate.

Barclaycard Wyndham Rewards Card

Link:   My Full Review of the Barclaycard Wyndham Rewards Cards

With the Barclaycard Wyndham Rewards card you can earn 45,000 Wyndham points:

  • 30,000 Wyndham points after your 1st purchase
  • 15,000 points after you spend $1,000 on purchases in the 1st 90 days of opening your account (45,000 points total)

The $69 annual fee is NOT waived for the 1st year.  But the 45,000 Wyndham points you earn are worth 3 nights at high-end Wyndham hotels like the Koloa Landing Poipu Beach.

1 Card Can Get You 3 Nights at Koloa Landing Poipu Beach in Kaui!

And with the no-annual fee version of the Barclaycard Wyndham Rewards card, you’ll get:

  • 15,000 Wyndham points after your 1st purchase
  • another 15,000 Wyndham points when you spend $1,000 on purchases within the 1st 90 days of opening your account

For a total of 30,000 Wyndham points.  With 30,000 Wyndham points you can get 2 nights at a top Wyndham hotels.

We don’t earn commission on these cards, but we’ll always tell you about the best offers!

Keep in mind, Barclaycard limits you to 1 or 2 of their cards per year, so choose your applications wisely!   If you already have 1 of their cards, using it will help ensure they approve you for other cards in the future.

Bottom Line

Wyndham recently changed its rewards program.  You can book award nights for 15,000 Wyndham points per night or 3,000 Wyndham points plus cash.  According to Wyndham’s advertisements, these rates are good at ANY Wyndham hotel.

This makes the Barclaycard Wyndham Rewards cards much more valuable because the points you earn, after completing the minimum spending, are worth 2 to 3 nights at even the most expensive Wyndham hotel.

Emily and I don’t earn commission on these cards, but we always tell you about the best deals.

But many folks aren’t able to book the high-end and all-inclusive hotels with points.  And it seems Wyndham isn’t sure which hotels are participating in their new rewards program.

That said, with a quick search I was able to find award nights at some top-tier hotels for 15,000 Wyndham points.  But there was no option to book using the Go Fast rate.  So Wyndham may still be working out the kinks in their new rewards program.

I’ll keep looking into this and let you know as soon as I get more details!  In the meantime, let me know about your experiences with the new Wyndham Rewards program.

  1. The Parc 55 is a Hilton hotel…FYI

  2. Long time fan here! You are my number one stop! About a week ago, I booked Kauai Koloa next summer and got the villa. There were no fall dates available and I think there was a message on their site saying they were doing construction during the time I got it.

  3. Looking to book Paris for next summer at 15K/night. Showing nothing available 🙁

  4. I was able to find award nights at the hotels I wanted in Puerto Rico and The Dominican Republic. Apparently they didn’t open up the calendar for 2016 (for award nights) until July and I was looking in June. A customer service rep told me that every Wyndham hotel is participating in the Go Free and if there is a standard room available, it can be booked with points (no blackout dates and not limited to a certain amount of rooms). She said if you see availability but it doesn’t show the Go Free option, to call Wyndham.

On the other hand, the Go Fast option seems optional and I’ve found many cities where there is no hotel participating – or at least it doesn’t show up on their website when I search. For instance in the Raleigh NC and Richmond VA areas I can not find any that list Go Fast. In the Denver area I found several. I tried weekend nights and week days, to see if that made a difference, and it did not. It would be helpful if you could search for only hotels that participated in the Go Fast, instead of sifting through 2 or 3 pages of hotels. It does seem like they have made some changes, now the Go Free option appears on the main page of search results, in June for the most part, you had to click through to each hotels rate page and several did not show the Go Free option.

  5. I found that the all-inclusive resorts in Mexico have a 3 night minimum stay. So when you search for 1 or 2 award nights, it doesn’t show any available, but when you search for 3 or more nights, it IS available. A representative conformed this on the phone.

  6. I contacted TRYP in Spain and they told me I can EARN Wyndham points but not redeem points for the hotel stay.

    Is that true?

  7. When did you do your search for the Koloa Landing? If I do that exact same search I don’t see any availability. I had been looking at nights for this hotel in 2016 and found a lot of availability for many dates until I think last Tuesday or Wednesday when it seemed that all award nights suddenly disappeared. Please let me know if you are experiencing something different as I’d really like to book some nights in 2016. Thanks.

  8. I too was searching Koloa Landing and at the beginning of the week (Monday – Wed) the June 2016 dates were all available for the 15K per night. When I returned to search on Friday, I could not find any 2016 dates for the 15k per night. It appears 2016 dates are no longer available? I am able to find some 2015 dates for the 15k per night

If anyone has an update on 2016 dates at this hotel please let me know.

    Thank You!

  9. Do the points have an expiration date (like one year)? Also, do you get any bonus at renewal? Thanks!

  10. @Tammy, I found the same thing for Dominicus Beach all inclusive in The Dominican Republic.

What others are saying about the Koloa Landing award nights is what happened to me when looking at Grand Rio Mar, it was showing availability then it all disappeared, then it showed up again and when they first allowed award booking past December, at first it showed Go Fast for Grand Rio Mar, then is disappeared. I haven’t looked at it the last few weeks.

  11. Last weekend or the weekend before, I booked Koloa in July 2016. First with points a few weeks ago and then some cash night last night.

  12. @Nick, I’m curious when you’ve found availability for 2015 dates. I’ve done some random searching and can’t seem to find any dates coming up with points availability.

  13. Koloa landing was the reason I got the card. Once the program changed they only showed points awards to 12/16/15. Then after all my points showed in my account, plus a 15000 bonus for some reason, I just looked again for grins and they were booking everywhere in 2016. I got 3 nights immediately in January and planned on getting 15000 more posted soon to use for another night. Now for the last week they show not available again for any days. And the rep wrote on flyertalk that Koloa was leaving the program in 2016 a week before booking my room with points for 2016. Confusing!
My res# does not show anything online so I called yesterday and they said the stay was good after looking for awhile. I don’t know, it is scary if just before getting there I find out they can’t honor it. Do I keep my reservations at the other resorts till the last minute just in case? Will they start taking more redemptions later so I can get my 4th night? I emailed Koloa asking these questions and never heard back from them.

  14. @Brian, I just searched October 26th – 29th and it appears the Go Free 15,000 option is available at 3:33 PM EST.

  15. I think their system is having a lot of problems because as I wrote above, when I searched just last week for hotels in Denver I found several participating in the Go Fast. Now, none are showing Go Fast, not for the nights I wanted or for any random night, not on the main page or clicking through to various hotels. Even the Go Free isn’t working correctly because I randomly looked at Baymont Denver West/Federal Center. It shows rooms available but when I checked Redeem Wyndham Rewards it shows the following.
There are currently no rooms available at this property for the dates and other criteria you selected.
    You may:
Change your dates and/or criteria and try again.
OR Start a new search to modify your destination or hotel requirements.
OR Choose another hotel from the other Wyndham Hotel Group brands listed below.

They need to include the Go Fast Rewards in Redeem Wyndham Rewards, so it makes it a little easier.

  16. Koloa is back to having Go Free up to 12/15. At least for the present.

  17. So what exactly is going on? I’d like to get the card to get the free nights for our first year wedding anniversary at the Wyndham Grand Orlando by Disney. When I went to look, the option to redeem for 15,000 was not available, neither was any other option. The rims were available when I looked in other sites. Can anyone confirm whether I would be able to call to book this hotel? The card is fantastic but not if I can’t use it.

  18. I just booked 4 nights at the Wyndham Grand South Beach with no problem using the 15k reward per night.

  19. I may have just figured out the problem with the Go Fast reward nights. You can’t just search through Wyndham.com, you have to be logged in, at Wyndhamrewards and search through there. Even though some hotels show Go Fast without being logged in to Wyndhamrewards, more show up when you are. I just read through the terms and conditions and it says you have to search for Go Fast through Wyndhamrewards. At least that is working now.

  20. So I went back, logged in, searched for availability, Wyndham Grand Bonnet Creek Orlando didn’t even show up as a choice. Then i went back and looked at 4 days in March ’16 instead of February ’16. Not there. I looked back at 4 days in February now and the hotel finally showed up but the 15,000 go free option was not there. I don’t get it. I don’t like all these loops you have to go through to book their best hotels. If they didn’t want you to book them for free then they shouldn’t have made them 15,000.

  21. There seem to be web site issues, depending on how you search – hotels I know exist didn’t show up at all, availability not showing, etc I recommend in case of issues to use a private/incognito mode and log into rewards, then search again, even if that is not very convenient…
I found some of the best deals with GoFast – where available: I saw $300 suites available at the GoFast rate of 3,000 points with minimal co-pay – great value for the points!

  22. This deal worked out perfectly for me. I needed a last minute hotel in downtown Boston. Avg $ for every hotel was $300-400/night. Used the points from this card and saved a total of $1,000 🙂
