Flying Overseas on American Airlines? Now You Can Change Your Flight the Same Day for $150

This is useful if you have a sudden change of plans and want to take an earlier or later flight.  Or if you find a direct flight instead of 1 that connects.

The flight you change to must:

  1. I wonder if you can book with amextravel and still get the credit. Charged as “Delta” do ex. And with the right Amex 5x points.

  2. Can you buy airline giftcards directly from the site to get Amex credit for offer?

  3. Great deal with WN because one can book a res (either refundable or not) and cancel, allowing WN to keep the credit for you for a year from date of purchase and apply the credit toward a needed trip or trip. (This tip offered to WN frequent travelers).

Having said that, what about Delta? I have a DL AMEX rarely used. If I buy a one way refundable and then cancel it, does Delta hold it and actually reissue for the needed trip date within a year or do they like to cancel, refund to card, and make one start over with a new reservation?

As a former airline employee, I perceive that res agents get much less res system programming (and training) that allows for “complicated” transactions. They keep it simple to save the programming costs and keep agents from deviating from policy which costs the airline a few more pennies. Or is that pesos? Just kiddin”. 🙂
