Update: The Hyatt 20% Rebate promotion has expired.
There’s great news for folks who thought they wouldn’t qualify for the Hyatt 20% points rebate promotion announced yesterday.
Via Frequent Miler, new Chase Hyatt cardholders are eligible for the promotion! As long as you get the card and register by March 31, 2015, you’ll get 20% of the points back that you use for award stays.
And if you’re considering applying for the Chase Hyatt card, Frequent Flyer University reports there’s a better offer available that comes with a $50 statement credit!
Emily and I don’t earn a commission on this card, but we’ll always tell you about the best offers!
Hyatt already confirmed that existing reservations don’t have to be cancelled and re-booked to qualify for the 20% points rebate. So today’s news makes the deal even sweeter!
What’s the Deal?
Chase Hyatt cardholders can get 20% of their redeemed points back on award stays when they register for the promotion before March 31, 2015. It’s valid for points redeemed until July 31, 2015, and includes award nights, Points + Cash bookings, and points used for dining and spa services.
With the rebate, you’ll get 6,000 points back (30,000 points x 20%). That’s enough for another night in a category 1 Hyatt!
The terms and conditions indicated that only current (as of January 31, 2015) Chase Hyatt cardholders would qualify, and some cardholders had trouble registering online. The fine print also suggested that bookings made prior to the start of the promotion would not get the rebate.
Now Hyatt has clarified the rules, and it’s a much better deal for everyone!
1. New Cardholders Can Register for the Promotion
If you recently applied for the Chase Hyatt card (or have yet to do so), you can still qualify for the promotion.
2. If You’re Signing-Up for the Card, Look for This Better Offer!
I tried it myself and found the offer on the final booking page (before you add your credit card number).
To see the offer, go to Hyatt’s website and make a test booking – you don’t actually have to complete the reservation. Let us know if you’re successful!
Note: Emily and I don’t earn a commission from any versions of Chase Hyatt card, but we’ll always tell you about the best deals!
You’ll still get 2 free nights at any Hyatt after you spend $1,000 in purchases in the 1st 3 months of opening your account. And the annual fee of $75 is waived for the 1st year. Here’s my review of the card.
3. Trouble Registering Online? Call or Tweet Hyatt!
Some Million Mile Secrets readers reported not being able to register for the promotion, despite being long-standing Chase Hyatt cardholders.
So this isn’t a targeted promotion after all!
4. All Award Stays Within the Promotion Period Count
As long as you register before March 31, 2015, ALL award stays within the promotional period (February 17, 2015, to July 31, 2015) are eligible for the rebate.
You do NOT have to cancel and re-book existing reservations. And if you have a stay within the promotion period before you register, Hyatt confirms it will still count.
This is great news for folks who have Hyatt award stays in the near future but haven’t been able to register for the promotion yet.
Hyatt has clarified the rules for its 20% points rebate promotion, and there’s good news all around.
- New cardholders can register for the promotion by March 31, 2015
- There’s a better offer available for the Chase Hyatt card if you make a test booking on the Hyatt website
- If you’ve had trouble registering online, call or tweet Hyatt and they’ll help
- You do NOT have to cancel and re-book existing reservations, and all award stays within the promotion period are eligible as long as you register by the deadline
