You Will Only Earn $30 in Credits When You Shop at a Qualifying Small Business

You will earn three $10 statement credits when you make three $10+ purchases!

Which Cards Will Get You a $30 Credit?

You can use any credit card issued by American Express.  Other cards you might not suspect qualify as well:

  • AMEX branded cards issued by other banks
  • Authorized user AMEX cards
  • AMEX Serve prepaid debit card
  • Bluebird from American Express

So this an excellent time to sign-up for American Express cards like the AMEX SimplyCash with $250 sign-up bonusThat’s because there is currently no annual fee on this card.  So the more AMEX cards the better!

Update:   The AMEX SimplyCash card is no longer available for new sign-ups.

For example, the AMEX SimplyCash card with an authorized user card can give you $60 in credits.  Plus you get $250 in cash back when you sign-up for AMEX SimplyCash and spend $5,000 on purchases within 6 months of card membership.  But you have to apply by September 21, 2015 January 25, 2016 April 27, 2016.

So that’s a total of $310 ($60 in statement credits + $250 sign-up bonus) to put towards your holiday shopping!

You will NOT earn the $30 credit with these cards:

  • Any card without an AMEX logo
  • AMEX corporate cards
  • AMEX gift cards

Bottom Line

American Express Small Business Saturday is November 29, 2014.  This year you can earn $30 in statement credits per AMEX card, which is a $20 increase from last year!

To earn the credit just register your qualifying AMEX cards and make 3 purchases of $10 or more at participating small businesses.

While you will only get $30 in cash back per AMEX card, you can register every AMEX card you have.  And for folks like me who have lots of AMEX cards in their wallets, that adds up to significant savings!

So if you sign-up for the AMEX SimplyCash card and add an authorized user, you can earn $60 in statement credits on Small Business Saturday.  And you’ll get another $250 in cash back for signing-up for the card and spending $5,000 within 6 months.

This is a fantastic start to the holiday season!

  1. So serve does work right?

  2. Can the three $10 purchases all be at the same business?

  3. Does Amex for Target card work as well. Also if the authorized user of a card has a different card number i.e. Amex SPG business card then is it $60 for the account i.e. $30 + $30 or is it only $30. In this case though it is an authorized user, the card numbers are different

  4. What about 3x$10 purchases at the same merchant?

  5. Am I just being blind and completely missing the sign up form? The links just bring me to a generic small business promotion page…

  6. Ditto, see no registration form on this link or anywhere on the page links.

  7. how many authorized users can get a $30 credit?

  8. I third that. I have no idea where to sign up my card. I only see where to subscribe my email

  9. Registration starts Nov. 16, you can’t sign up until then.

  10. WOW People, put your thinking caps on…Registration starts Nov. 16. #IamAmoron.

  11. Thanks Dad. Totally missed that.

  12. I like Lufthansa airlines because of their service. I am a mobility impaired person and the service I received when I flew to India using Lufthansa was excellent!

  13. I read the Terms and Conditions and it does not specify whether 3 $10 purchases can be made at the same merchant. Anyone know the answer?

  14. So authorized users can also get $30? How many authorized users can do this?

  15. Can Macy’s American Express be used for this?

  16. Does the Amex Business Cards works?

  17. Still wondering if you can make 3 $10 purchases at the same merchant…

  18. can we shop online?

  19. Registered my two Amex cards, but unsure how you register my Serve and Bluebird cards?

  20. Do split payments count?

  21. Split payments do count, as long as they are $10 or greater each. I would like to know the actual time that the $10 was credited in the past. The full 90 days? Immediately? And do you get a confirmation that your purchase qualifies?

  22. still want to know can i do 3 10.00 at same business or not

  23. @diane – yes, others are planning on doing it that way. If American express doesn’t let you do the 2nd swipe for ten, just change to 10.01. I will probably just do 11, then 12, for each one of my cards.

  24. @aj – can’t shop online
@Roger- You should see a confirmation right away, and see the refund within a few days.
