Many thanks to Million Mile Secrets reader matthewD for sending us a link to the Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve Card with a $100 statement credit!

Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve With $100 Statement Credit!

The Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve card gets you 2 weekend nights at any Hilton, plus free Hilton Gold Elite status, after spending $2,500 in 4 months.  The annual fee of $95 is not waived for the first year.

This offer doesn’t pay us a commission, but will get you a $100 statement credit after spending at least $100 at a Hilton hotel within the 1st 3 months.  We always tell you about a better offer, even if it doesn’t pay us a commission!

Citi Hilton Visa Signature Card

If you don’t like paying an annual fee, the Citi Hilton HHonors Visa Signature Card (our link) gets you 40,000 points and free Hilton Silver Elite status after spending $1,000 in 4 months.  However, there is an offer for 50,000 points which we don’t earn a commission on (the landing page doesn’t mention the 50,000 point bonus, but most folks report getting the bonus.)

100 Statement Credit With The Citi Hilton Reserve

Emily and I Used Hilton Points to Stay at the Hilton Molino Stucky in Venice!

But here’s a new offer for 40,000 points after spending $1,000 in 4 months, but with a $50 statement credit after spending at least $50 at a Hilton hotel within the 1st 3 months.  So you’re giving up 10,000 Hilton points for a $50 statement credit.

I’d personally get the 50,000 point offer, because I’d rather get 10,000 extra Hilton points than spend $50 at a Hilton hotel.

Bottom Line

You can get 2 free weekend Hilton nights, free Gold Elite status AND a $100 statement credit if you apply for the Citi Hilton Reserve using this link.  However, you HAVE to spend at least $100 at a Hilton hotel to get the statement credit.  This link doesn’t pay us a commission and is a better choice for folks who will be spending money at a Hilton hotel.

If you don’t like paying an annual fee, there’s also a Citi Hilton HHonors Visa Signature offer with a $50 statement credit after spending $50 at a Hilton hotel.  But it’s only for 40,000 points.  That said, I prefer the 50,000 Hilton points offer out of the no-annual fee Citi Hilton cards.

  1. Last time I applied for a Citi Hilton HHonors card, I was able to sell my 50,000 Hilton points to rewards2cash for $230

    http://rewards2cash.com/Hilton%20Rewards?tracking=4f8fb6a3e7219

The company has positive reviews on slickdeals, facebook, fatwallet and yelp.

  2. Do you know if I can apply for the Hilton Reserve card, if I already have the Hilton Signature card?

  3. The link doesn’t seem to be working to the $100 statement and certificate.
    Thanks!

  4. Anyone know if Reserve statement credit will work with any Hilton spend, including hotel restaurants and bars?

  5. Ah never mind. I see that the all charges must culminate on a hotel room bill folio.

  7. @ Jenny – Yes, 2 cards every 60 days. I even cancelled the reserve card right before the fee was due to post, and waited a few months, reapplied and got 2 more certs.
I’ve also read that if you email citi bank for the $100, they will give that offer to you.

  8. @Lynn Thanks!

  9. Yes, 2 every 60 days will USUALLY work, but waiting 65 days is safer. Seems Citi is not good at math, and sometimes miscounts by a few days.

Remember also, the 65 days is not just for HHonors cards, it applies to every type of Citi cc. If you just applied for two Citi AA cards, you need to wait 65 days before applying for a Citi HHonors card. And vice versa.

  10. Working now. Anyone has experience applying for 2 identical Reserve cards at the same time?

  11. Does anyone know how long this offer is good for?

  12. @ Lynn – I got approved for the Citi Reserve last Friday, before the $100 credit. Would it be better to spend a night at the hilton and email to ask for the credit, or just call them now and ask to include the $100 signup bonus?

  13. @ed – I’d go to your Citi account online and send them a message before you spend the money for the night. I’d be surprised if they don’t match the offer. I’d want to know before spending $100 on a Hilton.

  16. i wonder if buying a Hilton Gift card at a hotel would work… do they sell those?

  17. @Russ The 2 browser method to get 2 Citi ccs at the same time no longer works. You must wait at least 8 days between any two applications for Citi ccs of ANY type. After 2 applications, you must wait 65 days before you apply for another one. If you apply for 2 Citi ccs in less than 8 days, or 3 in less than 65 days, you will be automatically denied, no matter how good your credit is….

  18. I have the HHonors Visa Signature, and actually just canceled it this week, do I need to wait an additional 65 days until I can apply for the HHonors Reserve? Or can I apply directly online?

Both are different products, so I think it should be okay.

    Thanks!

  19. @Jeff You don’t need to wait. You can apply for 2 Citi cards every 60 days, but 65 is better because some say Citi doesn’t count well! It doesn’t matter when you cancel, only when you apply. You could even apply for the same HHonors Visa signature, as many like me have.

  20. Thank you for posting up the better offer link, not everyone does that. This was going to be part of our next churn anyway so we appreciate the extra $100 savings!

  21. I was just approved for the Citi Hhonors Visa Reserve 2/26/2014. No $100 sign up bonus offered then. Will receive card in a couple of days. You think Citi will comp me even though It was not offered then since I have not activated card?

  22. @ Dan – just activate your card and send them a message from your Citi account online. You shouldn’t have a problem getting the $100 offer!

  24. @ Dan – I’m in the same position.

I called and they said they can’t add an new offers to an existing account. Tried sending a message online but it’s been a few days and no response. Does anyone know the best route to getting it applied to an existing account (less than a month old)

  25. @MMS Thanks for the reply. I got a response from Citi after I sent a message online from my account. They said they’d be happy to apply the statement credit but did not see a current Hilton spend. Told me to message again within 3 months from application date after I had stayed at a Hilton and they’ll apply the credit!

  26. Hello!
I just have two questions about the Hilton Honors Reserve card and the $100 statement credit.
Is the cost of the room what qualifies for the statement credit or is it an extra that I have to charge like a meal that qualifies.
I only want to stay the one night and only charge what the room costs.. not sure if that will get my $100 back. The language is a little vague. Here is what they say..

    (12) Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve Card: In order to qualify for this one-time statement credit, the minimum $100 purchase requirement must be met and will include charges at hotel restaurants, lounges, retail stores, or spas, which are charged to the cardmember’s hotel room bill and settled using the Citi® Hilton HHonors™ Reserve card upon checkout. Certain on-property vendors may not permit cardmember to charge to their hotel room, and such charges will not be applied toward the purchase requirement. Credit will appear on billing statement 6-8 weeks after purchase requirement has been met.

Also.. can the room charge be from a stay at a Hilton Grand Vacations resort or only a regular Hilton.
Thanks in advance for any advice and help.

  27. @sleep7
The requirement is based on the final hotel receipt on checkout. This includes room rate as well as anything else you decide to buy during your stay (e.g. movies, room service, etc). Also, I think any Hilton property qualifies. I am currently trying to see if my stay at Doubletree will qualify. I plan on giving them a call tomorrow to verify.

    @Lynn
I sent them an email last week, and it took a couple days for them to respond, but they said they will honor the promotion with my card. With that, I booked a stay at a Doubletree over the weekend. I have not yet received my first statement, but I will post some feedback in a month or two to confirm the $100 credit.

  29. Ed.. Thanks for the help.. that’s just what I wanted to know. The wording of the fine print wasn’t clear to me.
Lynn.. I hope your $100 credit come soon. I’m sure that Doubletree is included in the promotion. The Hilton time shares I was not so sure. Good luck!

Can i use the card just at a hilton hotel for dinner and still get $100 credit? Is staying at a hotel compulsory?

  31. HHonors Gold status with HHonors Reserve Card anything but instant/automatic in my experience.

I wanted to book a room this weekend at a Hilton. Received and activated my HHonors Reserve card yesterday after approval 9~10 business days ago. I should be enjoying Gold Status priviledges at the room tomorrow right?
Nope. Unfortunately, no Hilton HHonors Gold Status because I didn’t even get assigned a membership number. I didn’t associate an HHonors card number with the application because on the application form it said:

“Note: If you are currently a Hilton HHonors Member, please provide your member number on this application, otherwise a new HHonors number will be assigned upon approval of your Citi® Hilton HHonorsTM card.”

Uh, I was approved 10 days ago? I thought that if I associated an HHonors number on the application form it would take longer. Perhaps that was a better way to go?

Called Citi membership services hotline on the back of the card. CSR didn’t really how to answer me initially and had to call another department, but eventually came back to say that I would get assigned the membership + gold status NEXT billing cycle. Uh… Hyatt Chase credit card avoids all this BS by printing the Hyatt GP number ON THE CARD.

Then called HHonors to see if they could make a reservation for me this weekend, and told them I have the HHonors reserve card with the supposedly auto/instant Gold status. HHonors CSR says they cannot assign me a new membership number because it was Citi’s responsibility to do that. If HHonors gives me a new membership number, they cannot guarantee it will be associated with my Reserve card, thus no Gold on that account. So they punted back to Citi.

Sent several Citi private messages underscoring how I wanted to utilize the Gold status in making a reservation for this weekend ASAP, all I got were responses saying they’ve contacted HHonors to investigate and also forwarded my “inquiry to the appropriate area for investigation”, where I should expect to “receive a response from them by mail in 10-15 business days”. By Snail mail? Citi’s definitely trolling me now.

  32. Darius, I have the Hilton VISA Signature card and Hilton AMEX card both with no annual fee. If I sign-up for the HIlton VISA Reserve Card noted above will I be eligible to get the two free weekend nights and $100 credit? I’m planning a trip to France in July and it would be great to use them. Thoughts? Thanks.

    • @WJB – If you don’t have 2 Citi applications within 65 days, you should be able to get the Reserve Card. That said, I’d check to see if Hilton has hotels in the places you want to stay in France before applying for the card.

  33. Can we keep the weekend certificates even after we cancel the credit card?
Also is it possible to churn this card twice in a 12-month period to end up with 4 weekend certificates? I didn’t find any terms on how often we can churn this card in the fine print.

@Abhilash Muthuraj – Apparently we cannot just go eat a hilton hotel restaurant:
“(12) Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve Card: In order to qualify for this one-time statement credit, the minimum $100 purchase requirement must be met and will include charges at hotel restaurants, lounges, retail stores, or spas, which are charged to the cardmember’s hotel room bill and settled using the Citi® Hilton HHonors™ Reserve card upon checkout. 36. I got this card in April, $100 statement credit definitely part of the offer; I stayed at a Doubletree in May and spent more than $100; no statement credit! I emailed the CS dept and they said they have no idea what I’m talking about, that they’ve never heard of any such offer made by this card for a $100 statement credit after a Hilton stay within the first 3 months of card ownership; called to CS and they said same thing and were pretty nasty; any advice? Anyone else have this problem?

  37. Darius, do you know how long this $100 statement credit offer was valid? I just got a call from a Citibank employee who claims that this offer wasn’t good in early April, which is when we applied. I pointed out it was good in late February (as evidenced by this post) and was good until last week when it was pulled, but she wants “proof” it was offered in April; do you know the duration of this offer?

  38. Hi Paige,

I am experiencing a similar problem now. Citi account service department keeps saying that I need an evidence to show that I took a solicitation in order for them to match it up though I got an unsolicited offer. (I do not have any proof other than the promotion page.)

I have the card since April this year and haven’t received the statement credit though I have fulfilled the requirement.

HI I got the Hilton REserve card and had a stay at a hilton property and Citi didnt give me the $100. I e-mailed using the message center and was told I would need to submit proof of the targeted offer or they would not honor. THe told me to mail or fax the targeted offer. I just sent another message describing the process of booking the reservation and getting to the link. Will let you know what transpires.
