Million Mile Secrets reader Kay (thanks!) commented to let me know that the Chase United 60,000 mile credit card offer is now available to most folks!

Update:  This offer is no longer working.

This is GREAT news, because you can get the 1st 50,000 United miles after spending $1,000 within 3 months with the 1st year annual fee waived!

You get the remaining 10,000 miles after spending $25,000 within a calendar year which is a lot of spending, so I consider this as a card with a 55,000 mile sign-up bonus.

However, you may need to have a few United miles in your Mileage Plus (United’s frequent flyer program) account to get to see the 55,000 mile offer.  If you don’t have United miles in your Mileage Plus account you may get the 30,000 mile offer instead.

Here’s how to get to the United 60,000 mile credit card offer.

1.   What if I already have a previous United credit card?

Emily currently has the MileagePlus Visa card while I don’t.  When I logged in to Emily’s MileagePlus account and clicked on the link above, I wasn’t able to see the United 60,000 mile offer.

However, when I pasted the link above into my browser I was able to get to the 60,000 mile offer after 2 tries.

2.   I don’t have any United miles in my MileagePlus account?

I transferred miles from my United account to my Continental account and then tried accessing the United 60,000 mile credit card offer.

But I was only offered 40,000 miles when I had NO United miles in my Mileage Plus account.

If you don’t have any United miles, you could:

a.   Link your Continental & United accounts and transfer miles from your Continental account to United for free.

b.  Transfer miles from Chase Ultimate Rewards if you have the Chase Sapphire Preferred or the Chase Ink Bold.  As of now, you can transfer Chase Ultimate Reward points to anyone’s account!

c.  Sign-up for the United dining program, spend $50 in a participating restaurant, and complete a survey to receive 1,000 bonus United miles

Please note that there have been few reports on FlyerTalk of folks who have NOT been able to access the 60,000 mile offer even though they have United miles in their account.

So transferring miles to your United account may or may not unlock the 60,000 mile offer.  But it is worth a try!

3.   What if none of the above steps work?

You could apply for the regular 30,000 mile United Explorer and send Chase a secure message asking for the 55,000 mile version along with the $50 statement credit.  This may not work all the time, but if you’re targeted for the offer, they will let you know.

If you decide to apply

Take lots of screen shots (hopefully you won’t need them) and apply for the card!

I just got the Chase Southwest card with 50,000 miles which got me a Southwest Companion Pass (or 1 year of Emily flying free with me!) so I will pass on this card.

But I do wish that I wasn’t limited to only 4 to 5 Chase personal cards a year!

Will I get the Bonus miles if I have/had a Chase United card?

In general, you can get the sign-on bonus once per card type for Chase credit cards.

However the terms and conditions of the United Explore card say:

“Previous and existing United Airlines cardmembers/accounts are not eligible for this bonus offer.”

I’m not sure if this will be enforced, but you should know about it before applying.

Read my previous post on the Chase United and Continental credit card strategy for more information on the credit cards.

Card Benefits

50,000 United miles will get you 2 domestic tickets within the US or to Canada at the low mileage level.   60,000 United miles will get you a coach ticket to Europe or 100,000 miles will get you to Europe in business class using either United or other Star Alliance airlines.

In addition, you will get 1 free checked bag ($25 value) for up to 2 persons on the reservation, access to last minute seats (for double the amount of miles needed) and 2 free lounge passes after your 1st anniversary.

Bottom Line:  There has been much speculation about a new and improved United offer.  But 50,000 mile after your 1st purchase is the best offer for the Chase United credit card which I’ve seen!

Please comment if you were able to see the 60,000 mile offer and if you had miles in your United account.

  1. I just received my first statement. They did not give a statement credit. When I called customer service I was told that there is no credit included I my offer.

  2. @Russ – I still get the 65K offer. Do you have a few miles in your account?

@MeredithK – I’d send them a secure message asking to be matched to the $50 statement credit offer.

  3. Hey, i have 9000 miles and tried all the links to no avail. I dont have any miles earned this year, maybe thats it?

  4. Try clearing your browser cookies or try a different computer.

I can still see the 40,000 offer at https://www.theexplorercard.com/MPYoureIn65kAFW.aspx which redirects me to https://www.theexplorercard.com/MPYoureIn40kAFW.aspx but some people are saying (3 weeks ago) they could still see the 65,000 offer.

  5. @Russ @Gary LaPointe – I was able to see the 65K offer in my United account when I logged in. You could apply for the regular offer and ask Chase to match you to the better offer. No guarantee that they will, but most folks have been getting matched.

  6. Anyone know if they start charging annual fee at month 13th or 24th?

  7. @Nathan – If the fee for the 1st year was waived, they will likely charge you in month 11 or 12.

  9. I tried everything you suggested and all I see is the 40,000 mile offer. I already have a United CC. Any suggestion?

  10. @Jemille Hardy – If you have the United Explorer card, you likely won’t get the bonus. But if you have an older United card, you may be able to get the bonus by applying for the 40K offer and sending Chase a secure message to match you.

  11. I signed up for the Mileage Plus Explorer for 40k (well, 30k since I don’t plan to spend $25 in the calendar year). Unfortunately nothing I did showed me the 65k version, but I just sent a secure message requesting a bump anyway. Fingers crossed!

  12. @Azriel – Please let us know how it goes!

  13. I received the 40,000 mile bonus card, asked to be bumped up. They said that once I receive the first 25k bonus from the 40k card, they will work on bumping me “to the latest offer.”

  14. Just got confirmation that they will be crediting an additional 25k miles to my account. Easy enough!

  15. @DKE – I’d send another message to confirm

    – Congrats and thanks for sharing! Don’t forget to ask for the 5K miles for an additional cardholder and the $50 statement credit as well.

  16. Hi D,

I understand that EVA Air is becoming Star Alliance, and I can use UA miles on EVA and future EVA trips can be deposit to UA account. But, do you know if i can transfer the existing EVA miles to UA account?

  17. Hi D,

Is it possible to transfer existing EVA Evergreen miles to United account?

  18. @Paul E – You can’t transfer EVA miles to a United account.

  19. Is this card churnable? If so, how long do one need to wait?

  20. @Abhi – If you have a different version of the Chase United cards, you can get the bonus on the Explorer. If you already had a United Explorer you *may* (as in your miles may vary) get the bonus again if you leave the United number blank and have them create a new account for you.

  21. Offer appears to be dead as I just tested.

  22. @Lee – Thanks for letting me know. I updated the heading.

  23. Love your website!
I have tried different browsers, cleared cookies, and I still can’t get anything more the 30K to show as an offer. I guess I’ll have to try calling in later to match, after applying. Not sure if this offer needs updating.

  24. @Jfish -I still get the 65K offer. You can send a secure message to ask them to match.

  25. It is redirecting to 30K offer. What is the best way to get them to match 65K once you call in?

  26. @TLng – In my experience, secure message works best!

  27. i got the 25k points already and secure message them to match the 50k offer and $50 statement. they agree to it, but i only see the $50 statement and don’t see the 50k points in my account. do you know when they’ll post the additional 25k? also do you have to ask them to give you the 5k for adding an additional cardholder? or will they give that to you, since it’s promoted in the signup? thank you

  28. @x – I’d send another secure message especially if you have the documentation that they agreed to it. You ask them to add an additional cardholder for the 5K – We did it via secure message.

  29. I’ve been trying the 65K United for weeks and even transfered miles into new account. All i get is the 30K please any ideas? thanks!!

  30. @terry kaiser – You can apply for the 30K offer and send a secure message to Chase to match to the better offer.

  31. Hi, how many miles you have in the United A/C so you see the 65k offer?

  32. I had less than 500 miles and I got the 60,000 (or 65k) mile offer.

I was not offered the $50 bonus (for first purchase) but asked for it via the credit card web site and they credited it to my charge card.

  33. To be clear: This was back several months (probably around May) when I applied.

  34. If i am a second card holder on my wifes United Credit Card, Will i be able to open up my own, or would i need to remove myself from my wives united card

  35. If i am already added as a second cardholder on my wifes united credit card, would i be able to open up my own under my name, or would i have to remove myself from my wifes account?

  36. Danny, I’d be surprised if they wouldn’t let you be added. The credit line is already approved. They just want you to spend spend spend.

I do think there was a limitation (for the miles) of doing it in the first 90 (60?) days.

  37. @Vaibs – I don’t think it matters how many miles you have in your account.

@Gary LaPointe – Thanks for helping out!

@Danny K – If you are an additional cardholder, you should be able to get the miles, but not if you are a joint account holder.

  38. I can’t get the 50K offer despite having 40k miles in my account. My husband is an elite member and the offer is there for him.

What couldl I do? Apply and send a secure message asking Chase to match the 50k offer or send the message before applying?

  39. @Li – You could log into your husband’s account and apply for yourself if the information is not pre-entered. Otherwise you could apply and send a message asking to be matched, but your miles could vary.

  40. Is there a way to SM chase if you don’t already have an account?
Specifically, I’m new to having a United account (0 miles) but hoping to get the 50-65k offer on a credit card (excellent score / history). Needless to say, I’m only getting the 30k offer at present, and wanted to secure message them to see if they’d consider me for the targeted offer.

If that doesn’t work because of my lack of history with united, I’m debating having my son xfer 2,000 miles into my account (at a cost of $30) with hopes that I will receive the offer after that ‘activity’. I’d be curious your thoughts on the probability of this helping my cause though, to avoid incurring the fee and borrowing my sons miles in vain haha.
    Many thanks!

  41. @rki – If you have other Chase credit cards, you may be able to send them a secure message – otherwise not. I’m not sure if getting the miles will reveal the offer, but folks are able to currently get the 30K offer matched to 50K.

  42. Does anyone have the offer code for the offer of 65K miles plus $50 statement credit?

It probably looks something like S6V.

  43. I have zero miles in my United MileagePlus account. I applied for the Explorer card and got the offer for 25K miles +5K miles for adding an authorized user.

I logged in at Chase.com within 30 days (of the application approval?) and sent a secure message asking for an upgrade to the offer of 65K miles plus $50 statement credit. Within a few hours, my upgrade request was approved. I did not have to give them the offer number.

    The upgraded offer is this:
1.) 50,000 bonus miles after you have made $1,000 in new purchases on your card within the first three months your account is open.
2.) 5,000 bonus miles after you add an authorized user
3.) 10,000 bonus miles when you spend $25,000 or more using your card each calendar year.
4.) $50 statement credit after first purchase

  44. @Sam – Thanks for confirming that it still works!

  45. I just tried it and it works!
they switch around the Link to throw us off!
this Link worked tonight under multiple names but not on Chrome (?!?)
    Only on InPrivate IE!

  46. @Mimi K. – Thanks for confirming!

  47. I just got the card and sent a secure message asking for the 50,000 miles. They accepted my request in a day and credited my account with the $50 statement credit. I started with zero miles in my mileage account.
    Still works!

  48. @Matt P. – Thanks for confirming!

  49. the deal is dead, offer is for 30k miles!

  50. @MV – You can match to the better offer!

  51. What does that mean you can match to the better offer? MV said it’s dead?

  52. I received my United MP Explorer card recently and my wife received it a while ago. Will I be able to add my wife as an additional cardholder for the 5K bonus miles? If not, if my wife cancels her card, will I be able to add her as an additional cardholder for the bonus? Thanks.

  53. @jay- you can add each other as authorized users even while you have the same card as a primary user

  54. @terry kaiser – It means that you can send Chase a secure message and ask them to match you to the 55K offer if you applied for the regular 30K offer. Readers say that they are still being matched, but your miles may vary.

@Jay -Yes, you can add your wife to get the 5K bonus and she can also get the bonus later on.

  55. Can you explain how and where to send a secure message?
I logged in and from the “Contact Us” in the right corner I went
to Mileage Plus service center, request missing award miles, contact mileage plus (middle of page) and sent them the following message: Please upgrade me to the offer of 65K miles plus the $50 statement credit. and they sent me back saying “Please provide us details about the offeer so that we can assist you further”

  56. 1/3/2013 – applied for the 30k points bonus and called them. they are going to credit my account with the 65k. Thanks guys!

  57. LEVI, is there a particular number you have called? What exactly did you tell them?

  58. @Alex – You can send a secure message online that you found a 65K offer and can they please match you to it.

  59. I was able to see the offer by just logging into my Mileage Plus account, without even clicking on the links you provided (thanks, though!). I have gold FF status, though, so maybe that’s why?

  60. FYI, I saw the 65k offer after logging into my account, link starts with:

However, it did not work on my wife’s account, which had miles but no recent activity.

  61. @Kristen @King – Thanks for sharing!

  62. terry kaiser

We just got the upgrade from 30K to 65K. Secure message GLTA!

  63. hello…I’ve been reading all these comments and it seems that for some users, Chase has been good about honoring expired offers, once the card has been opened. Right now (Jan 2013) the offer is only for 30,000 and everyone I talk to at Chase says that they cannot honor an expired offer. I know the instructions here also say to open the account, get the bonus miles (in my case 30,000) and then request the add’l (30K) miles within 90 days thru a secure message online. But i can’t seem to get confirmation that this is an actual policy that they will honor and i don’t want to open the card now if they say that they can’t honor an expired offer and only get the 30K miles. I also don’t want to wait for the 60K offer because that may be too long. 🙂 The reps also asked if I had a flier or an email and i don’t, i just see the links here but they all direct me to the 30K offer. Any suggestions? Thanks!!!

  64. @terry kaiser – Congrats and thanks for confirming!

    – You won’t get confirmation from Chase, so don’t ask them. This is a “your miles may vary” deal, but seems to work for most folks. But don’t apply if you want 100% certainty that you will get the 65K since the matching could stop anytime.

  65. I was able to get this card approved today by going into the branch. The banker who helped me had a hard plastic mat that essentially had all of the current Chase cards they offer and the promos. The 50+5+5 is their current in-branch offer for this card; he even commented that the offer was worse online, which isn’t usually the case. However, the spending requirement is $2000 in 3 months (rather than $1000). After I get the card I might see if they’ll honor the $1000 spending requirement by sending them a secure message. Doesn’t hurt!

  66. Daraius, thanks for updating and maintaining this post. I followed your advice and transferred 1000 Chase UR points to my United account, and the 65K offer appeared.

However, there is another offer that appeared as well, for the United MileagePlus Club card. Before my points transfer, the offer for this card included a $395 annual fee w/ a $95 statement credit after first purchase. The new & improved offer includes $0 annual fee for the first year.

There is no sign-on bonus, but some notable benefits:

    Club Card Travel*

Visit the United ClubSM every time you fly
    Premier Access travel services
Check your first and second bag for free
    No foreign transaction fees†

    Club Card Rewards*

per dollar you typically earn. Earn even more on United tickets –
    2 miles per dollar spent
Your miles don’t expire as long as you are a Cardmember
You won’t pay close-in booking fees on award tickets

    Club Card Lifestyle*

Receive access to exclusive events with Inside Access from Chase
Enjoy personalized assistance with Concierge Services

    Club Card Protection*

    Travel Protection
    Purchase Protection
    Fraud Protection

    Club Card Service*

    Dedicated Customer Service
    Card Account Management

Do you have any thoughts about this card? Thanks!

  67. @Tessa – Thanks for sharing! I want to go into a branch and take a picture of that mat!

@jac – You may still be able to get the 65K offer, by applying for the 30K card and then asking to be matched to the better offer. With the United Club card, you can send a secure message asking for a complete fee waiver and then apply for the card after the match. This card is good if you spend a lot since you earn 1.5 United miles per $1 spent and if you want United lounge access.

  68. Hi Darius, thanks for the heads up on this. I currently has a UA personal card but would like to get this with a business card.

Somehow after I logged in (and there’s mile in the account) and followed above links, I can only see the Mileage Plus home page has a small Explorer card ad at the lower right hand corner. When clicked on it, it shows a page with a button to “Checking Eligibility”. When hoovering on top of the button, it asks me to call the number on the back of my Explorer card to check eligibility. It seems UA recongizes that I already have a personal Explorer card and would not extend me the business offer.

Since you mentioned Emily already has a card and was able to get the higher bonus link pulled up, I wonder if may share some insights and point out where I might have done wrong?

Really want to get this to boost up my miles, thanks very much for your help Darius, keep up the good back!

  69. @Docomo – You could apply for the regular 30K business version and then send a secure message asking to be matched, but your miles may vary. Or you could get an Ink Bold/Plus and transfer the points to United.

  70. thanks for all of your help! I just read these last couple comments so I went into the branch…i didn’t think they would have a different offer but they do as Tessa describes! I saw the mat 🙂 the girl helping me didn’t know too much but the mat outlined the offer well. The bonus miles for the explorer card was 50K (spend $2K in 3 mos) which is more than the online offer. The united club card had no annual fee the first year, which is a great savings not found online! But no bonus miles. I think the bonus miles (50K+10K if you spend a certain amount in a year) with the explorer card may benefit me more than the 1.5 miles the club card gives. Anyway, just wanted to share that I did get more miles than was given online. thx everyone 🙂

  71. Thanks for sharing the great information.

Today I received a letter from United/Chase which offers the same 65K package with personal invitation no.

This was totally a surprise to me since I cancelled my previous Explorer card just a week ago when I called in Chase recon line to have my application for Saphire Preferred approved (BTW I received my new SP card yesterday). The old Explorer card would generate annual fee in Feb so that trade-in was no brainer for me.

So now I think I have three choices.

    1) Take a chance to jump on the invitation NOW.
    2) Hold it for now (maybe for 4 weeks to be at safer side) and apply later (the letter shows my deadline is Feb 20).
    3) Forget the offer to spare one hard credit hit for other churning opportunity.

    Which one would you take?

Also do you think I’m qualified for the 65K bonus if approved?

  72. @sona – Thanks for sharing! You can get the fee waived on the Club card if you send a secure message to Chase before applying for the card. But I’d prefer the Explorer to the Club card because of the extra points.

    – I’d do 1 or 2, but there’s a chance that you may not get the miles since you already had a previous Explorer card. If it was a previous United (non-Explorer) card, you may get the miles again. And sometimes folks get the miles again if they leave their United application number off the application…

  74. Love your post; thanks for working on this!
One question please: I do have the United Explorer card (which I opened about 1 year ago for 50K bonus). Now I am either not seeing any offer at all (with or without logging-in) or I see only the 30K version (this happened only twice).
Should I close the Explorer card to get the new offer?

  75. @irina – You won’t get the bonus for the exact same card type, unless you have a different mileage plus number for each card and have closed one card. But if you have a different version of the United card, you may be able to get the bonus for a different United card type.

  76. Have miles in my acct and no current UA Chase card. Got the 50,000 + 5,000 + 10,000 mile c/c offer.

  77. Just had my wife signup for a new United frequent flyer account and was only getting the offer for 30K miles…logged out. Used 1000 miles out of my Chase Sapphire Account and transferred them into my wife’s newly created account…logged back in…clicked on the top link and got offered the 50k miles offer. Great Success!!

  78. @Josh @Scott Ribich – Very nice!

  79. Great website! Any information on how many miles are available if I apply for the business and the regular United card? Also do I need to do the double browser method?

  80. @Neil – You may be able to get the regular business version also matched to 55K. However, you can’t get an instant approval with Chase for applying for 2 cards at the same time, so you’ll have to call the reconsideration line to get approved.

  81. hi, i had the offer 30k, but then i asked them to give me the extra, and they did, so i think it’s possible to ask them if you don’t see the 60k deal

  82. It still works for me! I applied for Chase United via the 30k offer. Then I followed your advice to send them a message to Secure Message Center and they replied today for approval telling me to call the number on the card after I’ve spent $1000 (within 3 months). They promised to credit $50 in the next billing cycle as well. Thanks a lot,

  83. Can anyone tell me if you are able to use mileage to get airline tickets for family members. ex. children, spouse. Or does the credit card only allow you to use the miles for yourself?

  84. @map2thea – You can use the miles and points to book flights or hotels for anyone.

  85. deal is dead…back to 30,000…tried a lot of different links…looked viable 2 days ago…

  86. @Mark – I just got another email with the offer, so it is still available. You may be able to get the 30K offer matched, but your experience may be different.

  87. I was logged in my account but didn’t see the 50K offer till I used your link above, thanks!!!

  88. Is the 60 EQM link out there. Links I’ve tried have lead to 30k promo. Is there a template for the SM to Chase asking to match the better offer?

  89. Is this deal dead?

Clicked the links above and it no longer looks like there are ANY sign up miles offered with this card?!?!

  90. I too cannot get the 60k offer to show, only the 30k. I transferred 1,000 ultimate rewards points over to my united account, and still nothing. Just keeps re-routing me to the 30k offer.

  91. You could apply for the 30K version and ask to get matched to the 55K version.

  92. I just sent Chase a secure message requesting the match after coming across your blog, and they are going to credit me the extra 25k miles and $50 statement credit. I am so happy! Now my BF and I will have enough miles to fly for free to our summer vacation destination.

  93. Is there any problem with having both the Chase Ink card and Chase United card? Did I see where you said they can be combined somehow? How does that work? Thanks.

  94. @Krysia – Very nice and have a wonderful trip!

@JS – You can get both, but if you apply for both at the same time, you may need to call the reconsideration line. You can transfer points from the Ink Bold or Ink Plus to your United account.

  95. As I know, when I send a secure massage to Chase I need to have available link for matching. Then what link should I attach to get extra 25K mile for Chase United card?

  96. @Joo – Not necessarily. You can mention that you saw a 55K offer and can they kindly match you to that.

  97. I wanted to apply for the Chase United card for 50 k points but they only have 30k available. I transferred 1000 pts to my United frequent flyer account to see if it would change and it didnt. What can I do?

  98. @Leaha – You could go to a Chase branch and see if they have the better offer. Or apply for the 30K offer and then send Chase a secure message.

  99. After calling the reconsideration line, I was approved for the Chase Sapphire Preferred (CSP) (I applied using your site). I found out I had been initially denied because of an inquiry from a car dealer in February. I paid the car in full with a check. I could easily have brought cash if I had known that paying by check would generate an inquiry and make it difficult to be approved for a credit card a month later. Can the dealer remove the inquiry?
Also, I want to apply for the United 30K offer and ask for the Xtra 25K. How does one send a secure message to Chase?
Thank you so much for all the good info on your site. I am a fan
